HARP is designed to support collaboration across disparate art forms by nurturing hybrid artists in the development of dynamic live performances. HARP provides significant long-term artistic, financial, and administrative support, tailored to each artist's individual needs.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

HARP is designed to assist mid-career individual artists or collaborative teams (writers, performers, composers, directors, designers, dramaturgs, puppeteers, dancers, singers) working in a hybrid manner in live performance.

We define a mid-career artist as one who has:

(1) completed their education within the last 8-15 years

(2) had at least a few significant residency or commissioning opportunities,

(3) created a body of work over at least 5 years and at least one full evening-length work, and

(4) earns some income from their art practice.

Artists must also meet the following criteria:

*The artist or team are residents of the NY metro area
*The artist or team find themselves at a crossroads in their career in developing a distinctive form/style/content of work, or is interested in stretching the previously accepted boundaries of their work by experimentation with form/style/content
*The artist or team is interested in actively participating both in the community of HERE and in a peer-based program aimed at exchanging resources, ideas, critique, and support.
*The artist or team should be linked to a specific project that is early in its development process and has secured any rights needed to work with any pre-existing material for the project.

Additionally, HARP believes that diversity is extremely important within the makeup of the residency program. HARP actively seeks this diversity both from the work itself in terms of genre and content, and in the background of the artists.

The selection panel includes HERE leadership, artists, and performing arts curators from NYC.


Funding Resources:
In addition to the extensive range of community, development, and production resources, HERE offers each resident artist a developmental commission, seed funds and workshop fees in order to develop their project. The developmental commission, paid out in monthly installments, ranges up to $5400 for a three year residency.

HERE also provides each artist with an annual seed fund of $1000 and with a fee of $1250-$2000 for a workshop in our annual CULTUREMART festival. All of these funds may be used as each artist deems fit for their individual project. In addition, there are fees for creators and their collaborators in the budget for the final production. The budget is developed jointly by HERE and the artist and HERE allocates at least $20,000 towards the final production in addition to partnering with the artist to raise project-specific funding.

The Salem Art Fair & Festival is a three-day outdoor celebration of the visual and performing arts. The primary focus of the event is the juried exhibition of gallery quality fine art and fine crafts, giving our audience the rare opportunity to meet, interact with, view the works of and purchase art from the individuals who have created it. Additionally, the festival offers artist demonstrations, art activities for children, live performances on 2 stages, and quality food, beer and wine.

RULES OF THE SHOW

1. All work must be original, handcrafted work. Artist guarantees the accuracy of the description of the works presented and the authenticity of the work as the creation of their own hands.
2. Work done by a production studio is not acceptable. All work must be designed and executed by the accepted artist.
3. No more than two artists may collaborate on work. Both must be included on and sign the application. Both must be present at the Salem Art Fair & Festival (SAF&F).
4. Artists wishing to share a booth must obtain permission from the Show Director. No more than 2 artists with different work may share a booth.
5. Artists must be present with their work for the entire three days of the SAF&F. Representatives may not attend in place of the artist. The SAF&F will require photo identification at check-in to ensure compliance.
6. Artists may only show work in categories and body of work selected by the Jury. All work exhibited must be of the quality, category and body of work of that shown in the images juried.
7. Reproductions of an artist’s original work may be exhibited and must reside within a 5 ft wide by 10 ft area of a 10 ft by 10 ft booth or a 10 ft by 10 ft space in a double booth. Artists also may have no more than one bin of reproductions. Reproductions must be labeled as a reproduction or a limited edition and must be numbered (may not exceed 250).

MEDIA CATEGORIES
Media categories are used by the Salem Art Fair & Festival as a tool for organizing artists' images into logical, related groups for the jury's review. While a balanced show that equitably showcases both works of fine art and fine craft as well as diversity among media is a principal Salem Art Fair & Festival objective, the festival establishes no quota or entitlement by media category.

In order to ensure that the rules are followed, all booths will be vetted daily.

An international juried exhibit featuring high quality, contemporary works created in any material using any fiber technique.

Let the inspiration of outside influences, change of environment, new materials, and the incorporation of neighboring ideas inspire you for this all media fiber arts exhibit, which is open to artists using any fiber arts technique.

Eligibility: This exhibit is open to all artists working with fiber or fiber techniques.
Three pieces may be entered per artist. Works exhibited in previous Convergence conference exhibits are not eligible.

