BKLYN Designs 2015 is New York's premier exhibition of contemporary furnishings and home accessories designed or manufactured in Brooklyn. This internationally renowned, juried exhibition features a dynamic collection of designs from the most innovative Brooklyn-based designers and manufacturers.


After over a decade in DUMBO, the event is moving to the Brooklyn Expo Center, the 40,000-square-foot facility in Greenpoint—a neighborhood that has become a hub of creative activity in the borough. Once again, thousands are expected to attend to take in the collection, which will include the latest contemporary furniture, lighting, carpet and flooring, wall coverings, tabletop/outdoor furniture, and accessories.

The National Basketry Organization (NBO) invites submissions to the biennial juried exhibition: All Things Considered VIII. This exhibition will be held in conjunction with the NBO 2015 Biennial Conference, co-hosted by NBO and the Textile Center in the Joan Mondale Gallery, Minneapolis, MN.

The NBO All Things Considered exhibitions over the past 15 years have become an important record of artistic work being done within traditional and contemporary basketry. They are unique in their focus on basketry and in their inclusion of the full range of work being executed by well-known and emerging artists.

The goal of the exhibition is to showcase benchmarks of excellence in traditional and sculptural basketry that demonstrate superior technique and original concept and design.

NBO encourages both established and emerging artists to submit work.


ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY FEES

The exhibition is open to all members of the National Basketry Organization. Artists must be current members of NBO to submit work for this exhibition. If you are not a current member, you may become a member through http://www.nationalbasketryorganization.org/.

Three pieces may be entered per artist. Works exhibited in previous NBO exhibitions are not eligible.

Work executed under classroom/educational guidance or supervision is not eligible and work must be completed in the last three years (2011 to 2014).

Work may not exceed six feet in any direction and weigh no more than can be handled by two people.

$30 entry fee required for all NBO members. Student member – no fee (attach a copy of student ID from a accredited educational institution). Payment required by PayPal or credit card through Juried Art Services online entry.

Small Works 2015 is the third edition of this rapidly growing show and will be held at the Shirt Factory Gallery. The Shirt Factory Gallery now offers three juried shows a year, bringing in artwork and introducing artists from across the country.

The gallery is located in a historic manufacturing building, brought to new life, which now houses more than 60 artist studios, shops, galleries and services. Its clean, modern design features an open floor format with a small annex.

Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design Artist-in-Residence program encourages emerging and mid-career artists by providing them a work space free-of-charge, access to a built-in audience and an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work. The residencies give the public and students in CAAD’s outreach and education programs the opportunity to learn about the techniques and processes involved in creating art with craft materials.

Residencies in clay, metals, fibers and wood turning are currently available for 6 or 12 months, beginning in September of each year.


Media requirements: Fiber, Clay, Small Metals, Woodturning


Applicants must be able to fulfill a program requirement of working in their studios 20 hours per week and take on the role of Studio Assistant. Teaching is encouraged.

Jury selection is based on quality of creative work, ability to interact with the public, and career direction. Residency start dates and length determined by program review panel. Accepted artists will be notified by phone in March.

• 3-6 residencies awarded
• 6 or 12 month residencies available
• Residency cycle begins in September and ends in August
• Each artist will receive a 180 square foot rent-free space equipped with phone and Internet access
• Each studio opens onto a common area, and the artists will have access to classroom studios for metals, clay, fiber, wood turning, and graphics, and also nearby water/sink facilities
• A wide variety of teaching opportunities are available through Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design’s Education Center and Community Outreach Program
• During the residency, artists’ creative work is represented by Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design and may be considered for sales in the Delmar Gallery Shop
• Additional opportunities are provided, such as discussions with curators and gallery owners, exposure at Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design events, and interactions with visiting art professionals
• Ongoing professional development
• Group exhibition at the end of residency cycle presented in the Delmar Loop Gallery

The New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb), Arts Nova Scotia, the Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council are partnering on an artist residency program. Artists from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI or Newfoundland and Labrador can apply for up to $10,000 to cover a one-to-three month residency for a creation-based or professional development project in the province that isn’t their own.

