We are very excited to announce the Art of the Quilt challenge for 2010, "Classic American Automobiles". Everyone in America has a favorite automobile from the past or a dream car they wish they owned. This opportunity can allow you to expound on that memory or dream and will present an artistic experience to express a pride in American ingenuity. Your creative wheels are probably already turning, so what are you waiting for? It is going to be fun to make and fun to see how all the contestant interpret this challenge.

“Art of the Quilt” Contest Rules (truncated)

1. Quilts are to strictly follow the theme, "Classic American Automobiles". Everyone in America has a favorite automobile from the past or a dream car they wish they owned. This challenge will allow you to expound on that memory or dream and present an artistic experience to express pride in American ingenuity.
2. Quilts are to be “other than traditional” in nature. Judges will be looking for innovative, artistic quilts. They can include piecing, appliqué, & surface embellishment techniques (dyeing, trapunto, stenciling, whole cloth, embroidery, batik, painting, embossing, etc.)
3. The quilt must consist of 3 layers held together with stitching.
4. Open to all, but must be the work of a single individual. No group or 2 person quilts. Quilt(s) must be constructed and quilted by person named on entry blank.
5. Limit 2 entries per person. Entry fee is $20 per quilt and includes return shipping. Void where prohibited by law.
6. Entry must be quilted either by hand or machine. No kits, “cheater cloth”, or tied quilts will be accepted. Quilt size must be between 20 inches by 20 inches to 30 inches by 30 inches to be considered. (400 square inches minimum to 900 square inches max.)
7. Quilt(s) must be a single unit and not framed with wood, metal, etc.
