The artistic foundation and spirit of community that make Snow Farm a unique learning experience is at the center of life at Snow Farm.
Snow Farm is located in Williamsburg, Massachusetts in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. We are in the heart of the "Pioneer Valley" which is home to a large number of the country's most prominent master craftspeople and very close to the five-college community of Northampton and Amherst. Our extensive and professionally equipped studios and our living space are a blend of a 1700s farm and contemporary, architect-designed structures set amidst 50 acres of New England hills and pastures. Snow Farm's four living modules are designed as a series of double rooms each of which opens out onto a large outdoor deck. The kitchen is a focal point of Snow Farm with great, wholesome food made from fresh ingredients. Each meal reflects the same intimacy and caring found throughout the program and the formal and informal participation in the kitchen creates a real sense of community.
We are currently scheduling our weeklong and intensive (2-4 day classes) for April through October 2012. If you are interested in teaching a workshop at Snow Farm, please send your resume, a few images of your work and a description of the class or classes you would like to teach to Karen@snowfarm-art.org.

2012 Exhibitions
The Smithers Art Gallery is looking for submissions for art in all mediums, and we will also be taking submissions for several group shows this year:
First Nations Group Show: Next year we will be exhibiting a celebration of First Nations Talent! There are no restrictions on the medium, anything from photography to carving will be happily considered.
"Man Art": a group show showcasing the unexpected talents of men. This show is looking for participants who may not consider themselves traditional artists and are interested in exploring and expressing themselves artistically.
"Craft as Art”: a show that will be presenting the many talented artisans whose functional creations also convey artistic expression. This could include musical instruments, furniture, pottery, textiles, etc.
We will also be looking for submissions for "Christmas in the Gallery", a month-long gift show that will be presented in the Gallery for the holiday season.
The Smithers Art Gallery is a non-profit gallery which is operated by the Smithers Gallery Association. The mission of the Smithers Gallery Association is to foster the development, understanding and celebration of art in our community through the operation, development, and growth of an exhibition gallery, and cultural and educational centre for the visual arts.
The Smithers Art Gallery welcomes exhibition proposals from artists, curators, and community members. All curators or art directors must be current Gallery Members (memberships run May 1 to April 30). The Gallery is usually booked 12 months in advance, with exhibitions changing approximately every 4 weeks.
As a whole, the gallery can accommodate approximately 25-30 pieces of wall art, depending on size. There is a smaller section within the main gallery referred to as the “mini gallery”. This connected space can hold 5-10 wall pieces and may be suitable for those with smaller works or portfolios. See floor plan at the end of this application.

The City of Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs is seeking artists to exhibit at Gallery S.P.A.C.E. in 2012. Gallery S.P.A.C.E. serves the Savannah community with exhibitions and educational programming that strengthen awareness and stimulate dialogue through artistic expression.
The 1,700 square-foot gallery at S.P.A.C.E. (Savannah's Place for Art, Cultural and Education) is a community venue for the promotion of and education about the visual arts, via the display of contemporary art, design and fine crafts by local and regional artists. A full year of exhibitions is augmented with lectures, gallery tours, workshops and other programs to enhance the educational experience.
Exhibiting at Gallery S.P.A.C.E. provides artists with an opportunity for a public reception, promotion, and exhibition experience, as well as exposure to Savannah's visual art community. In conjunction with an exhibition, artists are required to develop and present a learning opportunity to the public such as a workshop, lecture or demonstration.
All media will be considered for a non-degree seeking solo or group exhibition, including video and installation pieces. Proposals should be professionally presented and should include the application, a cover letter, a resume, an artist statement, a previous exhibition record, 10-12 digital images of work to be considered; and a self-addressed, stamped envelope if the proposal needs to be returned.
The deadline for submissions is September 9 at 4 p.m. Proposals should be submitted to Debra Zumstein, Arts Programs Coordinator, City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs, 9 W. Henry St., Savannah, GA 31401.

