The Lace Guild Competition and Exhibition 2013

Entries are invited from all lacemakers for The Lace Guild’s 2013 Competition and Exhibition at The Hollies, the Lace Guild headquarters. Overseas entries are eligible.
ELIGIBILTY: The competition Is open to all lacemakers. Lace must have been completed between August 2010 and May 2013.
JUDGING: Three judges will be appointed by The Lace Guild; their decision will be final. Judges are selected for experience and knowledge of traditional lace techniques, modern lace techniques, innovation and design skills.
CLASSES: Each item to be entered in one of the classes listed in schedule; entries will automatically be entered for other appropriate overall awards.
DEFINITIONS:
Original design Designed and worked by the entrant, the design not taken directly from a lace pattern or piece of lace.
Novice Anyone who has been making lace in the broad category (i.e. Bobbin lace, Needlelace, Knitting, Crochet or tatting) for less than 3 years up to the closing date.
Teacher Anyone who is being, or has been at any time since August 2010, paid to teach lace.
Young Lacemaker Any one under the age of 18 years on 31st August 2013.
SECTION A-TRADITONAL LACES IN TRADITONAL STYLE Lace in this section does NOT need to be linked to the theme Contrasts. Work should celebrate the traditional laces and encourage a high standard in the techniques. Young Lacemakers may enter this section.
SECTION B- CONTRASTS Lace to the theme, with any combination of techniques and materials. To be judged on design, presentation and suitability for end use. Entrants for this section should describe how their work fits to the theme Contrasts.
ENTRY FEE MAIN CLASSES: £15 for first entry, £8 for each additional entry. Class 11 one entry fee. Lacemakers under 18 years FREE. CLASS 16 entry fee is included in the cost of materials.
