Wild about Art at the Toledo Zoo! is a uniquely wild, two-day art fair taking place on our beautiful Zoo grounds, features local and regional artists with various mediums on display for thousands of visitors. We are seeking creative artists and skilled makers to take part in Wild about Art. This event will include entertainment, hands-on activities and of course animals.


GENERAL INFORMATION

Mediums permitted: Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Glass, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Metal Working, Photography, Printmaking/Graphics, Sculpture, Textiles and Wood. Work does not have to be animal related.

The Zoo is a family-friendly environment and certain subject matters, including but not limited to nudity and offensive language and symbols, will not be accepted. The Zoo reserves the right to exclude and/or remove pieces at their sole discretion.


Application Fee: $25 Non-refundable. Must be processed through ZAPP.

Taoyuan International Art Award 2025

The Taoyuan International Art Award aims to cultivate talent in contemporary art and create a strong foundation for the research and creation of contemporary art, as well as to expand global perspectives, strengthen international exchanges, and encourage the diversified development of art practices.

Eligibility:
A. Artists may participate as an individual or a group. There are no limits on nationality. Simultaneous registrations in both the individual and group categories are prohibited. However, this restriction does not apply to those participating as working members of other teams.
B. Works must be new pieces presented to the public for the first time and have never entered government-organized competitions in Taiwan.

2D work: painting/photography /mixed media
3D work: sculpture/3D object/installation/pluridisciplinary works

Entries:
1. Submitted entries are not limited in material, category, or size.
The space for an individual exhibit is in principle no larger than 600x600x250cm. Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts (TMoFA) will provide the finalized dimensions upon the announcement of the selected artists. The TMoFA reserves the right to adjust the display space according to the exhibition space planning.
2. Each individual/group is limited to registering one piece (or set) of work. Once registration is confirmed, changes are not allowed.
3. Works that pass the preliminary review must be displayed during the secondary review according to the exhibition plan submitted at registration.

Awards:
  • Grand Prize *1: A prize of NT$600,000, one trophy, one award certificate, and five albums.
  • Honorable Mention *3: A prize of NT$200,000, one trophy, one award certificate, and five albums.
  • Sojourn Award *1: A subsidy of NT$350,000 for a tour abroad is offered to a Taiwanese participant, one trophy, one award certificate, and three albums. The awardee is obliged to complete his/her sojourn within 2 years after the end of the exhibition. After returning to Taiwan, the awardee shall present a written report (the electronic copy will be published online) and certificates of flight ticket issuance.
  • Selected Award: One award certificate and three albums.
*Taxes are included in the aforementioned amounts pursuant to the relevant regulations governing taxes in Taiwan.
*Please be advised that the actual amounts of the prizes are subject to the budget approved by Taoyuan City Council.

Summer Residency (up to 2 student residents)

-Duration: May 1 - August 31, 2013
-Supervised access to our 1100Sq./ft. studio space
-Subsidized monthly studio fees
-Eligible to attend annual international artist summer workshop at reduced rate (50% off the regular fee)
-Consideration for summer residency is contingent on applicants’ intention to return to school full-time in the fall
-Applicants must indicate their intended summer project and have prior experience in a shared studio environment
-References should include a textile instructor and studio technologist

***residency is offered as a $500 scholarship (a reduced monthly rate of $175 - as opposed to $300 - for the 4 months,resulting in the $500 scholarship)


Submission Requirements
-Resume and a brief expression of interest outlining your interest in, and any applicable experience related to, the textile arts and to working within a co-operative arts studio.
-3-5 digital images (JPEG) with image list indicating dimensions, date, title and materials, or reference to web site.
-2 professional references, including addresses and phone numbers (References must be other than those of an existing Co-op member, and should relate to your experience in collaborative work environments.)

International Quilt Festival will be presenting Hands All Around 2013: International Quilts at our annual Market and Festival in Houston this fall. This exhibit will premiere at International Quilt Market and Festival, October 26 - November 3, 2013. We would also like to retain quilts for possible exhibit at International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati (April 2014), and our summer International Quilt Festivals in Chicago (June 2014) and Long Beach (August 2014).

As it has been for the past twenty-eight years, Hands All Around will be the showcase for contemporary international quilt design at our shows. The exhibit will again be sponsored by Quilters Newsletter®, whose editors will assist us in the selection process. We invite you to submit work for consideration.

You may submit a total of two quilts for our consideration. Quilts must be a minimum of 25" x 25". There is no "made after" date requirement.

Completed submissions with visuals must be received online by April 26, 2013

This exhibit will premiere at International Quilt Market and Festival, October 26–November 3, 2013. We would also like to retain quilts for possible exhibit at International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati (April 2014), and our summer International Quilt Festivals in Chicago (June 2014) and Long Beach (August 2014).

You may submit a total of two quilts for our consideration. Quilts must be a minimum of 25" x 25". There is no "made after" date requirement. Please do not submit a quilt that was included in a previous edition of Tactile Architecture™.


Registration will open on March 1, 2013. The last day to register is April 26, 2013.

This exhibit is open to guilds in Texas holding a guild show and contest, a minimum of one show every three years.

You and your guild are invited to participate in this exciting exhibit focusing on the Texas traditional quilter. Simply submit the winning traditional quilts from your last guild show to be considered for inclusion in the exhibit.
