Pod: The 2006 Melbourne Scarf Festival
Thursday 15 - Saturday 17 June
Craft Victoria's annual Melbourne Scarf Festival is just around the corner, and it's time to start preparing your entries for the Scarf Lane Market. The Market is a forest-like display of hand-crafted scarves submitted by professional and amateur makers that fills Craft Victoria's Flinders Lane gallery for three days.
After exploring the religious, cultural and tribal meaning of scarves, the fourth annual festival moves to technology: Pod. Pod focuses on ways that scarves can house accessories such as iPods, mobile phones or precious objects. Pod is also a group or a collective and scarves that can be worn by more than one person, or that are made by more than one person are encouraged. The opening night launch will be a major event at the BMW Edge, Federation Square with fashion parade and awards ceremony. Due to popular demand the Scarf Festival will continue to feature events, workshops and forums.
To keep up with the high demand for participation and increased interest in The 2006 Melbourne Scarf Festival we have introduced a small fee for scarf entries. Once again there will be a limit of 3 entries per person and the following fee structure will apply:
Craft Victoria Members and children under 16 - free
Non-Members - $15 per entry
Group entries - $15 per entry
(NB: if a Craft Victoria Member is participating in a group the entry fee is waived)
Retail Kits will be sent out from Friday 7 April.
