The Exhibitions Program is a core part of the historic Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia, located in the greater Washington DC area.

Workhouse Building W-16 hosts three gallery spaces; the McGuireWoods Gallery on the second floor, and the Vulcan and Muse Galleries on the first floor, with approximately 15 total exhibitions programmed yearly. 

ENTRY GUIDELINES 

This open call facilitates submissions from parties interested in having a solo or group exhibition at Workhouse in Building W-16. Applications are reviewed by a jury panel every six months in January and June of each calendar year.

Selections will be made based on images and information submitted on the entry form.

Exhibitions will be placed in galleries based on medium, quantity of artworks, and availability in the Exhibitions Program calendar.
 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Open to all artists 18 years and older.

The jurors will make final determinations. Size is limited to artwork that fits through a standard door. Floor works must be firmly stable. Large scale installations shall be installed by artist. Artworks to be assembled on site by Workhouse Arts Center must include detailed instructions provided by the artist. Wall-mounted pieces are limited to 20 lbs. per section.

The City and Craft Museum presents Paper Global 6, the International Paper Arts Triennale. The focus is on the large judged art exhibition of paper art.

 
Opening weekend celebrates a large paper festival where the focus will be on the popular paper market with high-quality craftsmanship made of paper only.

Application
Applications for the exhibition are made online via the platform provided by the Deggendorf Museums. Only complete and clearly identifiable applications will be admitted to the jury. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Jury
The exhibition is judged by a jury. The jury's decision is final. Due to the high number of applications, the jury does not comment on individual decisions.

 
If the work does not correspond to the submitted photo, we reserve the right to exclude the work retroactively.

 
The exhibition will be curated by the Deggendorf Museums. The exhibition takes place in the Art Gallery in the City Museum and in the Craft Museum. Both museums are equal parts of the exhibition, the curators decide on the placement of the art in the exhibition. This decision is final.

Catalogue
A bilingual catalogue will be published in German and English. All participants are represented with a work in the catalogue.

The Multiple eXposure Project is run by a small group of image-makers, visual artists, and researchers coming from different backgrounds, with a wide range of interests.


We are happy to announce that we will be publishing the very first issue of our collaborative zine and we are now accepting submissions until December 31, 2014.

The theme of our upcoming zine is "Self-as-Subject", an exploration of the “self” and its manifold permutations – its presence, identity, representation, liminality, and (dis)embodiment - in this day and age of digital madness, hyperreality and mobility.

The zine is multimedia so we are accepting text and image-based submissions related to the theme in any format imaginable such as: articles, essays, reviews, short stories, poetry, interviews, photographs (digital or analogue), visual narratives, videos, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, mixed media, collages, experimental pieces, etc. Collaborative projects are very much welcome. Multiple entries are also accepted. Digital and printed copies of the zine will be released.

Some notes to remember:
- Please include your name, short profile, country of origin, and blog/website (if applicable) in your email.
- Photo submissions in jpeg format must include a title and description.
- When necessary, please follow the proper citations (MLA style) in article submissions.

Fiber Art Now is an international quarterly print magazine, created to inspire and connect the contemporary fiber arts and textiles community. We feature the most compelling work, ideas, and craftsmanship in the world of contemporary fiber arts and textiles.

Fiber Art Now announces a call for submission of works of fiber art for publication in the magazine’s Spring 2014 “On View” feature. The theme of this collection is ON THE WILD SIDE. You are invited to interpret this theme as literally or liberally as you like. Please take the time to read the instructions closely. Choose your best work appropriate for the topic.

Our editorial team will review all submissions received and may select your image to feature in the magazine. Your submission must include all of the following information. Please email your submission to ElenaRosenberg@FiberArtNow.net

Here are the details:

• Deadline: December 31, 2013

• Image File (JPG, etc) of your submission, sized at about 600 pixels on the shortest side. Do NOT send high-resolution files for your initial submission; do NOT send PDFs or ZIP files.

• Your name, city and country of residence.
• Title of submitted work, dimensions, technique. You do not need to describe your technique in detail. Please simply state the technique as “embroidery on silk”, “wool tapestry”, etc.
• Statement about you and/or your work. This statement should be 50 WORDS MAXIMUM.
• Link to your artist website, if any.
• Photography credit.

