A Call for Book & Paper Arts. Book Arts: Handmade artist's books or book art objects, showing excellence in bookmaking or altered book techniques, including books made of any medium (not just paper), as well as the art & craft of letterpress printing, bookbinding, book art sculptures, etc. Paper Arts, including innovative or traditional explorations of paper sculpture, papermaking, etc.

ELIGIBILITY:
- Open to artists worldwide.
- Maximum of 3 pieces (artworks) per artist.
- Wall mounted work must include fixtures and be ready to hang.
- All work must be original (i.e. no reproductions of original artwork).
- All work must not have been previously shown in the Sebastopol Arts Gallery.

Juror: Donna Seager of Seager Gray Gallery


Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $100, and two $50 Coordinators’ Awards.


Entry-Fees SebArts Members: $25 for one entry/$35 for two entries/$40 for three entries.

Entry Fees Non-Members: $35 for one entry/$45 for two entries/$50 for three entries.
Note: Seb Arts Individual Membership is $75/year. Joining upon submission is encouraged (though not required).

Theme: Destination Venice—the Journey Continues



The University of Iowa Museum of Art is seeking 12 artists to create wearable works of art inspired by global mask-making traditions. Works will be featured during the 2015 Museum Party, Destination Venice—the Journey Continues, where guests will vote and prizes will be awarded to the three artists who receive the most votes. Works will then be displayed for two weeks in downtown Iowa City storefronts.

The theme of the 2015 Museum Party is Destination Venice—the Journey Continues, in celebration of UIMA’s exciting journey towards a new, permanent home, and of our international recognition at the prestigious Venice Art Biennale 56th International Art Exhibition, which opens on May 9, 2015. Jackson Pollock’s Mural will be featured at the American Pavilion housed at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice.

All submissions will be blind juried by the UIMA Members Council and artists will be notified of their acceptance by March 6th.

Criteria:
 A full written description of the mask-making project explaining the inspiration for and story of the object, dimensions, materials and presentation specifications (300 words or less) is required upon submission.
 The mask may be created from any media. Please keep in mind that the final works will be presented by live models as well as displayed in downtown stores.
 Each artist will be given a $100 materials stipend and be eligible to receive a 20% materials discount at Blick Art Materials.

“Inspiring Spaces”

The City of Ocala and the Marion Cultural Alliance invites anyone over the age of 18 to submit entries for Culture Builds…(“Inspiring Spaces”). The juror will select work to be exhibited; judge’s decisions will be final. Awards totaling $2,000 will be given at the discretion of the judge.

ENTRY PROCEEDURE
  • Each artist may submit up to five pieces for judging.
  • A non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 for non-members of MCA and $25.00 for MCA members for submission will be charged allowing for the submission of one to three pieces of work.
  • A fourth and fifth piece of work may be submitted for an additional fee of $5.00 for each piece.


SPECIFICATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS (truncated)
  1. Only original drawings, oils, watercolors, acrylics, graphics, photography, mixed media, fiber, and sculpture completed within the last three years may be submitted.
  2. All work must be properly prepared for display.
  3. Pieces to be hung must be wired for hanging. Hanging pieces have a weight limit of 75 lbs.
  4. Sculpture must be able to be displayed on a stand no larger than 16”w x 16”d x 48”h.
  5. Not acceptable work includes: crafts, jewelry, copies of published work, pieces requiring electricity, pieces more than 60 inches in width, or any work previously exhibited in Marion County.
  6. Sale of artwork is encouraged, and work will be offered for sale at the price originally stated by the artist on the entry form.
  7. here will be a 30% commission on all works sold.
