Talking Heads: A Contemporary Take on Headdresses

This juried exhibition will showcase works inspired by historical and/or cultural headdresses. Headdresses, whether practical or ceremonial, have traditionally made a statement about the wearer and their cultural community. Our contemporary take on these historical artifacts will similarly make a statement about ourselves and our own cultural environments, while exploring an exciting diversity of techniques and media, as well as innovative approaches to the theme.

Works must be inspired by a traditional headdress, but they need not be wearable. They must, however, go beyond the usual idea of a hat.

Works may be in any media, but must include fibre or fibre techniques. There are no size restrictions. Works may be two dimensional or three dimensional.

This juried exhibition is open to all members of the Surface Design Association.

Adjudication Fees: $10CDN for NVCAC members, $15CDN for non-members, for up to 3 entries.
