The FIBERWORKS 2009 exhibit sponsors invite you to participate in their annual juried fiber exhibition. This 31st annual exhibit provides Oklahoma fiber artisans an opportunity to showcase their work demonstrating traditional crafts to innovative art. This eclectic show honors quality workmanship and original designs. The exhibit also educates the public about the many facets of fiber artistry by presenting a wide range of media, techniques, and traditions.
JUROR
Jiseon Lee Isbara is the chairman of the fibers department at Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland.
MEDIA
Works in weaving, needlework, basketry, quilting, soft sculpture, paper, knitting, crocheting, felt, and all other works primarily constructed of fiber will be considered for acceptance. IAO Gallery provides space for large pieces to be displayed.
ELIGIBILITY
The exhibition is open to current residents of Oklahoma. Submissions must be handworks of original design or original interpretation of traditional techniques. Submissions must be executed by the entrant within the last two years. Works from previous FIBERWORKS exhibitions are not eligible.
ENTRY FEE
There is a non-refundable $15 entry and handling fee for members, $25 for non-members. Artists can submit up to three (3) different works.
SALES
Entrants are strongly encouraged to make their work available for sale. A 40% commission will be retained
from all sales. One fourth of the sales commission is set aside by Fiber Artists of Oklahoma, for future award
monies.
AWARDS
Over $4,000 in awards will be presented in a variety of categories, including $1,000 for Best of Show, $500 for the Joe Handley Award of Excellence in Weaving, and $500 for the Juror’s Choice Award.