BACKGROUND
The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation is a UK charity, established in 1988 with the generous support of Daiwa Securities Co Ltd. Its purpose is to support closer links between Britain and Japan in all fields of activity, including the visual arts. This is the second Daiwa Foundation Art Prize. In its inaugural year, the prize resulted in a solo show at the Tomio Koyama Gallery in Tokyo for Marcus Coates. The Foundation is once again offering artists a unique opportunity to gain an insight into Japan’s visual art sector. Scai the Bathhouse is the partner organisation of the second Daiwa Foundation Art Prize.in Japan. The winner will be awarded a £5,000 participation fee plus travel and accommodation costs for a 7 day period in Japan to coincide with the opening of the exhibition in Autumn 2012. During this period support and introductions to key individuals and organisations in the Japanese contemporary art world will be arranged.

An exhibition of the three selected short listed artists for the 2012 Daiwa Foundation Art Prize will be held at the Daiwa Foundation Japan House, 13/14 Cornwall Terrace (Outer Circle), London NW1 4QP in June 2012.
The winning artist will have a solo show at Scai the Bathhouse, Tokyo in Autumn 2012.

Textile artists are invited to submit an entry for a travelling exhibition of textile works exploring the title theme – Beneath the Southern Sky. Each work will be in a 40x100cm (W x L) vertical banner format and up to 30 works may be selected by the curator, Brenda Gael Smith. International entries are welcome.
Conditions of Entry (truncated)
- Entry is open to all textile artists. International entries are welcome. Non-Australian artists must provide completed paperwork to satisfy customs requirements.
- Entries may be any kind of fibre art but each work must be sturdy enough to travel without special requirements.
- Entries must measure 40x100cm finished (W x L, vertical banner format) and include both a hanging sleeve and velcro strips in accordance with the curator’s directions.
- Entries must be submitted via the Beneath the Southern Sky Online Entry Form by no later than 25 January 2012 (NSW, Australia time). No paper entries or disks will be accepted.
- Only one quilt will be selected per entrant, although artists may enter more than one work.

• Submissions must have been completed in the past 2 years.

on fiber or fiber techniques.

The Fiber Artists of San Antonio are pleased to announce a call
for entries for the 2011 Annual Exhibition. Part of our mission is to promote and advance fiber art through the education of members and the public. This is an opportunity for fiber artists to exhibit their work and for the community to gain a greater appreciation for fiber art.
Eligibility
• Submissions must have been completed in the past 2 years.
• Entry should be of original design and execution with a major focus
on fiber or fiber techniques.
• Collaborations are eligible.

Now, celebrating 100 years of the Ames Mansion, Curators Norma Urban and Robert Bendt bring the Blanche Ames National Juried Art Exhibition to Borderland for its ninth year. Sculptor and Watercolorist David Lang will juror the 2011 exhibition. Prizes ranging from $250 to $1,250 will be presented to winning artists during the show's opening reception.
Rules of Entry
For two-dimensional pieces, provide one 8 x 10 color print per work. For three-dimensional pieces, provide a front and a rear view or an overall view and a detail. Quality reproductions are essential for fair judging. Each print must be clearly marked on the BACK with the following information; title of work, medium, size (height x width x depth, in inches) and top of work must be indicated. DO NOT include your name on the print. Accepted artists will be required to supply a CD containing good quality images of their accepted entry(s).

This exhibit seeks works of art that use toys and children’s playthings as the inspiration, subject matter, and/or medium with the goal of creating playful, amusing, nostalgic, or poignant commentaries on the role of toys in our lives. Many of us hold fond memories of special toys that yielded hours of entertainment and can vividly remember when a treasured toy was lost, broken, stolen, or otherwise retired. For these reasons and more, toys can be a powerful art medium, conjuring up both treasured and difficult memories of childhood, past friendships, and other recollections. From the utterly outrageous to the sappy and sentimental, this exhibit will include all media, small to large scale. The exhibit will be installed in the Main Gallery of the Arts Building, but a small number of outdoor works will be considered for the Sculpture Garden. Cash awards will be presented. The exhibit will be up during Garden In Lights, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Art Center’s award-winning holiday light show. In the spirit of the holiday season, and with the thousands of families in mind who will visit during this festive time, the jury seeks works that are engaging, and fun, and above all, playful!

