DRAWN The Second Annual International Exhibition of Contemporary Drawing
Deadline: February 27, 2015 {ONLINE}
D R A W N
The Second Annual International Exhibition of Contemporary Drawing
Manifest Creative Research Gallery and Drawing Center
Cincinnati, OH
April 17, 2015 to May 15, 2015
Manifest was founded in-part to stand for the importance of drawing as a process, skill, and discipline, and as a continuing viable product of the creative fine art and design fields.
In honor of the original spirit of the founding ideals of Manifest, the gallery launched DRAWN as a new annual exhibition project. DRAWN seeks to survey and present the broad scope of drawing being made today.
DRAWN calls for artists to submit works of drawing in any media relevant to the practice (including non-traditional approaches), any style, and any genre (fine art, illustration, design, conceptual, realism, etc.).
This exhibit has no predefined expectation for type or style of work to be considered or selected. Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual or experimental. The only criteria beyond excellent quality is that works must qualify as drawing, including that which tests the boundaries of the discipline.
ELIGIBILITY
DRAWN is open to everyone. Professionals as well as students are encouraged to enter. The only limitation is that entries must represent original works which qualify in some considerable way as drawing.
MEDIA
Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts media applicable to the practice and discipline of drawing.
Manifest's carefully assembled juries change from project to project, and as a body have no collective predisposition towards any particular kind or style of art.
ENTRY FEE
$36 for up to three entries submitted. $10 per each additional entry. Fees are non-refundable. Number of entries is unlimited.
JURY AND CURATOR
Manifest's selection process involves a complex two-part system. This exhibit will be juried by an anonymous 5-9 member panel of professional and academic advisers with a broad range of expertise relative to art and design. The jury will then pass along their recommendations to the exhibit curator who will make the final selections from the jury-approved pool.

Library Thoughts 4
Deadline: March 31, 2014 (RECEIVE)
Library Thoughts 4
Hegyvidek Gallery
Budapest, Hungary
August 26 - September 06, 2014
This exhibition is part of the AIR/HMC, Budapest, International Artists in Residency program.
Johann Gutenberg's invention of movable type books ignited the explosion of art. These days the printed books that were previously published by publishers now can be read on line as ebooks. What is the future? Instead of having to interact with computers through not-so-intuitive and sometimes even counter-intuitive devices like a computer mouse or trackpad, soon users will be able to control their computers doing natural human movements such as gestures, whole-body movement, eye movement, and perhaps even such things as facial expressions.
Is it the end for books as we know them?
Question the survival of paper, books, libraries in this digital age. The process of sending artworks through the mail, with the envelope, the stamp and the postmark as entire part of the mail-art-object make this process to what we call Mail Art. Since 1986 we call mail-artists also networkers because they are active in/with several "media": music, computer (internet, e-mail), fax, copy-art, performance, small-press, artists' books, etc.
Curator: Beata Szechy
Acceptable Artworks:
Artist books, works on or of paper may be any size, but MUST fit in a 9 X 12 (22.9X30.5cm) envelope.
Un-matted, unframed photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, cast or folded paper, multimedia or digital prints.
Submission Requirements:
1. Send the application form, artist resume/CV, artist statement, 1 - 3 still image work samples OR short video (YouTube) by email and application fee by PayPal ($35)
2. Original artworks & SASE arrival to HMC, Dallas by 04/15/14 or HMC, Budapest by 06/15/2014
3. Notification letter will be sent on 04/04/14

Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Competition and Exhibition
Kings Place Gallery
London, England
21 June – 22 September 2013

