Blanche Ames National Juried Art Exhibition
During her time at Borderland, Blanche Ames created an immense and beautiful body of artwork, much of which still adorns the walls of the Ames Mansion. It was a passion, one that she shared with her husband as the illustrator of his many works of scholarship.
Now, celebrating 100 years of the Ames Mansion, Curators Norma Urban and Robert Bendt bring the Blanche Ames National Juried Art Exhibition to Borderland for its ninth year. Sculptor and Watercolorist David Lang will juror the 2011 exhibition. Prizes ranging from $250 to $1,250 will be presented to winning artists during the show's opening reception.
Rules of Entry
For two-dimensional pieces, provide one 8 x 10 color print per work. For three-dimensional pieces, provide a front and a rear view or an overall view and a detail. Quality reproductions are essential for fair judging. Each print must be clearly marked on the BACK with the following information; title of work, medium, size (height x width x depth, in inches) and top of work must be indicated. DO NOT include your name on the print. Accepted artists will be required to supply a CD containing good quality images of their accepted entry(s).
Specifications
Artists are eligible to submit works without regard to sex, race, creed or national origin. Artists must be 18 years of age or older, and be residents of the United States. (Living artists only). All work must be original and properly prepared for exhibition. Sales are encouraged (The Friends of Borderland retains no commission on sales).
Entry Fee
There is a $25.00 entry fee, covering up to three pieces. Additional pieces may be submitted at $5.00 per entry.
Awards
Awards are selected from the actual works of art after the show has been installed.
• The First Place winner will receive $1,250.00
• The Second Place winner will receive $500.00
• The Third Place winner will receive $250.00
A full color catalog containing images of all selected works will be published. All accepted artists will receive 1 free copy.
