I Wear My Heart On My Tee

Deadline: 12 January 2011 (RECEIVE) Or (EMAIL)

I Wear My Heart On My Tee

Town Hall Gallery
Hawthorn VIC
Australia
2 March to 26 March, 2011

Philosophy of the exhibition:

The humble t-shirt has come a long way from being just a simple undergarment. It now tells people how we feel, what we think and where we stand on issues. Often the t-shirt says more about us than what we speak verbally. Anything is possible on the t-shirt and owning them can be very addictive. For many of us, looking through our collection of t-shirts, we can see ones
that we wear at special times. There are also the t-shirts that are so old and full of holes that we should throw out but because of the memories they hold, we simply can’t. I wear my heart on my tee is a celebration of the t-shirt as an artists canvas and will showcase fun, kooky and inspiring design from Melbourne based artists/designers and fashion labels.

It is envisaged that the gallery will be plastered with hundreds of t-shirts, some shown on the walls, others folded and some on mannequins. The opening night will also see a small parade of t-shirts along with some performances, making it a night to remember.

Things you need to know: (truncated)
 All works to be for sale.
 Town Hall Gallery takes 20% commission on sales.
 Artists included the exhibition can provide up to 30 t-shirts each. These may be of various designs or of a few designs with a size range included (XS,S,M,L,XL)
 We are looking for submissions of t-shirts that would fit male, female and children.
 People will be able to purchase their t-shirts and take them home straight away, so artists will have the opportunity to replenish stock.
 Town Hall Gallery will be responsible for installing the exhibition, you just need to provide the work!
 Anything goes on a t-shirt! There is no theme, just great looking t-shirts!