OBJECTIVES:

Among the program’s aims are the following:

• encourage artists to develop their skills by giving them access to a stimulating new cultural environment;
• promote the exchange of artistic views and contribute to the establishment of lasting ties between artists in the Atlantic Provinces and New Brunswick;
• strengthen ties between creators and communities;
• identify new artistic creation, production and presentation networks.

ELIGIBILITY:

• The program is for professional artists in the following disciplines: visual arts, arts and crafts, architecture, media arts, multidisciplinary arts, literature and storytelling, music, theatre and dance.
• Applicants must submit at the time of registration a letter of intent from the host organization in which the latter undertakes to offer professional support during the period of residence and that specifies the nature of the collaboration that the organization intends to establish in conjunction with the project.
• Candidates must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and must have lived in New Brunswick for at least the last 12 months.
• They must be eligible for the grant programs of artsnb, which means that they must have been in professional practice for at least two years and have presented works of art in a recognized professional setting.

PROJECT AND DURATION:

Interested candidates must submit to artsnb a residency proposal that includes a stay outside the province of one to three months. Candidates are responsible for finding their own accommodation and making any professional contacts required for their projects.

GRANTS AMOUNT:

The grant provided by artsnb under this program is $3,000 per month. It is intended to cover the following expenses: the artist's personal insurance, travel, accommodation and living expenses and the costs of purchasing, transporting and insuring the materials required to carry out the project. Applicants may also request up to an additional $1,000 to cover their travel expenses to and from their place of residency.

Fellowship: The Fine Arts Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to ten emerging artists and ten emerging writers each year from Oct.1 through April 30. Visual Arts Fellows are provided with a private, furnished apartment, a separate work studio of approximately 400 sq ft and a monthly stipend of $750.

Eligibility: The Fellowship is open to all emerging visual artists creating two-dimensional work, three-dimensional work, and time-based media work. Applicants are judged on the quality of their work and not on previous exhibition experience, resumes, recommendations or the like. The jury disqualifies applicants it deems to be already emerged—e.g., those who have had high profile solo exhibitions, or have been in significant group exhibitions such as biennials. Tenure track professors in Fine Arts who are on sabbaticals are considered ineligible.

Collaborative teams may apply under one application and if selected they will only be awarded one Fellowship to share. Applicants who would like to apply as an individual artist as well as part of a collaborative team may do so if these two bodies of work are completely different and distinctive.

Artists must be in residence during their Fellowships. Absences may not exceed more than fourteen consecutive days or total more than thirty days during the seven-month Fellowship. Please consider any personal or professional commitments you have made or anticipate before applying. The Fine Arts Work Center welcomes family members and partners of Fellows during the Fellowship Term. There is one pet-friendly apartment available for a Visual Artist.

International applicants are welcome to apply. The Fine Arts Work Center actively seeks applicants from all backgrounds, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, marital status, ancestry, disability, HIV status or veteran status.

Maine College of Art is seeking proposals from alumni for temporary, site-specific installations in the Congress Street window adjacent to June Fitzpatrick Gallery located at 522 Congress Street, Portland, Maine. The selected installations will remain on exhibit for approximately six weeks, and will be promoted as part of the First Friday Artwalk.

CRITERIA

Applicants must complete and submit a proposal. Submissions will be evaluated by the Artists at Work review committee. The selection panel will review submissions according to the following criteria:
•Artistic merit of the proposal
•Appropriateness and feasibility of proposal
•Availability of applicants for scheduled installation and de-installation dates.

ARTISTS RESPONSIBILITIES
•Artists are required to install the work.
•Artists are required to restore the space to its original condition.

COMPENSATION
•A stipend of $200 is available for each window installation.
•MECA will provide the artists with professional digital photographs of the installation.

The Yeiser Art Center is now accepting entries for the 2014 Fantastic Fibers competitive exhibition. This is the second year the Fantastic Fibers exhibition will be an American Quilter's Society sanctioned event. All forms of fiber art are encouraged to enter.

Contemporary and innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium are welcome. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and over working in the field of fiber art. All work submitted must be original, completed in the last three years and not previously exhibited in a Fantastic Fibers exhibition. There are no size restrictions.

