Following the success of the juried exhibition ARTAPESTRY, European Tapestry Forum ETF has begun planning the second installment of this tapestry triennial. ARTAPESTRY 2 is to open in November 2008. The exhibition will also be shown in at least three European museums.
ARTAPESTRY 2 is open to tapestry artists from Europe, or who live and work in Europe. Entries must be postmarked from within Europe.
ETF is looking for works which are constructed in the traditional woven tapestry technique but are contemporary in content and feel. The tapestries submitted must be current work woven no earlier than 2005.
Works must be at least 1 square meter of woven area, and must be hand-woven tapestry; that is discontinuous wefts.
Three-dimensional works may also be accepted.
Work will be selected by an independent jury of five experts in their field, including artists and curators. Member of the jury are:
Dr. Edit Andras, Art historian, Hungary
Prof. Wlodzimierz Cygan, Tapestry artist, Poland
Annika Ekdahl, Tapestry artist, Sweden
Fiona Mathison, Tapestry artist, Scotland
Bernard Schotter, Administrateur général du du Mobilier National et des Manufactures Nationales des Gobelins de Beauvais et des Savonnerie, France.
The jury may disqualify any work that it is significantly different from the slides submitted.
Artists are asked to submit slides of a completed work; no drawings or cartoons will be accepted.
Artists are asked to submit work on colour slides 35 mm (diapositive); At least one full view of the completed work and one detail per tapestry. (We strongly recommend that the artists have professional photographers take the photos. Tapestries should be placed on a light-coloured, plain background for the photo.)
• SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR ENTRY FORMS AND SLIDES: December 31, 2007
• JURYING WILL BE IN February 2008
• ARTISTS WILL RECEIVE WORD BY March 1, 2008
ETF will charge a non-refundable entry fee of 30 Euros for members and 50 Euros for non members. The fee must be paid by bank transfer at your cost to the ETF Euro account.
SALE OF WORKS
The European Tapestry Forum will charge 10 % commission on works sold from the exhibition. Price - In Euros.