Note: Please send no more than 1-3 images per artist.

Important: If your work is selected, you will be asked to provide, on short notice, a high-resolution (300 dpi, sized to 4″x6″ or larger) image file of your work. If the photographer of the work is someone other than you, you will need to secure their permission to publish the photograph.

The Idea: "Water is the elixir of life," and the most valuable resource on our planet. What are your associations with this element?

Quilters around the world are invited to take part in the second International Block Swap (IBS2). Make 9 quilt blocks with a water theme and send them to us. All participants will be grouped into teams and the blocks will be swapped within the team. You will get back your own block plus 8 different blocks from quilters around the world.


The Rules:
Sew 9 identical RECTANGULAR blocks 6" x 18" or 15 cm x 45 cm plus a seam allowance of 1/4“ or 0.75 cm on each side.
The predominant colour MUST be BLUE (ie more than 50% of the surface should be blue). More colours MAY be used. Please use only good quality, prewashed cotton fabric.
You may use any textile technique or any block pattern. If you use embellishments, please make sure that these don‘t exceed a depth of 1/4" or 0.5 cm and that the block can still be quilted.

Please enclose 9 picture postcards of your town/region/country in your block package. You may use the postcard to convey as much information about yourself as you wish (eg hobbies, family, e-mail and/or mail address etc.).


Swapped blocks will be sent in January 2014.


The Registration fee for EACH set of blocks is as follows:
15 Euros for EU participants
20 Euros (or 25 USD) for everyone else
The return shipping address for the block packages is the determining factor.

Paid up members of Quilt around the World should deduct the special member discount of 5 Euros.


The "Water for the World" Community Quilt:
We would like to have a lasting reminder of IBS2 and to this end are asking you to make and send an extra block on a voluntary basis, of course, which we will then sew together to make a gigantic "Water for the World" community quilt.

2012 marks the centennial of the appearance of collage in painting. In that time, collage has become ubiquitous within contemporary art and culture, and its myriad applications have arguably expanded its original definition to become the most inclusive of artistic processes. Collage at 100 is a three-part exhibition series that opens in September of 2012 and runs through June of 2013. All media considered. The series aims to explore collage within contemporary art practices as much as it endeavors to examine the conceptual and political manifestations of this evolving artistic strategy.

Eligibility
All works must be original and collage-based—anything that involves either an analog or virtual combination of images and/or objects. Glue and fasteners of any type are anticipated, however, these per se are not a prerequisite. All media will be considered. The gallery reserves the right to reject work that differs from submitted images. Preference will be given to any work created in the last three years.

Each entrant may submit up to ten individual works total, and may, if need be, submit up to five detail images per entry for communicating alternate views — in cases of sculpture or installation entries, etc.

The Thompson Gallery, located at The Cambridge School of Weston, Weston, MA, is a teaching gallery dedicated to exploring a single theme through three separate exhibitions, offering differing vantages throughout the school year. Named in honor of CSW trustee John Thompson and family, the Thompson Gallery promotes

Exhibition Seasons: 2011-12 and 2012-13


The Indianapolis Art Center Exhibitions Department is accepting proposals for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 exhibition seasons and for outdoor work for ArtsPark.

Any artist 18 or older may submit a proposal to be considered for a solo or group exhibition by sending a complete artist's packet to Exhibits Dept. 820 E. 67th St. Indianapolis, IN 46220. Proposals will be accepted until December 31, 2010.

Please send a CD and include:

•an artist statement
•a resume or biography
•12-15 images of individual works (details may be included)
•A list with title, media, size, and year completed for each image
•support documents such as reviews of prior exhibitions
•a detailed diagram of the proposed layout if it is an installation
•videos of performance work may also be included as part of the packet.

Priority will be given to artists living or working within 250 miles of Indianapolis, however, all proposals will be given equal consideration. All proposals collected during the year will be reviewed during March 2011 for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, and you will be notified about your status before the end of June 2011. Your work may be paired with that of other artists in a group exhibition. Proposal materials will not be returned unless the artist provides a SASE.