All media types are welcome; small to large scale; indoors and outdoors. The exhibition is open to artists age 18 and older working in the U.S. Video entries must be submitted on DVD.

Annmarie’s residency program provides a serene place on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay for visual, musical, and literary artists to create works that address ecological issues and/or inspire community involvement. Artists have access to a private studio space in addition to a variety of classroom studios and garage spaces, a waterfront, and fifty acres of forest and field. Residencies are meant to focus on merging the arts and the environment and should include the involvement of the local community to some capacity.
Spring/Fall Residencies: residents are required to work with field trip groups and/or school outreach programs as scheduled.
Summer residency: summer residents are required to design a public art project that engages the visitors to Annmarie Garden in the art-making process. Summer residents are required to work alongside the public for at least 12 hours/week.
Eligibility
Professional and emerging visual artists, musicians, and literary artists may apply. Selection is made by an internal panel and/or by a peer review panel. Annmarie Garden accommodates only one artist at a time.
Average length of residency
• 1 to 3 months
• For summer residencies, 3 months preferred
Studios and special equipment
Resident artists have access to studio space within the living quarters (one bedroom), and are also welcome to use other gallery and classroom space as available. Annmarie has a modest ceramics studio with a kiln, slab roller, and potter’s wheels that are also available for use, as well as a painting studio with easels. With numerous indoor and outdoor exhibition and installation options, artists are encouraged think creatively about how and where to display their work. Artists should bring their own equipment.

The basis for selection in the "Art Inter/National Exhibition" is sensitive to the diversity of work submitted; Box Heart Gallery strives to recognize that artists make art for different reasons and from different experiences. Box Heart looks closely for works that convey evidence of personal creative explorations and artistic commitment that directly relate to the purpose of the exhibition. A large part of determining the artist's commitment to the exhibition's theme rests solely on their ability to convey this evidence through the artist statement. The execution of the art work - as related to the artist's intention - is then considered. The depth to which an artist's work both reflects and enhances their vision determines a "Best of Show" nomination.
Art Inter/National is a celebration of artistic expression from all over the world. It's an exhibition that displays how the space one occupies both influences and guides the creative process. Box Heart encourages diversity in the media used to create the work, in the artists and his/her interpretation of Art Inter/National. There are no limits or boundaries, no categories or types. Box Heart is looking for expressions in art that are not only cultivated, but also created because of each artist's place on this earth.
One artist will receive the Best of Show Award. This artist is awarded Box Heart "Artist of the Year" and receives their own Solo Exhibition in the 2013 Exhibition Year. This includes Gallery Representation with Box Heart Gallery.

AMERICA’S PARKS Through the Beauty of Art is an exhibition competition open to all artists, the purpose of which is to recognize and promote excellence in original artworks depicting any park (national, state, provincial, county, city) in Canada, Mexico and The United States.
The 2013 inaugural exhibition of AMERICA’S PARKS Through the Beauty of Art is scheduled as the first of three, with others to follow in 2014 and 2015. The 2013 inaugural exhibition will premiere in Bolivar, Missouri from March 17–April 14, 2013 at the Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art.
The Dunnegan is a noteworthy museum that has hosted several notable traveling museum exhibitions. The Dunnegan has also had a tradition of hosting park art exhibits, notably, ARTS FOR THE PARKS.
ELIGIBLE SUBJECT MATTER: Original artworks depicting subject matter found in any national, state, provincial, county, or city park, or any park of any other such unit in Canada, Mexico, and The United States is eligible.
ELIGIBLE MEDIA: Original, two-dimensional art completed in 2010, ’11, or ’12 is eligible. Eligible media includes: oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, mixed media, pastel, pencil, pen and ink, tempera, batik, alkyd, scratchboard, and original prints (e.g., lithograph, etching, engraving, serigraph). Ineligible media includes: any media not listed above such as computer enhanced or generated artwork, photography, reproduction prints, sculpture, video.
SIZE RESTRICTION: Not including frame or mat, the maximum size for entered artworks is 900 square inches. Calculate by multiplying the horizontal and vertical dimensions. Example: A 30” x 30” painting would equal 900 square inches.

