Deadline: January 17, 2014 (POSTMARK)
The Artist Project
a Community Arts Initiative program
Museum of Fine Arts
Boston, MA
2014-2015
he Artist Project is a collaboration between an experienced artist, the Museum of Fine Arts, and ten after-school community organizations in the Boston area. The program is designed to engage children in the art-making process under the guidance of an artist. Drawing inspiration from the MFA’s collection, the selected artist plans and leads an art project with children between the ages of six and twelve. The final product is a collaborative work of art reflecting the voices and ideas of participating children, and is exhibited in the Edward H. Linde Gallery in the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art at the MFA.
The MFA provides the selected artist with a stipend and a materials budget. The lead artist works with MFA staff and collections and is recognized across all exhibition materials including postcards and the MFA website. The role of the lead artist is to guide the children and steer the work of art into its final exhibited shape.
Artists must be experienced in exhibiting and working with groups of children. Artists who work in any medium are eligible to apply.
Judges review applications for:
ENGAGEMENT
The project inspires children and encourages parent, visitor, and community involvement.
CREATIVITY
The project draws from the MFA’s collections and reflects the artist’s style.
FEASIBILITY
The project can be completed within the timeframe and materials budget provided.
CLARITY
The artist conveys a clear vision of how the final work of art will be exhibited within the gallery space.
FLEXIBILITY
The project allows for multiple participants and considers after-school variables such as children leaving a session early, arriving late, or only participating in one session.
Selection Process
Each year a different panel, typically composed of an MFA Curator, Art Educator, Artist, and a Community Art Director review applications and recommend three final candidates. The lead artist is then selected by the MFA Linde Family Head of Community and Studio Arts, the MFA Manager of Community Arts and other MFA staff members following interviews of the final candidates.

Deadline: November 15, 2012 (POSTMARK) & (ONGOING)
Art-in-Ed Artist’s Book Residency Grant
Women’s Studio Workshop
Rosendale, NY 12472
Each year WSW awards two grants for emerging artists to create a new artist’s book and teach young people through our studio-based Art-in-Education (AIE) program, Hands-on-Art. Generally AIE/Book Arts residents teach 1-2 days per week for 3-4 weeks in the studios, and also visit the students in their home school in shorter sessions before and after the series held at WSW.

Each award includes a $400 per week stipend for up to ten weeks, and a $750 materials budget, housing, travel costs up to $250 within the Continental US, and unlimited studio access.
Generally, the first month of the residency is devoted to the production of a limited edition artist’s book. WSW staff will provide training when necessary, technical advice, and assistance with editioning. During the second half of the residency, the artist works with young people in the WSW studios. Studio space and equipment is reserved for AIE students during program hours. Artists may continue to work on their residency projects after students’ studio hours.
The residencies take place in October-December with high school students, and February-May with elementary school students. This grant is a two-step juried process. Artists interested in this opportunity submit materials to WSW, then WSW applies to other funders.
POSTMARK DEADLINE is November 15

Snow Farm - New England Craft Program
Deadline: (UNSPECIFIED)
Call to Artists - Scheduling Instructors for 2012
Snow Farm - New England Craft Program
Williamsburg, Massachusetts
April through October 2012
The artistic foundation and spirit of community that make Snow Farm a unique learning experience is at the center of life at Snow Farm.
Snow Farm is located in Williamsburg, Massachusetts in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. We are in the heart of the "Pioneer Valley" which is home to a large number of the country's most prominent master craftspeople and very close to the five-college community of Northampton and Amherst. Our extensive and professionally equipped studios and our living space are a blend of a 1700s farm and contemporary, architect-designed structures set amidst 50 acres of New England hills and pastures. Snow Farm's four living modules are designed as a series of double rooms each of which opens out onto a large outdoor deck. The kitchen is a focal point of Snow Farm with great, wholesome food made from fresh ingredients. Each meal reflects the same intimacy and caring found throughout the program and the formal and informal participation in the kitchen creates a real sense of community.
We are currently scheduling our weeklong and intensive (2-4 day classes) for April through October 2012. If you are interested in teaching a workshop at Snow Farm, please send your resume, a few images of your work and a description of the class or classes you would like to teach to Karen@snowfarm-art.org.

We still need more regional teachers to apply to fill out our plans for 10 classes running simultaneously during the conference and the 2 days of post conference workshops.
Building on MAWS 2008 success, we plan Introduction to Spinning and Introduction to Weaving classes as well as Children’s activities that will be open to the community for registration, Thursday June 3. Our vendors will open up Thursday night with a Spin-In and special shopping night. After classes on Friday, we head to the Yellowstone Art Museum, which is featuring a special fiber arts show. Saturday night are the shows and Living Treasure awards. On Sunday we finish up with the “Rimsical Whimsical” fashion show and then on to post conference workshops.
If you are interested in teaching at MAWS 2010 please contact Linda Shelhamer.
For vendor booths contact Susan Leaverton.
