Exhibit Concept

There are a rare few of us who have not been affected in some way by the changes that occur with aging, be it ourselves, or the aging of our parents, loved ones or even our children. Here you have the opportunity to explore any of these passages that have touched your own life. Subjects can include aging, illness, death, the growth of our children, or the passage of time in general. This exhibit will showcase 30-35 art quilts. Art quilts may be up to 36" wide and 48" high. Due to limited space and shipping costs, there will be no three dimensional works. Artwork will debut at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham UK. Artwork may be edited to fit additional venues yet to be selected, depending on available display space.


Eligibility Requirement

Open to all SAQA members. If you are not a member, you can join and pay after you complete your online entry to Metaphors on Aging.


Guidelines

Quilts must measure no less than 10" high x 10" wide and no more than 48" high x 36" wide.
Quilts cannot have been shown in any previous SAQA exhibition.
Artist must be a SAQA member to enter.
Consideration is by digital images only.
Artwork must meet the SAQA definition of an art quilt.
Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance to SAQA's shipping facility in Ohio. SAQA will arrange to insure the artwork during the exhibition and while it travels until it is returned to the artist.
Artwork MAY be for sale. SAQA will charge a 25% commission on all sales; exhibiting venues may also charge a commission, but total commission will never exceed 50%.
Work MUST be available to travel until November 15, 2014.

Curator: Mary McBride, curator Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach.


Juror: Pamela Allen, Award Winning International Art Quilter.


Fee: $40 entry of portfolio for consideration.


Notification of acceptance: February 9-10, 2013
