Filoli presents its 16th Annual Botanical Art Exhibit this coming spring. Botanical art has experienced a renaissance of growth both in the states and internationally and Filoli has been a leader in the renewal of this art form, which combines the observational skills of the scientist and the sensibility of the artist. This beautiful exhibit has long been an essential part of the Filoli Botanical Art Program’s mission to interpret and preserve this historically–significant art form.
Botanical artists are invited to enter original artwork not previously exhibited in a Filoli botanical art exhibition in any two-dimensional medium that reflects the rich tradition of botanical art and adheres to high standards of botanical accuracy. Prints or engravings will not be accepted. All work will be juried using digital images.
JURY PROCEDURE
All art work will be juried using digital images. Criteria for acceptance will include botanical accuracy as well as artistic presentation and technical use of medium represented by a high quality digital image. Selection results will be e-mailed March 4.

In March the Selvedge Fair returns to Chelsea Old Town Hall for a celebration of Spring. Following the overwhelming success of our Christmas Fair the event has been extended to two days with an evening reception so visitors will have plenty of time to browse a truly tempting range of textiles in a friendly atmosphere.
With over 100 stands – a carefully curated mix of antique textiles, talented designer makers and beautiful haberdashery – there is no better opportunity to buy special, handcrafted textiles and enjoy meeting and talking to the talented people that create them.
Our central location offers the convenience of easy transport links and a host of textile related venues to visit, including the V&A museum, making this the ideal opportunity for a weekend in London. Whether you are searching for Easter gifts and decorations or hoping to find the perfect garment or accessory you will find the finest textiles and inspiration at the Selvedge Spring Fair.
The Selvedge Fair is a showcase for fine textiles. Companies or individuals who make textile products, sell haberdashery, antique or vintage textiles are invited to apply for a stand. Selection will take place by 15 February 2013 and applicants will be informed whether they have been allocated a stand by email.

Small Expressions is an annual, international, juried exhibit featuring high quality, contemporary small-scale works. Small Expressions is sponsored by the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc., to showcase small scale works created using fiber techniques in any media, not to exceed 15 inches (38 cm) in any direction including mounting, framing, or display devices.
Juror: Laura Foster Nicholson, textile artist known for handwoven brocaded tapestries. Laura owns LFN Textiles, designs jacquard ribbon and household textiles, and licenses designs to Crate & Barrel, Land of Nod, Renaissance Ribbons, Larsen, Inc., and others.
Jurying HGA seeks to feature work which is not only of the highest caliber in craftsmanship, and technical ability but which also speaks to intricacy of expression, intimacy of design, thoughtful communication, and visual excitement.
The juror will independently screen all images and make the preliminary selection of all work in the exhibition. Entries will be evaluated on concept, design, technique, craftsmanship and creative exploration.
Eligibility:
Entry Fees: $25 HGA member, $40 non-HGA member, Student (attach copy of student ID from accredited educational institution),no fee. Payment in US funds by check or money order or charge to credit card.
Awards: First, second, and third place awards and the HGA Award will be selected by the juror. Additional special criteria awards may be available.

Food is one of many satisfying things people produce. It communicates to four out of our five senses.
For this exhibition, we’re looking for art that evokes the many emotions and experiences related to or that are sparked by food. Textures, colors, shapes, and even scents can be represented in artwork and can create an intriguing palette.
All international artists, professional and amateur and all art mediums will be considered in this call for submissions, from photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable.
Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again for a collective live exhibition at our Pasadena Art Gallery. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the collective exhibition, which is not a requirement to being a part of the online exhibition.
Cost: $35 for 3 entries, $5 for additional entries.

Fantastic Fibers is an international competitive exhibition that seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding works related to the fiber medium. In four years Fantastic Fibers has grown to a truly international competition/exhibition. Last year's Fantastic Fibers 2011 had over 400 entries submitted by 187 fiber artists from France, Canada, Japan, Qatar, and from 23 US states with 58 works by 47 fiber artists chosen for the exhibit.
The competition/exhibition is open to all professional artists 18 years and/or over working in the field of fiber art. Contemporary and innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium are welcome. All work submitted must be original, completed in the last three years and not previously exhibited in a Fantastic Fibers exhibition. There are no size restrictions. A non-refundable entry fee $10 is required for each entry submitted for consideration with a maximum of five entries per artist. Entries must be submitted online by February 4, 2012.
Juror Luanne Rimel is an artist, curator, and currently the Director of Education Programs at Craft Alliance Art Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She holds an MFA in Fibers from Southern Illinois University and has taught numerous workshops and classes around the country. Rimel will award a minimum of $1,750 in cash prizes for this year's exhibition.
Exhibit will be open to the public March 31- May 5, 2012, at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, KY. Paducah is the home of the National Quilt Museum. The American Quilter's Society Annual Show and Contest will be held in Paducah from April 25 to 28, 2012.

Nest is an all-media juried exhibition that is open to all artists. This exhibi examines the nest as a symbol for home and refuge. Artists are asked to respond to the theme of nests and how they view this symbol, literally or conceptually.
Limitations
Work should be less than 15 feet overall (height + width + length), with no one dimension measuring more than 7 feet. Final measurements must be inclusive of frame, if applicable. Weight may not exceed 150 pounds. All entries must have been conceived and created by the artist submitting the work. All work selected must be ready for exhibit: 2D work must be framed with secure hanging devices; 3D work must be suitably prepared with instructions for installation. The gallery reserves the right to reject work that differs from submitted images.
$35.00 Entry Fee--This $35 covers 3 pieces of artwork for entry. Each additional pieces is $10.

The Target Gallery, national exhibition space of the Torpedo Factory Art Center, promotes high standards of art by continuously exploring new ideas through the visual media in a schedule of national and international exhibitions. The gallery hosts nine exhibits annually--some juried, some curated--featuring a variety of themes and artists.