AMERICA’S PARKS Through the Beauty of Art is an exhibition competition open to all artists, the purpose of which is to recognize and promote excellence in original artworks depicting any park (national, state, provincial, county, city) in Canada, Mexico and The United States.
The 2013 inaugural exhibition of AMERICA’S PARKS Through the Beauty of Art is scheduled as the first of three, with others to follow in 2014 and 2015. The 2013 inaugural exhibition will premiere in Bolivar, Missouri from March 17–April 14, 2013 at the Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art.
The Dunnegan is a noteworthy museum that has hosted several notable traveling museum exhibitions. The Dunnegan has also had a tradition of hosting park art exhibits, notably, ARTS FOR THE PARKS.
ELIGIBLE SUBJECT MATTER: Original artworks depicting subject matter found in any national, state, provincial, county, or city park, or any park of any other such unit in Canada, Mexico, and The United States is eligible.
ELIGIBLE MEDIA: Original, two-dimensional art completed in 2010, ’11, or ’12 is eligible. Eligible media includes: oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, mixed media, pastel, pencil, pen and ink, tempera, batik, alkyd, scratchboard, and original prints (e.g., lithograph, etching, engraving, serigraph). Ineligible media includes: any media not listed above such as computer enhanced or generated artwork, photography, reproduction prints, sculpture, video.
SIZE RESTRICTION: Not including frame or mat, the maximum size for entered artworks is 900 square inches. Calculate by multiplying the horizontal and vertical dimensions. Example: A 30” x 30” painting would equal 900 square inches.

Terms and Conditions:
All submissions to Birds in Stitches must incorporate some fiber medium or technique (quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, weaving, rope, twine, thread, etc.) AND must have some bird imagery or theme. The design must be original, although incorporating patterns as PART of your design is acceptable.
Only two dimensional or low relief, wall hung works will be considered. Works may not exceed 30” in any one direction or 50 lbs. in weight. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. All accepted work must be delivered to the curator no later than September 23, 2011, and must be ready for hanging.
Entry Fee = $25 for up to two works.
Up to $500 in Juror’s awards
Juror: Cash prizes will be awarded by an independent fiber artist, to be announced after the exhibit opens.
Curator:
Independent curator Eva M. Capobianco is a locally well-known sculptor in the Ithaca area. She has organized numerous juried shows for State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca and for 171 Cedar Arts Center in Corning New York. She also has many years of experience doing exhibit installation for these galleries as well as for the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, Staten Island, NY. Many of her current wall hung sculptures incorporate cross stitched bird images.

ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to all current CGOA members, at all membership levels, excluding judges.
Entries must be primarily crocheted. Other fiber, needle and crafting arts may be incorporated in your design, but the overall impression must be crochet. Any materials may be used.
Entries must be original designs that have not been previously entered in this competition or previously published in any print or electronic media. Entries do not have to be new or recently crocheted, as long as they are your own designs.
DESIGN CATEGORIES
There will be seven judging categories:
1. FancifulFashion: fancy adult garmentsand accessories, including gowns, dresses and evening wear.
2. Fashion: for women or men, including sweaters, tops, jackets and skirts.
3. Accessories: including shawls, socks, scarves, hats, bags, belts and jewelry.
4. Small Wonders: anything small scale, including baby items, toys, amigurimi and small décor items.
5. Afghans: any and all afghans, throws, blankets and bed or sofa covers.
6. Thread Crochet: anything made with crochet thread, including doilies, décor and accessories.
7. Artistic Expressions: designs more artistic rather than functional in nature, including free-form and mixed media pieces, hangings, sculpture and wearable art.
Please decide which category best describes your entry. Entries may be shifted to the most appropriate category at the discretion of the judges. If your entry is an ensemble or grouping, please include no more than three individual elements or pieces per single entry.You may submit as many entries in as many categories as you like.
FEES
A $15 fee is required for the first entry plus $10 for each additional separate entry. Entry fees cover return shipping, but you are responsible for the cost of shipping your design by the deadline, 31 August 2011.
PANEL OF JUDGES
Marcy Smith, editor of Interweave Crochet magazine; Kathleen Sams, ambassador for Coats&Clark; and Drew Emborsky, the Crochet Dude. All entries will be evaluated equally in a blind judging across a range of qualities including: design appeal, use of stitches, color, selection of materials, workmanship, finishing, appearance and functionality as indicated. Judging will take place on location at the CGOA Conference in Greensboro, North Carolina, 21 September 2011.

