DesignPhiladelphia 2013

Deadline: July 19, 2013 (ONLINE)

Call for Festival Participants
DesignPhiladelphia

Philadelphia, PA
October 10 to 18, 2013

The DesignPhiladelphia Festival started with a vision to consolidate the city’s design culture and bring together innovative educators, established manufacturers, creative entrepreneurs, emerging practices, commercial businesses and retailers in an effort to brand Philadelphia as a 21st-century city shaped by design, technology, and business. Our purpose is to break down the silos among design disciplines and provide space for cross-pollination.

Type of Event
Dream it and do it...lectures, workshops, exhibitions, design competitions, open houses, fashion shows, product demonstrations, tours, interactive initiatives, pop-up shops and public design events...or a combination of any of the above!

The Festival is open to all who are willing to plan and host a design-related event. We encourage all forms of creative expression across all design disciplines. We only ask that you follow the participant requirements and guidelines.

You are not required to live in Philadelphia to participate. However, you still need to find and negotiate your own venue and abide by all Festival participation guidelines and deadlines.

Guidelines (truncated)

1. Represent DesignPhiladelphia’s mission.
DesignPhiladelphia demonstrates, supports, and promotes the ability that design has to generate innovation, solve problems, enhance daily life, and influence both the perception and economics of the region.

2. Create a unique event pertaining to this year’s theme.
Your event should represent this year’s theme, EXPERIENCEdesign! in some way, shape, or form. The senses are a pathway for emotional connections between people and design. Good design can be said to ignite the senses. Events should center on the ways in which people experience design through sight, smell, touch, taste, and sound or on experience-centered design practices. Be creative!

PREPARING TO REGISTER
• Review Participant Levels & Fees and choose the most appropriate for you.
• Confirm your event’s date, time, and venue.
• Write a short & sweet, but enticing, description of your event - 75 words maximum.
• Find a representative photograph. (square images work best in .jpg, .png, or .gif under 8mb)
