In 2010, the Everson Museum of Art introduces The Edge of Art: New York State Artist Series as an alternative to the traditional Biennial Exhibition. Fit to be Bound, the second exhibition in a series of four will showcase a broad range of artist books created by artists currently living in New York State–the first survey of its kind at the Everson. The exhibition will be an exploration of the various means by which contemporary artists have expanded the notion of the book form, from the traditional to the sculptural, from paper to mixed-media, small-scale and oversized. New York artists working in all media areencouraged to submit new work for the exhibition which will include between 20-30 works of art.

All media are acceptable. Artists making sculptural books are strongly encouraged to submit. All entries must have been executed within the past two years. Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010.

EACH ENTRANT MAY SUBMIT UP TO TWO WORKS, with a total of not more than five images. Digital images must be on CD in jpeg format.

Non-refundable handling fee of $30 or $20 for Everson members. Your $30 may be applied to an Everson membership at the participating level ($50).

The jurors for Fit to be Bound are Everson Senior Curator, Debora Ryan, Peter Verheyen, book artist and conservator at Syracuse University Special Collections, and Hannah Frieser, Director of Light Work, Syracuse, NY.
