ELIGIBILITY
Knitters and crocheters of all levels are encouraged to submit their original designs.
The design contest will only accept hand-knit and crocheted blankets that measure no smaller than 48"x48" and no larger than 72"x72".
A maximum of four (4) entries per entrant will be accepted. Only hand-knit or crocheted blanets will be accepted. Only designs by individuals will be accepted. We value creativity.
Previously published designs are not eligible for submission. This includes web publishing as well as self-publishing.
All decisions by the jury will be final and binding. SoHo Publishing and Mohair South Africa may revise these rules at any time in their sole discretion. The contest is not open to any employee of Soho Publishing or any of its subsidiaries or company under common control.
GARMENT SIZES & MATERIALS
Please make your blanket to measure no smaller than 48"x48" and no larger than 72"x72".
This contest is sponsored by Mohair South Africa. All submitted entries must be knit using yarn that includes at least 25% mohair.
The final blanket must be knit predominantly with the aforementioned mohair/mohair blend yarn. When designing your garment, please keep ALL ball bands of all yarns used, as finalists will be required to submit ALL ball bands with the blanket.
ORIGINAL DESIGNS
All submitted designs must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe upon the copyrights or other intellectual property rights of any other person or entity. SoHo Publishing and Vogue Knitting reserve the right, in their absolute and sole discretion, to disqualify at any time during the Design Contest any submitted design that they believe may infringe on the rights of any third parties. All winning entries and submitted designs with corresponding patterns and samples become the
sole property of Vogue Knitting and Mohair South Africa, without further compensation, to be used or not used at their discretion, and will not be returned.
If you are not selected as a finalist, you may post or sell the pattern of your entry after winners have been announced at the
Vogue Knitting LIVE Pasadena Cocktail Reception on April 18, 2015.

We don't do novelty yarn, and we rarely publish children's garments or accessories, unless they're exceptionally clever or unique. For the best chance of being published, submit your designs for men's or women's sweaters.
Remember, as you design for Knitty, ask yourself this: what makes your design unique? Tell us about it when you write your e-mail to us.
Submissions must be new -- not previously shown in any form [even just a picture] in another mag or on any website, including Flickr or Ravelry. Once your work is published in Knitty, you may include a picture on your website with a link to the Knitty website. After the issue has been archived [3 months later], you may do whatever you wish with your work, including self publishing or submitting it to other publications. Inspired by the Beyonce song, Put a Ring on It asks what do you value so much that you would want to put a ring on it?
It can be any person or thing in your life & surroundings. Is there a great old building you’d like to see preserved? A favorite food only your grandmother made? A tree in a park near your house? The sunset over the ocean? Don’t just knit a literal yarn engagement ring for that special someone in your life – we want you to get creative!
YBLA wants you to put a knit or crochet ring on what you love and take a photo of it. YBLA wants photos of knit & crochet (yarn art, whatever) rings attached to the objects of your love.

Quilt! Knit! Stitch!™ will feature exhibitor booths, quilts, and fabric art on display, and many educational opportunities on the show floor. But what will set it apart from the International Quilt Festivals currently held in Cincinnati, Chicago, Long Beach, and Houston will be a greater emphasis across the board on needlearts like knitting, embroidery, crocheting, cross-stitch, tatting, and sewing.
We require the following from prospective exhibitors:
A letter from you indicating the quilt show/s you are interested in, and that your company has been producing or selling its product lines for one year or more;
A recommendation letter from a business associate in the industry; and
Product samples or photo/s of the items to be sold at Festival, such as a catalogue, a sample pattern, or other substantiation of the line of products to be cleared by the Festival Screening Committee. Keep in mind that we are a textile-related show and we require that at least 75% of the merchandise you bring to Festival be related to this theme. Please only submit items that do not need to be returned.
BOOTH INFORMATION
The basic booth size is 10' x 10'. Included in the booth rental fee are the following: one 6' or 8' table, two chairs, simple lettered booth identification sign, and a listing in the Quintessential Quilt show program. It is our company policy to release booth pricing information only after the screening process and your company has been accepted.
EXHIBITORS AND MERCHANDISE
Quilt Festival is not an antique show, nor a craft show. Among the types of merchandise that are acceptable are: antique quilts, new quilts, antique tops, new tops, quilt blocks, quilting supplies, patterns, kits, books, quilt and needlework gift items, baskets, rugs, antique linens and laces, reproduction linens and laces, folk art items, quilt prints and/or paper goods, sewing supplies (both old and new), quilt racks and frames, wearable art, pillows, and antique beads.
PROSPECTIVE EXHIBITORS
Each prospective exhibitor must pass a screening process by submitting the requirements. The requirements for our spring, summer, and fall International Quilt Festivals are the same. You can also exhibit at Quilt Market by undergoing a screening process for Market.