Submitted work is limited to works made using fiber techniques (interlaced, felted, stitched, dyed, coiled, knotted, pulled, spun, etc.) and can be of any material. All work must be of exhibition quality, completed within the last two years (since January 2012), and not previously published in any national or international print publication prior to the entry deadline..

The size of finished work may not exceed 60 inches (1.524 meters) in any dimension and it may not exceed 30 pounds (13.6 kilograms) in weight.

Work executed under classroom/educational guidance or supervision is not eligible.

Entry Fees: $25 HGA member, $40 non-HGA member, Student (attach copy of student ID from accredited educational institution), no fee. Payment in U.S. funds by check or money order or charge to credit card.

Juror: Anastasia Azure. Anastasia Azure combines ancient weaving, traditional metalsmithing, and contemporary materials to create sculpture and jewelry in Providence, Rhode Island.

ENTRY RULES
Each entry must:
* include the entry fee of $20.
* include a signed copy of the Entry Form
* include artists statement, including materials used
* include pictures of item electronically
* be ready to wear
* have a sewn cloth label on the back (inside) listing the name of the piece, the artist’s name, address, and phone number,
* be packed in a cloth bag/box labeled with the artist's name, address, and phone

If the artist chooses to offer for sale, the price of the garment must be listed on the entry form; the Alaska Fiber Arts Association will retain 20% of the sale price.

Artists are responsible for door-to-door shipment and return freight, insurance for freight is responsibility of shipper. Please put your name on all packing material so your art can be repacked as received.

Alaska Fiber Festival retains the right to disqualify pieces that do not meet exhibition standards.

Maud Morgan Arts and the Chandler Gallery are pleased to announce the 2012 Small Works Salon 2D Exhibition to take place in the spring of 2012 and juried by Victoria Munroe of Victoria Munroe Fine Arts.

This exhibition is open to all Boston area artists and proceeds will benefit an endowment for scholarships at Maud Morgan Arts.

All artwork for this show must measure exactly 12" x 12" outside dimensions. The work will be displayed in a dense grid to maximize the impact and number of works in the small space.

• Victoria Munroe, Director of Victoria Munroe Fine Art

Eligibility: (truncated)
• Open to artists in the greater Boston area.
• 2D entries accepted in painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, photography, and mixed media.
• The work must be 12” x 12” outside dimension, including frame. (No triptychs or diptychs.)
• Each artist may submit a maximum of 3 entries.
• Work must be from the last five years and must be for sale.

Prizes:
The juror will select five artists to submit images of current body of work. From these the following exhibitions will be awarded:
• 1st Prize: A one-person exhibition in the Chandler Gallery.
• 2nd Prizes: Two-person exhibition in the Chandler Gallery
• 3rd Prizes: Three prizes of a free class at Maud Morgan Arts

Entry Fee:
• $10 per entry
• Maximum of 3 entries

Commission:
• Maud Morgan Arts asks for 30% of all sales.
• All proceeds from entry fees and sales will benefit the programs of Maud Morgan Arts.

2013 Exhibition Season


Place des Arts offers gallery and gift shop display space where local emerging artists and art groups may exhibit and sell their works. Artists living in British Columbia who are not represented by a professional gallery are considered local, emerging artists.

Place des Arts welcomes submissions in 2D and 3D media and techniques including fibre arts, sculpture, painting, photography, prints and drawings; we are not able to accommodate multimedia work at this time.

Guidelines and Selection Criteria:
The Place des Arts Exhibition Committee will review proposals and recommend selected artists based on the following criteria:
• Artworks must be original and recent (created within the past two years).
• Artists must not have exhibited at Place des Arts within the previous three years.
• Artworks must not have previously been exhibited at Place des Arts.
• Quality of artworks (materials, technique, style).
• Originality and creativity (subject matter/media/technique).
• Successful candidates must be able to present work ready to hang (properly framed or stretched with finished sidesand properly wired for hanging).

Community Art Group Exhibitions
Two exhibitions per year are reserved for local community arts groups*. The same submission standards and selection criteria apply with consideration to the following:
-meets the definition of community art group
-cohesive and organized proposal
-art groups have the opportunity to apply to exhibit every two years.

*A community art group provides opportunities for communities and individuals to develop skills as artists, as well as opportunities for artists to explore ways of transferring those skills. Place des Arts will reserve, but not be limited to, programming two exhibitions per year.
