Through coming together as creatives, we hope to raise the profile of this groundbreaking charity, and raise funds for their vital work in the rehabilitation and care of young children with brain tumours.
Participants will be featured on our website (and may include web links and a small profile to be displayed), and will also be included in our month-long exhibition at Eden Court, Scotland’s largest multi-arts venue, in April 2013.

Fiberart for a Cause
Collage Mania 2009 Goal: $20,000
All proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause
Guidelines: (truncated)
All materials are acceptable, but collages must contain some fiber (paper, fabric, or other fibrous material). There are no restrictions on content or style. Do keep in mind the inherent quality of a collage as an assembled artwork. Art quilts are, of course, acceptable.
Collages may be any size and finished in any manner, but they must be finished or mounted to 10x8" (25.4 cm x 20.3 cm). The orientation may be either horizontal or vertical.
Size the collage itself to match your pricing scheme as all collages will be offered for a minimum $40 donation through Fiberart For A Cause to the American Cancer Society on May 6 and May 7.
May 5 will be Gold Donor Day; Gold Donor Patrons may choose collages for a minimum donation of $80.
While there is a minimum donation, patrons are encouraged to donate a bit more if they can for a favorite collage. Our goal this year is $20,000.
Limit ten collages per artist.
Collages will be sent by you directly to their purchaser.

Art Now for Autism
Art Now for Autism
Online Exhibit and Sale
October 2008
Autism is a growing epidemic. 1 in 150 children in the United States is estimated to have an autism spectrum disorder. The second annual Art Now for Autism will be held in October 2008. Artists are being asked to donate a small work of art which will be sold online in October 2008 to coincide with the Washington, DC Walk Now for Autism. All money raised will go to Autism Speaks.
The Details
This year we have two different calls for art. Both will be a part of the October 2008 show. We have the open call for any fine arts and crafts and a new puzzle pin call. Please consider both calls!
Open Call for Art
All art is welcome. Painting, drawing, photography, collage, mixed media, book arts, jewelry, fiber, crafts, etc. Artwork does not need to be related to autism. Everything -- except that which may be considered pornographic or offensive -- is welcome. Since works will be mailed, please help us keep costs down by submitting a small piece. Try not to go beyond 18 inches in any direction. Frames and mattes are not necessary. Remember to include a price for your piece.
Puzzle Pin Project
The puzzle piece is a symbol used by the autism community. You might have seen the puzzle ribbon or the blue puzzle piece lapel pin worn by celebrities. We would like to take this idea and add an artsy flair. You can alter a puzzle piece or make one from scratch. Paint, draw, collage, whatever you do best then turn it into a pin. It can have an autism theme or anything you like. We hope to post some samples soon! The pins will be sold for a donation of $25 each.
The Sale
Art work will be available online during the month of October. Any unsold work will be returned to the artist in November. All money will be donated to Autism Speaks through its Walk Now for Autism.
We also hope to have a display table at the Washington, DC Walk Now for Autism on November 8th.
Deadline
All art work must be received by September 10, 2008. This will give us time to create the online exhibit, publicity postcards and other materials, and new items in the Cafe Press shop. The show and sale will in October at www.artnowforautism.com.
Fees
There is no fee to be in this show. Money from the sale of art will go directly to Autism Speaks. If you like, you can also include a monetary donation to Autism Speaks with your submission.

Breaking Traditions
American Sewing Expo
Rock Financial Showplace
Novi, Michigan
September 26 - September 28, 2008
THEME
The theme for the 2008 Breaking Traditions is "With One Voice." Quilts submitted for the exhibit should focus on the positive influence of individuals/organizations/projects that are doing good in the world.
This year's exhibit seeks to give a voice to all those who work tirelessly to enrich our lives.
There is no sign up requirement for this exhibit. All you need to do is send your quilt in by the due date.
Please join the yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BreakingTraditonsArtQuiltExhibit/ for
the exhibit as all notices/announcements and entry form for the exhibit will be posted there.
EXHIBIT DATES
This exhibit hangs at the American Sewing Expo (http://www.americansewingexpo.com/) in Novi, Michigan at the Rock Financial Showplace. The exhibit dates for 2008 are September 26 -
September 28.
ENTRY DONATION
This year Breaking Traditions is teaming up with Virginia Spiegel's Fiberart for a Cause
(http://www.virginiaspiegel.com/NewFiles/ACSFundraiser.html). An entry fee in the form of a $10 donation to the American Cancer Society is requested.
Please send your donation in the form of a check made out to the American Cancer Society along with your quilt. Your check will then be forwarded on to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart for a Cause.
SIZE
Quilts are to be a 12"x12" square. In keeping with the exhibit's theme, With One Voice, the squares will be hung as one large quilt. This means that they will be hung with the edges against each other and no gaps. They will not be permanently attached to each other, just hung to create the illusion of one large quilt.
A notebook will accompany the exhibit so that viewers may identify the artist and inspiration behind each work.
PLEASE do not deviate from a 12x12 square.
NUMBER OF ENTRIES
If you are very motivated and would like to send in more then one quilt, you are more then welcome to do so. However, please be aware that since this is an open call exhibit and no sign up is required, there may not be enough room to display multiple pieces from one artist. If this is the case, one of your blocks will be shown in the exhibit (you will be given the opportunity to specifiy your preference as to which one you would like displayed on the entry form). All the pieces you send in will be shown in the online gallery for the exhibit. Please be sure to include appropriate return postage. (Multiple entries only qualifies you for one Paticipant Drawing Prize
and one Thank You gift.)
Quilts submitted for this exhibit cannot employ the use of patterns. Innovation is encouraged. All techniques and materials are acceptable as long as it meets the following definition of a quilt: two or more layers held together by stitching.
INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS
This is an open call exhibit and is also open to participants outside of the United States. If providing return postage for your work in U.S. dollars is a problem, please email Lynn at
FibraArtysta@earthlink.net.
QUILTS DUE
Quilts are due to Lynn by Saturday August 30, 2008. THIS IS A RECEIVE BY DATE! (Time is needed to photograph the squares and compile the exhibit notebook.)
Local participants may email Lynn at FibraArtysta@earthlink.net to set up a drop off time.
View complete guidelines: http://www.fibraartysta.com/2008BTguidelines.htm
All of these guidelines are duplicated on the entry form.