Once the submission deadline has passed and all potential designs are in hand, we begin the selection process. We endeavor to let every designer know if they will be included in the next issue as soon as possible.

ArtWear Fashion Week is dedicated to highlighting the work of wearable art artists. Our goal is to present innovative and wearable work of the highest quality and provide a forum to share our enthusiasm for an exploration of techniques and materials. Wearable art in all media and styles are welcome, including garments, ensembles, hats and handbags. Garments for both men and women are encouraged. Acceptance for the show is by invitation and by jury. Individual or collaborative entries
are invited. Designers will be selected by a panel of judges. All garments must be for sale and are eligible for award judging. At least one garment from each accepted artist will be worn in the Fashion Show.
Cash awards will be presented for ArtWear Sales Gallery garments. $1000 Grand Prize - $500 Second Prize - $250 Third Prize
To Enter Fashion Week Sales Gallery:
There is a non-refundable fee of $35 to submit entries for the Fashion Week Sales Gallery. Submit images of three garments that are representative of the artist’s work available for the Sales Gallery. A maximum of two views per garment are allowed.
Digital images only. Entries must include the completed 16th ArtWear Fashion Week Entry Form and a check or money order for $35 made payable to Lincoln Center and must be postmarked by July 1, 2013.

The show is open to all wearable art artists. Accepted artists will be asked to submit up to five garments/ensembles and/or up to eight accessory items for Fashion Week. Vendors may offer a free 30-minute demonstration on a fiber arts technique.

Textile, fiber and jewelry artists are invited to submit work for the annual juried December exhibit "Fabrications" at Crossings. Consider this an opportunity to explore your medium, stretch it to new lengths, twist and turn it into new forms, spin in new technologies or ancient methods, string on a bit of fantasy and let viewers feel what you’ve felt!
Entries can include artwork such as contemporary gallery pieces, wall hangings, 3-dimensional fiber sculpture, wearable art of all types, handcrafted jewelry, and holiday ornaments. Jurors will focus particularly on innovative designs and craftsmanship.
This exhibit is open to all fiber and jewelry artists interested in displaying and selling their work. Fiber arts may include batik, surface design, felting, quilting, rug hooking, spinning, weaving, knitting, fiber sculpture, handcrafted paper and note cards, and needlework. Jewelry arts may include fiber, beading, stone, metal, paper and multimedia.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All entries must be original. No imports, commercial or manufactured items, or items created from kits or copied from published patterns will be accepted.
Submit 3-5 original pieces MAXIMUM, with an entry form.
ENTRY FEE
$15 per artist (not per piece).

All artwork will be insured while at Crossings for the duration of the show. The artist is responsible for insuring the artwork in transit.

Introducing the Vogue Knitting Design Contest sponsored by Zealana, focusing on their luxurious yarns. The grand prize winner will receive an all-inclusive trip to New Zealand, and all winners will be featured in a future issue of Vogue Knitting. Winners will be announced at the Vogue Knitting LIVE New York Gala Dinner on January 19, 2013.
The design contest is open to all knitters with an interest in design and features a distinct track for students, who will compete in separate categories for prizes including knitting supplies, gift cards, and the Grand Prize trip to New Zealand!
Winning entries will be featured in a future issue of Vogue Knitting and will be showcased at Vogue Knitting LIVE, held in New York City January 2013. An international jury of hand-knitting experts will judge entries based on overall concept, uniqueness of vision, and technical execution.
ELIGIBILITY
Knitters of all levels are encouraged to submit their original designs. Students currently enrolled in a high school, university, or fashion institute are eligible to enter the Student category.
The design contest will only accept hand-knit women’s fashion garments (sweaters, tops, skirts, dresses, etc.) sized small to medium. Multi-piece garments will be judged as a singular garment.
A maximum of four (4) entries per entrant will be accepted. Only hand-knit garments will be accepted. Only designs by individuals will be accepted. Crochet and embellishment may be added. We value creativity.
Previously published designs are not eligible for submission. This includes web publishing as well as self-publishing. All decisions by the jury will be final and binding. SoHo Publishing and Zealana may revise these rules at any time in their sole discretion. The contest is not open to any employee of Soho Publishing or any of its subsidiaries or company under common control.
PATTERN PUBLICATION RIGHTS
Vogue Knitting and Zealana reserve the right to publish patterns of winning entries and finalists. Designer will be cited on the pattern. Patterns for winning garments and finalists become the property of Vogue Knitting and Zealana.

