Exhibition Proposals & Residencies

In 1993, the Islip Art Museum opened the Carriage House as a project space where contemporary artists can create and exhibit new and experimental work. Since its first season, the Carriage House has steadily expanded its programming and services to become a major cultural resource in the greater New York region.

Each year, the Islip Art Museum invites artists to submit proposals for installations in the Carriage House. The yearly deadline for submissions is April 15. Proposals are reviewed by a panel of artists and gallery and museum professionals, and selected works are exhibited in August through October.

All Carriage House programs include artists' stipends, staff support and technical assistance.

The staff of the Carriage House welcomes inquiries from artists concerning workspace and exhibition programs. Curators review slides and CD's on a monthly basis. Please do not send images by e-mail as they will not be opened or acknowledged.
