The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) is an energetic art space located in downtown San Jose dedicated to making contemporary art accessible and exciting to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The ICA has long been committed to presenting exhibitions that include visually compelling and conceptually challenging contemporary art, as well as a variety of educational programs intended to help our audiences reflect upon these works.

The mission of San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art is to exhibit forward-looking, thought-provoking, and exciting contemporary art by emerging and established artists from the Bay Area and beyond.

At this time the San Jose ICA will consider your submission for solo and thematic group shows and the Annual Fall Auction.

Solo and Group Shows: The ICA is committed to providing opportunities for artists to exhibit in thematic group shows and solo exhibitions.

The Annual Fall Auction is a juried fundraiser and an opportunity to participate in an ICA exhibition while exposing your art to South Bay collectors. If selected, artists have the option to receive 20% of the auction sale price. The ICA starts selecting work in July, the auction exhibition is in October.

Artwork submissions are reviewed first by the Chief Curator and Curator as well as by a Curatorial Committee made up of ICA Board members, arts professionals from the region and the ICA Executive Director. Reviewing proposals is a highly competitive process as the ICA receives many applications each year. Artists are selected on overall quality and innovation. Submissions are reviewed every three to six months. However, it may take up to six months before your application is reviewed.