The Beans for Brains Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for students attending an accredited and approved institution of higher education.
The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate and professional school students in any course of study.
For the coming award year, there are five $2,250 scholarships up for grabs, one of which is guaranteed to go to a Reno/Tahoe local (the other four awards will be distributed evenly among the four U.S. Regions). There will only be one winner per region. Your region is determined by your hometown.
Awards are merit-based and applications will be judged on GPA, extracurricular activities and essay quality. All application documents must be submitted in English.

Vogue Knitting is proud to announce our "Magic of Mohair" Design Competition, sponsored by Mohair South Africa. The promotion is open to all knitters with an interest in design and features a distinct track for students, who will compete in separate categories for prizes including knitting supplies, gift cards and the Grand Prize trip to South Africa, where most of the world's mohair is produced. Winning entries will be featured in a future issue of Vogue Knitting and will be showcased at Vogue Knitting LIVE, held in New York City in January 2011. An international jury of hand-knitting experts will judge entries based on overall concept, uniqueness of vision and technical execution.
ELIGIBILITY
Knitters of all levels are encouraged to submit their original designs. Students currently enrolled in a high school, university or fashion institute are eligible to enter in the Student category.
Previously published designs are not eligible for submission. This includes web publishing as well as self-publishing.
The Magic of Mohair Design Competition will accept only women’s fashion garments as submitted entries. Entrants may include with their entry any additional accessories that coordinate with the finished garment.
A maximum of four entries per entrant will be accepted. Hand-knit garments only will be accepted. Designs by individuals as well as design collaborations will be accepted. Crochet is allowed in trim only.
GARMENT SIZES & MATERIALS
Please hand-knit your garment sized for women’s small to medium. Entries should follow the standard sizing guidelines found at www.yarnstandards.com.
This contest is sponsored by Mohair South Africa. All submitted entries must be knit using yarn that includes at least 25% mohair. The final garment must be knit predominantly with the aforementioned mohair/mohairblend yarn.
ORIGINAL DESIGNS
All submitted designs must be the original work of the entrant(s) and must not infringe upon the copyrights or other intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.
Judging will take place at Vogue Knitting LIVE—January 21-23, 2011. Winners will be announced during the New York, New York Gala Dinner and Design Awards held at Vogue Knitting LIVE on the evening of January 22, 2011.
Final garments will be on display throughout the show and worn by professional models.
All finalists will receive a free ticket to the New York Gala Dinner and Design Awards and entry to the show floor. (Valued at $155)

The Art of the Sweater is an exhibit of sweaters, both literal and metaphorical. Artists are encouraged to enter both actual knitted, crocheted and woven sweaters as well as the conceptual “sweater” from any media. Entries need not be functional and/or wearable, but must not exceed 8’ tall or 6’ wide. All media are welcome. All entries must be for sale.
Fees: $20.00/ up to 3 entries; $5.00 per entry thereafter. non refundable.
There will be a 40% commission on all works sold. 5% of said commission will be donated to Monte Arts Council.
Jury Process: The Jury will consist of Wildethyme Art owner Laura Murphy M.A., and Myra Wood, author of “Crazy Lace” and “Creative Crochet Lace”. The jury’s final decisions will be based on the number and type, variety of applicants; application presentation, space availability, etc.
There will be one prize awarded for Juror’s Choice. The winning artist will receive a page on the WA website for one year highlighting their work and 150.00.

We encourage innovation, designs for and by men, and for plus-size women/men.

