An Exhibition Opportunity
For Texas Artists
What is a "Marfa Moment"?
An open competition for any artist, groups of artists, arts organizations or curators to
propose an exhibition in Marfa , Texas during the "Chinati Open House" Weekend,
the second week of October 2006. All artwork must be done by Texas artists.
Where?
At the Marfa Studio of Arts "Waterstop Gallery" located in the heart of Marfa at 106 East
San Antonio St . Our gallery is a modest (800 square foot) exhibition space with 10 foot
white walls, gallery lighting and on the street visibility.
What will we offer?
Support to install your exhibition during this weekend when thousands of art interested
visitors flock to Marfa to tour the Donald Judd collection and to visit the established
exhibition spaces as well as the impromptu events.
� Press coverage to area papers and radio, including printed materials to announce exhibition.
� A manned gallery open to the public during the event and for the duration of the exhibition.
� Support to help defray costs of shipping or other art transportation based on available funding.
� Help in obtaining housing for exhibiting artists and participants, dependent on need.
Proposal requirements:
� A one page written explaining the premise of the exhibition.
� Names and resumes of all participants of the exhibition.
� Images of artists work on non-returnable CD-ROM or printed images from invitations,
brochures etc. Please do not send slides or any image materials that need to be returned.
Proposals must be received by July 1, 2006. Selection made by August 1, 2006
