GOAL:
The goal of the catalog and exhibition is to showcase the breadth and depth of contemporary fiber arts. Makers are encouraged to submit work of any size or format that demonstrates innovative use of textile media. Any textile technique or material is acceptable, including the use of nontraditional materials and time arts, such as video and sound. SDA encourages established, emerging and student artists to participate.
ELIGIBILITY:
This exhibition is open to all members of Surface Design Association (SDA). Artists/designers must be current members of SDA to submit work. If you are not a current member, you may become one via www.surfacedesign.org.
3 pieces per artist may be entered.
Work must have been completed since January 1, 2013.
Work executed under classroom/educational guidance or supervision is not eligible.
ENTRY FEES:
$40 entry fee for up to 3 works will be charged through CaFÉ™.
$20 entry fee for students will be charged through CaFÉ™.

CATALOG OVERVIEW: (truncated)
A single juror/curator will select all work for inclusion in a comprehensive print catalog with full and detailed images as well as artist statements and essays addressing context and evolution of contemporary textile arts. A group of these works will be selected for installation in Materialities exhibition.
JUROR:
Namita Gupta Wiggers, curator-at-large, writer and co-founder/director of Critical Craft Forum - www.criticalcraftforum.com - will select work that provides meaningful answers to the question: “What do textiles/fibers and their associated processes offer artists that cannot be achieved in other media?”
AWARDS:
BEST IN SHOW - $700
2ND PLACE - $400
3RD PLACE - $300
HONORABLE MENTION - $100
SDA AWARD OF EXCELLENCE - ONE YEAR MEMBERSHIP TO SDA