Open to all fiber artists. Employees, staff, board and committee members of the Yeiser Art Center, and employees of Paducah Printing and Horizon Media Group are ineligible.

History: In 2013 we received nearly 800 entries from 128 artists from 12 countries. Fantastic Fibers 2014 is hosted by the Yeiser Art Center, Paducah's Gateway to the Arts. Located in downtown Paducah, the Yeiser Art Center is a non-profit visual arts organization celebrating more than fifty years of serving the community through exhibitions and education throughout the Tri-State Region.

Paducah is the home of the National Quilt Museum. The American Quilter's Society Annual Show and Contest will be held in Paducah from April 23 - 26, 2014.

The Arrowmont Artists-in-Residence Program provides early career, self-directed artists time, space and support to experiment and develop a new body of work in a creative supportive community environment of 160 rotating visiting workshop artists/instructors, national and regional media conferences/symposia and hundreds of students. The program encourages early career artists who embrace community and enjoy working in a team environment to apply.

Each year, five artists working in different media are selected to participate in the 11-month program, which begins in mid-June and continues through late May of the following year. Artists are given a monthly stipend, shared housing with private bedrooms and meals (during workshop sessions), and a private well lit studio with climate control, a basic work table, shelving and sink. Professional development opportunities and teaching opportunities are made available though funding and networking sources. At the conclusion of the program, residents exhibit their work collectively in the Arrowmont main gallery and have opportunities to sell their work through Arrowmont’s Artist Outfitters Store.

The ideal candidate for the Arrowmont Artists-in-Residence Program is an early career, self-motivated individual able to work well independently and within a larger organization. The successful resident is eager to be involved with Arrowmont's diverse existing program offerings such as workshops, conferences, community partnerships and exhibitions. Candidates who enjoy the team spirit in working with staff, other residents and visiting artists/instructors are encouraged to apply. The five artists selected each year work in a variety of media which reflects the strength of Arrowmont workshop offerings and resources. The Arrowmont Artists-in-Residence Program is open to permanent residents of the United States.

Form, Not Function: Quilt Art at the Carnegie is an exhibition exploring the world of contemporary art quilts. This annual, juried exhibit draws works of art by artists across the United States and celebrates innovation and creative thought in the increasingly popular medium of art quilts. It has grown over the years from the first exhibition in 2004, organized thanks to the efforts of the River City Fiber Artists, to the 2013 exhibition that received 341 entries from 128 artists.

Eligibility:

• Form, Not Function is an annual juried exhibit of contemporary quilt art, open to artists living in the United States.
• All works must be quilted (two ormore distinct layers held together with stitches); other techniques and mediums may be incorporated.
• Works must be ready to hang on the wall, including the hangingrod.
• Works must be original and completed since January 1, 2010.
• There is no minimum or maximum size. (Gallery walls are 12 feet high. Works cannot be suspended from the ceiling.)
• Three-dimensional works (including those mounted on stretchers) are eligible, but must be ready to exhibit on the floor, on a pedestal or include mounting hardware for wall display.

Entry Fee: $30.00 for three works; $10.00 for each additional work.

The New Hampshire Institute of Art is pleased to announce a call for entries to The Art is the Cloth, a traveling juried exhibition of contemporary hand-woven tapestry. In this exhibition artists will explore the various ways in which their tapestry making reflects on the nature of hand-woven tapestry: as a piece of cloth.

The Art is the Cloth will include those pieces which fill any of the following requirements:

1. self-referential: images of clothing and the domestic fabric of every day lives—curtains, bed spreads, towels

2. historical self-referential: exploration of imagery from historical tapestries

3. particular kinds of trompe-l’oeil: folded paper, or envelopes with canceled stamps, or flags unfurling, or rumpled blankets, etc.

4. native american/first peoples/indigenous contemporary re-workings of the traditional: Navajo, Salish, Hopi, Saltillo, Zapotec, etc.

5. exploration of the elements of weaving: effort to draw attention to the weaving itself, special materials for warp and/or weft

6. attention to the process of weaving: pieces where the story they tell develops in the order in which the tapestry is woven


The exhibition is open to all citizens of North America — Canada, the United States, Mexico. The tapestries must be one of a kind, hand-woven and completed since January, 2011. Artists may submit up to three pieces but only one piece per artist will be accepted.

