Art In City Hall issues a call to Philadelphia area artists for the summer xhibition in the historic public corridors of City Hall.

Curator: Cavin Jones, Exhibitions Committee Chair

Theme: Artists are invited to submit artwork that may be deemed “suitable” for public consumption...that you think the non-art-savy public would like. Open to all media and “popular” subject matter; for example, cultural icons, traditionally likeable or tolerable themes...pets, nature, decorative art, pop art...Let's have some fun with this.

Media
Open to all artists in all media. Artwork must comply with the dimensions of the display cases, which are 84” H x 94” W x 24”D.

Rules for Entry

1. Entry form must accompany your digitals, slide or
reproductions from originals. No entry fee. Submit entries
to address on entry form.

2. Submit up to four images. Include a current resume.
Accepted artists will be asked to submit an artist’s
statement (in digital format if available via email).

3. Digital images should be jpeg format for PC. Images can
be emailed to Artincityhall@phila.gov or mailed as a CD
along with rest of submission. Slides must be clearly
labeled with the artist’s name, title, date, medium, size and
arrow to indicate the top of the image, and numbered 1
through 4 to correspond to the entry form. No glass
mounts. Slides which are not submitted in this format will
be returned. Reproductions must be labeled with same
information, as slides above, on the back.

4. Return the completed entry form, slides or reproductions,
resume, artist’s statement and a self-addressed stamped
envelope (SASE) to the address below. Submissions will
not be returned without a SASE.

Eligibility & Selection of Artists
Open to emerging and professional artists living or working in the Philadelphia area. Artists will be selected through slides, digitals or reproductions that address the exhibition’s theme.

Invitations and Printed Matter
Each selected artist will receive approximately 30 invitations for their own usage. The exhibition will also have a printed catalogue of introductions and artist statements.

Sale of Work
Art may be for sale, Art in City Hall does not take a commission.

Liability
Artwork will be insured once installed in the display cases in City Hall.
