Transforming the Elements: Earth, Water, Fire & Air

Deadline: March 7, 2008 (RECEIVE)

Transforming the Elements: Earth, Water, Fire & Air

Artisans Center of Virginia
Waynesboro, VA
May 15 – June 25, 2008

The concepts of earth, water, fire and air have both philosophical and intellectual associations. The elements are symbols which refer to properties that add to our experience by reminding us how we feel in the presence of nature. The very essence of our relationship to the elements is in harmony with the creative process, for it has a direct correlation to design, materials, color choices and most importantly, is linked to state of mind of the artist as creator.

Earth - square, green, strength, abundance, stability
Water - circle, blue, emotions, wisdom, the soul
Fire - triangle, red, energy, inspiration, passion
Air - semi circle, yellow, intellect, communication

The exhibition seeks to feature artists who creatively articulate their connection to the elements.
