Think Outside the Block

Deadline: June 9th and August 4, 2008 (RECEIVE)*

Think Outside the Block
Robert Kaufman's Quilt Quest 2008

Robert Kaufman’s Quilt Quest is an annual contest in which, through the use of a specified line of Kaufman fabric, we ask entrants to create their own designs based on a set of creative guidelines and parameters. The contest this year is curated by quilting artist and author Margrit Hall. A panel of prestigious judges from the professional quilting community will take part in determining the winners. Top tier winners will receive cash, Robert Kaufman fabric and other prizes, and their quilts will travel in a nationwide exhibit. In addition, thirty honorable mention quilts will also travel as a separate exhibition.

For Quilt Quest 2008, Think Outside the Block, and let your imagination go. Take your favorite traditional quilt block or blocks and give them an exciting new look using color, texture, and fabric to create an original and innovative quilt design.

We encourage all of you to take part: novice or advanced, machine quilter or hand-quilter. The goal is to have fun and share in an inspiring creative event!

The official fabric collection of Quilt Quest ’08, Color Theory by Sandra Banava will inspire you with its playful and bold color combinations in geometric patterns offered in a variety of
scale. Quilts may be pieced, appliqué, or a combination of both.
