We will start an entirely new approach to some of our exhibits with an artist-in-residency format. The Main Gallery of The Arts Center will be turned into a studio for 2 or 3 artists working and displaying their work. The artists will have an opportunity to create a body of work that responds to a different environment and interaction with the public.

We are inviting local and regional artists to submit an application for an artist residency, coinciding with an exhibition of their work in the Main Gallery of The Arts Center. Two to three residents will be selected. Artists in all media can apply, with the exception of glass blowing, metal forging and similar processes which the space cannot handle.

We are looking for a combination of two or three artists that will complement each other’s media and approach. Two or three artists can apply together for individual work or to propose an integrated body of work.

The artists must understand that the environment is in a public venue, and an openness or willingness towards interaction and conversations with the public is required.

The four week on-site residency will take place at The Arts Center in July 2011.

The call is ongoing, but no applications will be accepted after May 1, 2011. We will try to fill the residency as soon as possible, even before the May 1 date.
