A group show of small quilts with new sculpture by Jane Kaufmann
February 7 – March 20, 2008


This winter, Greenjeans is presenting a juried exhibition of small original quilts handmade by quiltmakers working in all styles and techniques. From the traditional to the experimental, we want to offer a taste of what quiltmaking is today.

Titled “Under-cover,” the exhibition will also feature new sculpture by Jane Kaufmann around the theme of beds. The exhibition will be on view February 7 – March 20, 2008, with an opening reception on February 6.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We are defining “quilt” to be a work composed of at least two distinct layers held together by a network of stitches. Quilts in all media will be considered.

Quality of work and uniqueness of vision are important regardless of technique, style, or material.

Quilts must measure no more than 14” x 14.” (That’s inches, not feet!) A few exceptional crib quilts (which may be over 14”) will also be selected.

Quilts may take many forms (wall hanging, framed or unframed, book, 3-D, etc.).

All works must be suitably prepared for exhibition.

The quilts will be offered for sale through Greenjeans (unless the maker prefers not to sell the work). Quilts juried into the exhibition will be protected by our consignment agreement while at Greenjeans. (Contact us for a copy.)

To submit your work for consideration, please send us 1-3 images of each quilt along with a brief statement about your experience as a quilter (why you quilt, how you learned, how long, etc.). NO MORE THAN 3 SUBMISSIONS PER PERSON, PLEASE. Email is preferred, but regular mail is also accepted. DO NOT SEND ACTUAL WORK AT THIS TIME.

Submissions must be received no later than January 15, 2008. Send to amy@greenjeansbrooklyn.com, with “Quilt Submission” in the subject line.

First-round decisions will be announced on January 21. Quilts selected during this first round must be sent to Greenejans for final jurying no later than January 29. Final selections will be announced on February 1. Quilts that do not make final selection will be sent back at Greenjeans’ expense.
