The Center for Contemporary Art is a vital regional art center with a comprehensive studio art school, professional exhibition program and important community outreach component.

ELIGIBILITY:
The exhibition is open to all artists 18 and older.

ENTRY FEE:
Entry fee is $25 for current members of The Center for Contemporary Art and Art Educators or $35 for Non-members for up to three entries. Entry fees are non-refundable.

SPECIFICATIONS:
The exhibition will consist of two-and three-dimensional work in all media. Wall pieces must be wired for hanging, maximum 60” high by 60” wide. Free-standing pieces may not exceed 32” X 48” X 60” and/or weigh more than 75 lbs. Accepted artwork cannot besubstituted and must be available for the duration of the exhibit.

PRIZES:
• Special Exhibitions Committee Award: Solo Exhibition at The Center for Contemporary Art
• First Prize: $500
• Second Prize: $250
• Third Prize: $100

This annual competition and exhibition of contemporary crafts was started in 1987 and is now in it's 28th year. Recognized nationally, Materials: Hard & Soft attracts hundreds of entries from every state in the union. Nationally recognized jurors select the show from slides and then award $5000 in prize money. The juror has always selected the winning pieces on-site. A catalog is printed. Many of the artists seen in the Materials exhibitions have been featured in national publications such as American Craft.


ELIGIBLE MEDIA

Works produced in any of the craft media: clay, fiber, glass, metal, paper, wood, or any combination of craft media, are acceptable. Entries must be the complete work of the submitted artist. Kits or commercially designed works will not be accepted.

All work must have been completed within the past two years (2012-2014) and not previously exhibited at the Center for Visual Arts. Artists must reside in the United States or its possessions.

ENTRY FEE

There is a $40 non-refundable fee, for up to three (3) entries.

The Krasl Art Center provides southwest Michigan residents and visitors the opportunity to experience high quality art exhibitions, installations, and events as well as art classes, camps, guest artist workshops, and outreach opportunities. Located in a 17,500 square foot building, the center has public galleries, art making studios, a black and white wet darkroom, a gift shop and a permanent collection of 38 sculptures.

Artisan Market is THE place to buy original, handmade gifts. Creators from the United States and Canada are carefully selected and their works are presented salon-style in our galleries during this 6-day event. Through its annual open exhibition opportunities, Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham helps artists locally, nationally and internationally to showcase their work in group exhibitions across three gallery spaces: Orleans and Stables Galleries in Twickenham and the Riverside Gallery in Richmond.

Lace is an openwork fabric, patterned with open holes in the work, made by either by hand or machine. Once considered stuffy and Victorian, lace has been revived and reinvented by fashion designers, craftspeople and artists. This contemporary open exhibition showcases this versatile medium. We are seeking examples of lace, work incorporating lace or work inspired by lace.

Artists can submit up to 5 works. Artworks must be submitted as high resolution jpeg files on a CD (please do not include a case), with accompanying A4 sized photographic prints or good quality colour printouts.

Original artwork or emailed submissions will not be accepted.

918 Letterpress Ephemera Show

918 Letterpress Ephemera Show

Ephemera is defined as any transitory written or printed matter not meant to be retained or preserved. Examples of letterpress printed ephemera include: posters, greeting cards, pamphlets, postcards, tickets and zines.

The name of this show is based on the fact that letterpress wood and metal type is made .918 inches tall.

To submit your work for consideration in the 918 Letterpress Ephemera Show please use the submission form. There is no cost to submit.

We must receive all digitally submitted work by 9.5.2013 and notification of acceptance will go out on 9.18.2013.

International entries are welcome and encouraged.

If your work is accepted in the show, it will become part of the permanent collection at Samford University. The work will be used to help inspire students for years to come. We also have some great prizes you can win. Everyone in the show will receive a 918 Letterpress Show Poster.


Prizes

1st place – $100
3 honorable mentions – pack of 10 letterpress greeting cards ($50 value)

What to enter

You can enter any letterpress printed ephemera such as greeting cards, posters, pamphlets, postcards, tickets and zines. Hand set type, photopolymer, wood cuts, and lino cuts are all welcome entries. No framed or matted work will be accepted.


Jurors: Paul Moxon, Sarah Bryant and Scott Fisk

Work will be judged on: 1) uniqueness 2) quality of craftsmanship and printing. This is a juried show. Read about the jury.

You may submit up to four works for consideration.

Submit only quality .jpg images that can be used in our exhibition catalog. Images must be between 400k and 4meg in size. Please name your image with the title and your last name (example: title_lastname.jpg).