Entrants must submit a self-portrait, but this concept is open to an interpretation that goes beyond passport-photo conventionality. Shown alone or within a group, contextualised, abstracted, trailing narrative or defined by the surface of the image, like all self-portraits, these new additions to the genre will explore the idea of visual identity, revealing and designing it at the same time.
An exhibition of works selected from the competition entries will be held at Kings Place Gallery, Kings Place, London, from 21 June – 16 August 2013, when details of the winning entry will be announced. Selected works will tour to the University Gallery, Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne from 30 August – 11 October 2013.
Entry fee: £15
ELIGIBILITY
● Artists of amateur and professional status, living and working in the UK, are eligible to participate in the competition by submitting a digital image of their self-portrait.
● The work can be in any recognised medium including drawing, painting, watercolour, print and mixed media. Photographs, sculpture and film are not eligible.
● All works selected for exhibition must be framed and must not measure more than 100 x 100cm, including the size of the frame.
● All works must be for sale and include the Gallery’s 40% commission in the sale price.
● Artists who are VAT registered will have VAT added to their sale price.
● Entry Forms must be accompanied by a digital image of the work, which should be on CD, in JPEG format at 300dpi resolution.
● CDs should contain only the image file, which must be individually accessible. Hard copies are not acceptable. Each CD must be clearly marked with the artist’s name and address.
First Prize £10,000
SELECTION
● All entries will be considered by a Selection Panel (made up of artists, critics and curators) and applicants will be notified by post or email whether their work has been selected for exhibition or not. The decision of the Selection Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into on the matter. The prize will be available for award at the discretion of the Selection Panel.

Shared Visions 2013-2014
Southern California College of Optometry
Eye Care Center
Fullerton, CA
September, 2013 – mid-August, 2014
The Southern California College of Optometry annually presents the Shared Visions Art Exhibit at the Eye Care Center. This eight-year old, juried art exhibit features artwork from blind and visually impaired artists from around the world. Shared Visions celebrates the artistic achievements of these inspirational artists who continue to create in a visual realm, focusing on their abilities and talents. The Exhibit, one of only four such art exhibitions of its kind in the United States, is open to the public at SCCO's Eye Care Center at 2575 Yorba Linda Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92831 and is open during Eye Care Center operational hours for an 11-month period each year.
Selected artwork from the 2012–13 exhibit will be on display for purchase at the Shared Visions Gala Auction and V-Awards. Artwork purchased from the exhibit will not be available to take home until the conclusion of the 2012–13 art exhibit in August 2013.
Eligibility
• All artists must be legally blind: corrected visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye, or a visual field limited to 20 degrees or less. This includes those who function at the definition of blindness (FDB), listed above, due to brain injury or dysfunction.
• All entries must be the original works of art, created at any time, provided the artist was legally blind at the time of creation.
• Any artwork accepted for previous Shared Visions Exhibits is not eligible.
Media: Paintings, drawings, photographs, mosaics, sculpture, and mixed media pieces.
Art Sales: Artists may offer their work for sale.
Rules of Entry (truncated)
• The maximum number of submissions is six.
• In addition to the enclosed application, artists must send digital photographs (via email, CD or memory stick) that accurately represents the creative work.
• Due to Fire Department regulations, all 3-dimensional pieces must fit into the Eye Care Center’s small display case or be able to be hung on the wall. Large 3-dimensional pieces will not be able to be displayed in this exhibit and therefore will not be accepted into the exhibit. Maximum size for the display case pieces is 10.5” high x 14” wide x 14” deep; maximum size for artwork to be displayed on the wall is: 42” x 42”.
Award Program
In addition to the duties of the panel of judges, they will be deciding on awards in the following categories:

Manifest Artist Residency Award
Deadline: April 9, 2013 (ONLINE), (EMAIL) or (RECEIVE)
Manifest Artist Residency Award
Manifest Creative Research Gallery and Drawing Center
Cincinnati, OH
2013/2014 Residency
Artists are invited to submit complete applications to Manifest's Manifest Artist Residency program (MAR). Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis.
The program is open for application by any serious emerging or established artist, including recent graduates from college art programs. It will benefit Manifest's community by providing exposure to the often unseen working space and practices of artists, serving to eliminate some boundaries to contemporary art making which currently may divide the everyday public from the fine visual arts.
The ideal candidate for the award of the program may be working in any media or genre, but would also make reasonable use of the available life-drawing sessions even if this is ancillary activity to their primary work. Suitability for teaching will be considered, but will not be a primary factor in the selection process.
One artist will be selected as the recipient of the MAR award which consists of the following:
The resident artist will be selected by a committee comprised of internal staff, board members, and academic/professional advisors.
Media/Genre: Open to artists working in any traditional and non-traditional genre and media.
Submission Fee: Each application must be accompanied by a $30 non-refundable submission fee.
