Museum of Northwest Art (MoNA)
La Conner, WA
The Museum of Northwest Art (MoNA) accepts curatorial proposals or proposals from artists to have work included in an exhibition. The exhibition goal is to facilitate the dialogue of Northwest art and artists with diverse perspectives that will engage, educate and enhance the visitor’s experience. The museum offers 4,800 sq. ft. of exhibition space on the first floor and 1,800 sq. ft. on the second floor.
MoNA presents work from artists active in the Northwest, an area including Alaska, Southern British Columbia, Washington, Idaho, Western Montana, Oregon, and Northern California. There are no restrictions of media or style.
It is essential that you become acquainted with our mission and the exhibitions that we mount at the Museum of Northwest Art. Please take a thorough look at our website and visit the Museum in person. It is important that you evaluate your own work within the context of the Museum, its exhibition history, and programming, ahead of making a submission.
Guest Curator Responsibilities
•Writing an initial statement and using it to invite artists to participate in the exhibition.
•Abide by the exhibition timeline and curatorial contract.
•Consistent communication throughout the planning process is imperative to the success of an exhibition.
•Guest curator works in tandem with the exhibition staff in all aspects of the exhibition.
•Guest curator oversees his/her vision from inception to completion, including education programs.
•Any modifications from the guest curator’s original proposal must be approved by the Exhibitions Director.
Preparation of art objects for exhibitions
•Art objects must be “ready to show” condition. MoNA does not provide mats, frames, etc.
•Exhibition art object list will be provided for loan agreements (artist’s/lender’s contact information, art description, value), pick-up and return receipts.
•Images (1 – 3 mb jpeg) made available for promotional and educational use.