A contemporary review of fine art printmaking in all media from around the world presented as a traveling exhibition by the Purdue University Galleries (West Lafayette, Indiana USA)
From its humble origins as simple relief rubbings or patterns stamped onto paper and cloth, the art of the print has spread to all corners of the globe, growing and developing conceptually as a result of the contributions of an ever-growing circle of international artists. By drawing and manipulating an image matrix, they have utilized the essence of the multiple to explore the varied possibilities of image, color and repetition. The proliferation of multiple images around the world has led to a shared culture of appreciation. Styles and techniques identified with particular printmaking enclaves in various parts of the world can readily be seen now in the works of artists with different languages and different cultures, separated by thousands of miles.
Entry Procedure
There will be no entry fee.
Entrants may submit up to five (5) original works completed in the past three years (2009 - 2011). Selections will be made from digital images in the form of jpeg files (maximum file dimension of eight inches in image size -- maximum resolution of 300 dpi) - no slides and no PowerPoint shows.
Work will be selected for the exhibition by: Kathryn Reeves, Professor of Art & Design at Purdue University; Kimberly Vito, Associate Professor of Art & Art History at Wright State University; Sean Caulfield, Associate Professor of Art & Design at the University of Alberta; and Craig Martin, Director of the Purdue University Galleries. The team has previously collaborated on the first and second installments of “Global Matrix” in 2002 and 2007.

MINIATURES
If the artist is accepted into the main show via the jury process, the artist will be eligible to send up to TWO miniature pieces, in addition to the juried entry(s).
There is NO entry fee or jurying of the miniatures, which should be shipped with your accepted work. Quality of these items should match that of your juried work. These smaller items have proven to be popular with show attendees and you are encouraged to participate in this opportunity.
Size limitations for miniatures are:
Two-dimensional work: The outside dimension of the frame is not to exceed 40 inches. This equals the sum of all 4 sides.
Example: up to 8” X 12” maximum frame size.
Three-dimensional work: The artwork, including base, should be able to fit into an 8” X 8” X 8” box.

An international exhibition of fiber art works showcasing shibori’s inherent transformative power on material, from 2-D to 3-D. With its shape changing and volume shifting abilities, the shibori process interplays uniquely with animal-based fibers. Inventive, style-making designs exploiting this interplay have been seen on catwalks of designers such as Yoshiki Hishinuma and Jurgen Lehl and in fiber work of artists like Jean Cacicedo and Jorie Johnson. This exhibition also comments on contemporary global innovations in materials that have been with humans since primeval time. An accompanying exhibition, “Animal Fibers in Chinese Tradition,” curated by Edith Cheung, will visit the resourcefulness and beauty of traditional historical works created in China, addressing humankind’s relationship with animals in a shared environment.
The departure theme for this international exhibition is art work made from animal fiber, animal hide, or a combination of both, utilizing the principles of shaped or resisted shibori dyeing techniques. These works should be inspired by the transformative properties of materials and their potential to change surface and structure, exhibiting visual and/or dimensional transformation.