WeaveZine is an online publication with an emphasis on fun, inspiring, weaving articles and projects. New designers are encouraged to send us work; we’d love to be your first publication.
WeaveZine wants informative and entertaining articles and projects that are fun, beautiful, and inspiring. Extra credit if they are whimsical and/or break new ground in weaving. Double-extra credit for projects that do all of the above and are also approachable for new weavers and knitters. (Tip: these people rarely have floor looms.)
Projects and articles must be entirely your own work, without infringing on the copyrights or designs of others. In other words, “inspired by” is okay, plagiarism is not.
Your submission must be unpublished. This means that it can’t have previously appeared in a book, magazine, Web site, blog, or social networking site such as Ravelry, Facebook, etc.
WeaveZine has several regular features. You can write to one of them, but don’t feel limited by them. If you send an article or project that makes me rush to the loom, I’ll find a place to publish it.
Weaving 101
Articles about how to do basic weaving tasks. For example: winding a warp, beaming on, sleying the reed, warping cards for tablet weaving, warping an inkle loom, etc. Step-by-step photos are ideal here. Video clips would be very welcome, as would simple projects for beginners.
Selvedges: Weaving on the Edge
Projects that push the boundaries of handweaving. Articles about novel techniques or people weaving new and innovative things. Surprise me!
K1; Weave One
Projects that combine knitting and weaving, playing to the strengths of each craft. For example: a knitted hat and woven scarf or knitted tea cozy and woven tea towels. Also articles that describe how knitting can improve your weaving, and vice versa. WeaveZine is knitter friendly.
Spin 2 Weave
The congruence of spinning and weaving. Articles about how to spin a particular fiber to serve for a specific type of project. Projects in which handspun is an integral part. For example, a corrugated scarf that relies on overtwist in the weft.
Warped!
Make me laugh. Weaving should be fun. This can be a whimsical project, a story about weaving gone awry, or whatever would tickle a weaver’s funny bone.
What to Weave?
The heart of WeaveZine. Projects that are beautiful and make weavers want to run to their warping boards. Bonus points if they are also easy and approachable to beginners. Whimsical/different/unusual is a bonus. Plain weave and projects that appeal to color/texture weavers are welcome. But don’t be afraid to send those 16-draft projects as well. WeaveZine has room for all kinds of weavers.

Please send the following items with your ideas:
o Sketch and sample swatch of your design;
Please keep in mind that you must be able to size a garment in multiple sizes: S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X. You also must be able to write a pattern following Cast On guidelines (included). Please do not hand-write your submissions, with the exception of sketches and drawings. No previously published designs will be considered.
o Brief outline of your pattern, including proposed instructional notes:
What was your inspiration for the design? Include historical or cultural details, if appropriate.
Notes on techniques unique to the design: picot edges, starting and stopping cable designs within the piece, circular knitting, etc.
Suggestions for how to improve basic techniques used within the pattern (i.e., “cleaner cables: to prevent overlarge stitches when cabling, be sure to …”)
Helpful information embedded within the pattern explaining “the why” or an overview of a procedure (i.e., a brief general procedure for shaping a thumb gusset in amitten).
Optional elements. (i.e., how altering a cable pattern this way would change garment fit or look.)

Please include your proposed project design fee. Compensation is based on creativity, complexity, overall concept of design, thoroughness of all notes for teaching and aiding the knitter, and accuracy of patterns/instructions. Deductions will be taken from total payment for patterns which require significant editing or correcting, or for incomplete schematics/charts that Cast On must prepare.

Cast On Magazine welcomes submissions from designers!
Please send the following items with your ideas:
o Sketch and sample swatch of your design;
Please keep in mind that you must be able to size a garment in multiple sizes: S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X. You also must be able to write a pattern following Cast On guidelines (included). Please do not hand-write your submissions, with the exception of sketches and drawings. No previously published designs will be considered.
o Brief outline of your pattern, including proposed instructional notes:
What was your inspiration for the design? Include historical or cultural details, if appropriate.
Notes on techniques unique to the design: picot edges, starting and stopping cable designs within the piece, circular knitting, etc.
Suggestions for how to improve basic techniques used within the pattern (i.e., “cleaner cables: to prevent overlarge stitches when cabling, be sure to …”)
Helpful information embedded within the pattern explaining “the why” or an overview of a procedure (i.e., a brief general procedure for shaping a thumb gusset in amitten).
Optional elements. (i.e., how altering a cable pattern this way would change garment fit or look.)
