Under the Rims--MAWS Conference
Montana Association of Weavers and Spinners
Billings, Montana
June 4-6, 2010
Join us “Under the Rims” in Billings June 4-6, 2010. We have exciting teachers booked. Weaver Robyn Spady will teach 2 Sides to Every Cloth and other topics in both preconference and post conference workshops. Jane Fournier, author of Sheep to Clothing and former editor for Piecework, will teach spinning along with Kathryn Alexander who is well known for her wearable art. Other classes are planned including basketry, bobbin lace, Brazilian embroidery, and dyeing.
We still need more regional teachers to apply to fill out our plans for 10 classes running simultaneously during the conference and the 2 days of post conference workshops.
Building on MAWS 2008 success, we plan Introduction to Spinning and Introduction to Weaving classes as well as Children’s activities that will be open to the community for registration, Thursday June 3. Our vendors will open up Thursday night with a Spin-In and special shopping night. After classes on Friday, we head to the Yellowstone Art Museum, which is featuring a special fiber arts show. Saturday night are the shows and Living Treasure awards. On Sunday we finish up with the “Rimsical Whimsical” fashion show and then on to post conference workshops.
If you are interested in teaching at MAWS 2010 please contact Linda Shelhamer.
For vendor booths contact Susan Leaverton.
