American Tapestry Biennial 11

ATA invites all tapestry artists to submit works to American Tapestry Biennial 11.

Entry to ATB 11 is open to all tapestry artists who design and weave their own tapestries (defined as “hand-woven, weft-faced fabric with discontinuous wefts”), either individually or collaboratively (all assistants shall be named). Multimedia work will be considered as long as the primary medium is tapestry.

Entries must be one-of-a-kind and have been completed after January 2012. Entries may not have been shown previously in any ATA exhibition, including the Unjuried Small Format show. Artists may submit up to three pieces, but a maximum of one piece per artist will be accepted.


Submissions: The juror will select tapestries from digital images; image quality may influence the juror’s decision. Only completed tapestries will be juried. Image submissions must be digital.


Entry Fees: $35 ATA members, $55 Non- Members, $70 Membership & Entry Fee

Fellowships provide the opportunity for artists and/or artist teams to create ambitious new projects and exhibit work while in residence at Franconia Sculpture Park. Franconia’s fellowship program includes FSP/Jerome Fellowships (available to artists in New York City and Minnesota) and Open Studio Fellowships (open to artists in all 50 states). Only one application is required to apply to either fellowship opportunity.

Fellowship Program Details

• Up to 10 artists or artist teams will be selected
• Fellowship artists receive a stipend of $4K - $5K to support their time in residence and the creation of new work
• Residencies last a minimum of 4 weeks
◦ Must take place between April 1, 2015 and September 12, 2015
◦ Fellows may NOT be in residence the last week of July or the first week of August.
• Artwork created during the fellowship will be included in Franconia’s outdoor exhibition for a minimum of 1 year.

Review Process


A panel of five jurors comprised of arts professionals will make the selection for Franconia’s 2015 Residency Fellowships. During the review process, panelists are looking for emerging and mid-career artists or artist teams who are ambitious, self-challenging, present a professional application, and who will gain professional experience from the residency and exhibition opportunity at Franconia.

10th Annual Fashion Art Toronto Arts

& Fashion Week

Fashion Art Toronto Arts & Fashion Week celebrates inventive and contemporary expression through runway shows, photography exhibits, art installations, fashion films and performance. This annual multi-arts event, held every April, features 200 Canadian and international designers and artists each year and welcomes over 5000 guests; including buyers, curators, the media and fashion and art lovers in general.

Fashion Art Toronto Arts & Fashion Week invites fashion designers, installation artists and fiber artists to apply to show their work for the 10th edition of |FAT| April 21 25, 2015 in Toronto, Canada. Any mediums, materials, messages, visual presentations and performance used to deal with fashion, fabric, clothing or the body in a new, exciting and unorthodox way are all encouraged to be explored.

Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden

The Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden is currently seeking submissions for its Art Competition for 2014. Artists are invited to submit two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art, including installation and multi-media for the Museum’s multiple indoor galleries and outdoor garden.

Awards
The first place winner will be awarded a solo exhibition in the Hays Gallery. The other finalists will be awarded a group exhibition in the Guild Hall Gallery or Goelet Gallery or in the Japanese Stroll Garden.


Eligibility
Artists are eligible to submit original artworks that have been completed within the past three years and not previously exhibited at The Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden. This Call is open to artists 18 years of age or older living and/or working in the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Hays Gallery, Goelet Gallery and Guild Hall – Paintings, works on papers, photography, mixedmedia, textiles, digital/video art and sculpture.

Japanese Stroll Garden – Artists may apply in any medium that is appropriate and sustainable in an outdoor environment for three months.


Entry Rules (truncated)
Artists must enter online.
  • A maximum of six (6) works/person may be submitted. Including title, medium, date of work and dimensions of each image.
  • For two-dimensional pieces, provide one (1) image per work.
  • For three-dimensional and installation pieces, artist may provide two images per work – a front and rear view or an overall view and a detail.
  • For video based media submissions, please provide in QuickTime or Windows Media Player format and should be no longer that a one-minute trailer or please provide a
    link to view through Vimeo, YouTube or personal website.


Application Fees
: $35.00 for 1 to 3 works; $50.00 for 4 to 6 works.
All entries are non-refundable.


Judging
The winners will be judged and selected by Mr. David Revere McFadden, Curator Emeritus Museum of Arts and Design, New York, New York.

Franconia’s fellowship, internship, and residency programs offer opportunities for artists to live, create, and exhibit three-dimensional artwork in the sculpture park. While in residence, artists are encouraged to challenge themselves to achieve new visions, work on a massive scale generally unattainable in an indoor studio or exhibition space, and engage with the public as they are creating new work. The community building aspect of the residency programs helps artists develop invaluable professional network that sparks future projects and collaborations, propels academic opportunities, provides meaningful peer feedback, and establishes lifelong relationships.

Fellowships provide the opportunity for artists and/or artist teams to create ambitious projects and exhibit new work while in residence at Franconia Sculpture Park. Sculpture, site-specific, multi-media, performance, and installation proposals are considered. Franconia’s fellowship program includes FSP/Jerome Fellowships and Open Studio Fellowships. Only one application is required to apply to all available fellowships.

Applicants are encouraged to review the roster of past fellowship artists and their projects.

Fellowship Program Details

• Up to 10 artists or artist teams will be selected
• Fellowships receive a stipend of $4K - $5K to support their time in residence and the creation of new artwork
• Residencies last a minimum of 3 weeks and take place between April 1, 2014 and September 15, 2014. Fellows may NOT be in residence the last week of July or the first week of August.
• Artwork created during the fellowship will be included in Franconia’s outdoor exhibition for a minimum of 1 year
• Artists are provided onsite housing in a 9-bedroom farmhouse
• Studio space in the 7,000 sq. ft. outdoor work area is shared by all artists-in-residence
• Most tools and equipment needed to produce large-scale artwork is available
• Franconia is a public park; Fellows interact with the public on a daily basis and are expected to participate in community programming during their residency

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants who do not meet the following criteria will not be considered.

• Fellowships are for the creation of new work only.
• Applicants must be active and practicing artists, evident in resume or CV.
• Fellowships are given to U.S. residents and/or applicants who have a valid work visa.
• Artists may NOT be enrolled in a degree-seeking program, either part-time or full-time, at an institution of higher learning during the Fellowship.
• Applicant’s work falls in the area of sculpture or three-dimensional installation, multi-media, or site-specific.
• Artists are eligible to receive this fellowship once every three years, however applicants who are previous recipients are subject to a more rigorous review.

The application deadline for the 2014 Residency Fellowships is February 8, 2014. Materials must be received via email by MIDNIGHT CST. Incomplete applications will not be considered. To apply for Franconia’s 2014 Residency Fellowships, submit the following materials to fellowships@franconia.org. Applicants will be notified by March 1, 2014 of the status of their application.

Submitting as an Artist Team
If you are proposing a collaboration between two or more artists, all involved individuals must be active and practicing artists. Please include separate cover pages and resumes/CVs for each artist.