The Contemporary Artists Center (CAC) focuses on emerging and early career contemporary artists.

CAC Woodside accepts artists for residencies who offer quality, seriousness, or experience in their art and encourages diversity of style, medium, and concepts.


Applications to the residency program are accepted on a rolling basis. However, priority consideration and fellowships will be awarded to those applying by the deadlines. Please indicate if alternate dates will be considered in the event that the dates you request become filled. Applicants are encouraged to apply even if the priority deadlines are passed, in the event that the dates requested and/or funding may still be available.


Residency fees are a flat rate of $290 per week or $1150 per month and include accommodation and access to all CAC Woodside facilities. If you are interested in using the studios without accommodation please contact us for reduced rates. All returning artists receive a 15% discount on residencies.


CAC Woodside provides awards to approximately 95% of Residents. Please apply by priority deadlines for consideration. Award amounts range from $50/wk to full cost. To apply for an award you must provide a short statement of proposed residency project and check the "apply for award" box. Awards will be given based on the strength of the proposal and demonstrated artistic ability.

February 1 for residency beginning between April 1 and June 30
May 1 for residency beginning between July 1 and Sept 30
August 1 for residency beginning between Sept 8 and Dec 31


The residency includes use of all CAC studios and equipment. Specialized facilities will include:

•woodshop
•Tool Library (open April 2013)
•computer/video/sound station
•sewing/fabric area
•open air artmaking hut
•and limited printmaking facilities


Time spent at the CAC allows artists to revitalize their ideas, develop their work, meet peers and explore new options. This is a self-directed residency program with the opportunity to participate in 2013 scheduled CAC programs, including residency exhibitions, weekly critiques, Tool Library workshops, studio & museum visits, and outings to local art events.

The 2014 National Juried Show is open to all Canadian citizens and residents, as well as non-resident members of the CQA/ACC. Over $50,000 in prizes offered by the Sponsors.

For an entry to be accepted, the online entry form must be filled in completely, including all the required photographs and documents.

Fees: $25.00 ($75.00 for non-members) plus tax for each entry.

Requirements (truncated)

• Entry is open to all Canadian residents, Canadian citizens, and CQA/ACC individual members. (If you are not a Canadian citizen or resident, you MUST be a CQA/ACC member to enter).
• Original Design Realistic Pictorial Wall Quilts depict subject matter in an accurate and realistic manner and demonstrate personal expression and originality in design, colour and/or techniques.
• Acknowledgement must be given to anyone participating in the execution of the work.
• Quilts must not exceed 436 inches in perimeter.
• Group quilts means 3 or more quilt makers. Choose 1 person to represent the group as the ‘artist.’
• Work must have been completed after January 1, 2012.
• Work must NOT have been shown in a Canadian national-level juried/judged quilting exhibition/competition prior to June 2014.
• Artists submitting works from outside of Canada will be responsible for all customs arrangements and transportation costs.

Form, Not Function is an annual juried exhibit of contemporary quilt art, open to artists living in the United States. All works must be quilted (two or more distinct layers held together with stitches); other techniques and mediums may be incorporated. Works must be ready to hang on the wall, including the hanging rod. Works must be original and completed since January 1, 2009. There is no minimum or maximum size. (Gallery walls are 12 feet high. Works cannot be suspended from the ceiling.) Three-dimensional works (including those mounted on stretchers) are eligible, but must be ready to exhibit on the floor, on a pedestal or include mounting hardware for wall display.

Entry Fee: $30.00 for three works; $10.00 for each additional work.

The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) focuses on emerging and early career contemporary artists.

We seek artists who want to produce, explore, test new concepts, and expand the current debates and ideas in contemporary art and culture. The CAC accepts artists for
residencies who offer quality in their art and encourages diversity of style, medium (2-D, 3-D, 4-D) and concepts.

The residency program offers artists the time and support to create new work and fosters an environment that encourages creativity, dialog, and experimentation.

Costs and Awards

Buffalo Featured 2011 city award: Open to artists from the Buffalo area. One artist per season to be selected by Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center. Award amount is full cost plus $400-$750 stipend.
