Collage!_Bedford Gallery

DEADLINE: April 18, 2024 (ONLINE)

Collage!
Bedford Gallery

Lesher Center for the Arts
Walnut Creek, CA
July 6, 2024 – September 15, 2024

Derived from the French verb coller, meaning to glue/stick, collage refers to both the method and art form in which paper and other media are arranged and affixed to a substrate. Though the first evidence of collage coincided with the invention of paper in China around 200 BC, it was not until the early 20th century that artists first used it as a technique.

Collage has since evolved into a popular and powerful medium that transcends traditional artistic boundaries. Versatile and accessible, collage allows for a creative amalgamation of 2- and 3-D materials, creating a fascinating visual interplay of textures, colors, and forms that explore the juxtaposition of seemingly disparate elements. From analog cut-and-paste to digital layering, this exhibition celebrates the deft use of materials and creative spirit of collage.

Awards & Prizes
There will be over $2,000 in cash and prizes for artist awards.

Eligibility
Open to all artists, 18 years of age or older.

We fund raise in support of African grandmothers caring for a generation of children who have been orphaned by the AIDS pandemic. These children are the future hope of Africa. To date, the Grandmothers Campaign has raised +$16.5 million.

Exhibition History: ‘Celebrating’ is the third in a series of art exhibitions to be hosted by grandmother groups in western Canada. • Closed bids accepted throughout the tour will form the starting price for the gala auction
  • Exposure in over 20 markets across Western Canada from May 2013 – Feb. 28 2014
  • Hosting groups will actively advertise the exhibit to audiences in their areas ensuring widespread exposure
  • Attendance of over 500 people expected at each hosted event

  • Artists will be associated with a compelling story creating positive social change

Because we are limited to exhibiting approximately 50 works, other donated work that is not accepted by the jury will be gratefully received and sold during the exhibition tour.

We anticipate a vibrant and inspired exhibition that celebrates the extraordinary resolve of African grandmothers and the talent and generosity within the arts community.

Call for Collage-Based Work

Deadline: December 31, 2011 (ONLINE)

Call for Collage-Based Work
Thompson Gallery
The Cambridge School of Weston

Weston, MA
Three exhibitions: 2012/2013

2012 marks the centennial of the appearance of collage in painting. In that time, collage has become ubiquitous within contemporary art and culture, and its myriad applications have arguably expanded its original definition to become the most inclusive of artistic processes. Collage at 100 is a three-part exhibition series that opens in September of 2012 and runs through June of 2013. All media considered. The series aims to explore collage within contemporary art practices as much as it endeavors to examine the conceptual and political manifestations of this evolving artistic strategy.

Eligibility
All works must be original and collage-based—anything that involves either an analog or virtual combination of images and/or objects. Glue and fasteners of any type are anticipated, however, these per se are not a prerequisite. All media will be considered. The gallery reserves the right to reject work that differs from submitted images. Preference will be given to any work created in the last three years.

Each entrant may submit up to ten individual works total, and may, if need be, submit up to five detail images per entry for communicating alternate views — in cases of sculpture or installation entries, etc.

How to Apply (truncated)
1. Only online applications will be accepted.
2. The Thompson Gallery uses Entrythingy,® a digital call for entries system.
3. There is no application fee.

Collage Mania 2009

Deadline: April 1, 2009 (RECEIVE)

Collage Mania 2009

Fiberart for a Cause
Collage Mania 2009 Goal: $20,000

All proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause

Guidelines: (truncated)

All materials are acceptable, but collages must contain some fiber (paper, fabric, or other fibrous material). There are no restrictions on content or style. Do keep in mind the inherent quality of a collage as an assembled artwork. Art quilts are, of course, acceptable.

Collages may be any size and finished in any manner, but they must be finished or mounted to 10x8" (25.4 cm x 20.3 cm). The orientation may be either horizontal or vertical.

Size the collage itself to match your pricing scheme as all collages will be offered for a minimum $40 donation through Fiberart For A Cause to the American Cancer Society on May 6 and May 7.
May 5 will be Gold Donor Day; Gold Donor Patrons may choose collages for a minimum donation of $80.

While there is a minimum donation, patrons are encouraged to donate a bit more if they can for a favorite collage. Our goal this year is $20,000.

Limit ten collages per artist.

Collages will be sent by you directly to their purchaser.

Send low resolution jpegs of your artwork by April 1, 2009 to Karen Stiehl Osborn at Karen(at)KarenStiehlOsborn.com.

LAYERS: Collage and Assemblage

Crossing Gallery
Zumbrota, MN
July 2008

Crossings is asking you to rip it up, cut it out, and get it down.

Artists of all ages and levels of experience are invited to submit 2- or 3-dimensional artwork for our July 2008 exhibition. Artwork can be of any medium, but must be in the form of collage or assemblage.

“Layers” is one of two remaining open group exhibitions in 2008. This show is not juried; you don’t have to worry about rejection. It’s a fun experience to be part of an exhibit and it encourages you to create something.

Art pieces must be for sale and must be display-ready with appropriate display materials or hanging devices.

Artists must submit an entry form that includes name, address, phone, email, and a $15 entry fee (per person, not per piece).

Download entry form here! This show is on a first come, first served basis, so get your entries in early.

Crossings reserves the right to reject or refuse any submissions for this exhibition.
