The Al & Mickey Quinlan Residency is an application-based 8-week program for emerging and mid-career Midwest artists focused in the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, created and led in partnership with the Miller Art Museum. The 2024 resident is invited to live and work at the Dome House. The residency serves the broader mission of the Dome House to provide artists working in all mediums with space for creativity, contemplation and inspiration.

The residency is limited to applicants who reside in the Midwest states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

STIPEND & SUPPORT: Artist in residence (AIR) will receive a $500 stipend to support creative endeavors while in residence at the Dome House Al & Mickey Quinlan Artist Residency. The stipend is to be used for professional supplies, shipping of supplies and artwork, and, if applicable, other residency-related expenses outside of the Miller’s stated obligations. The stipend can also be used for personal expenses outside of the residency. No receipts or accounting of expenditures are required.

EDUCATION & OUTREACH: AIR will be expected to actively engage the public through educational outreach for a minimum of 5 hours per week.

HOUSING & MEALS: AIR from outside of the Door County area will have living quarters in a semiprivate loft space at the Dome House, which also houses the adjacent studio/work space. The space is fully furnished. Basic cooking equipment will be provided; AIR will be responsible for groceries and preparation of meals. AIR is expected to cover personal living expenses, additional materials and supplies above those furnished and any other expenses relating to the cost of producing work incurred while in the program.
