BeautifulBowls.com presents The 2008 Art In The Round Contest, a publicly juried competition for US artists.
Media categories include glass, ceramics, wood, metal, gourds, basketry, & mixed/other media. Learn more about the contest.
Art enthusiasts from all over the world can participate in the interactive online jury process. Learn more about the jury process.
• $6,500 in cash awards – Best of Show ($3,000) and 1st Place in
each media category ($500)
• Online entry – June 1, 2008 – August 15, 2008. Sign up at
www.artintheroundcontest.com. Mail-in entries also accepted.
CONTEST GUIDELINES
• For the purposes of this competition “Art in the Round” is defined as original, creative expressions of the basic vessel form – including bowls, platters, vases, teapots, urns, cups/mugs, and other artful vessel forms.
• The seven media categories include glass, ceramics, metal, wood, basketry, gourds, and mixed/other media.
• $25 entry fee is required.
• The full entry fee will be donated to your favorite community art program. To learn more, visit www.artintheroundcontest.com and click on Giving Back.
• You may submit up to 3 works per entry.
• You may enter as many times as you would like but all works must be unique and may not be duplicated in previous and/or following entries. Entry fee applies to each entry.
• Your submissions must be your own work, original in conception and execution and must have been created by you within the past 3 years.
• Collaborations are acceptable but must be entered as a team. Cash awards for collaborations will be divided among team members.
• Entry begins June 1, 2008. Deadline is August 15, 2008. No entries will be accepted after deadline.
• All submissions will be in the form of digital images. No slides, printed images, or actual works of art will be accepted.
• Online entries are preferred. If you do not wish to enter online, please use the Printable Entry Form, below. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by entry deadline.
• While artists retain copyrights to their images, BeautifulBowls.com reserves sole and irrevocable right to reproduce submitted images for the purpose of display, advertisement, and promotion of this and future Art in the Round competitions, and for any other purpose related to the competition without the consent of the artist.
THE JURY PROCESS
• Through various publications and online venues, the public is invited to participate in the jury process. Their input will determine one First Place winner in each media category and one State Finalist from each state. These winners will be announced in early November, 2008.
IMAGE REQUIREMENTS
• Medium to high quality compression jpegs, 600x600 pixels.
• You may submit up to 2 views of each work.
• You may also submit one image of yourself. An image that incorporates you and your
artwork, or you at work in the studio, is preferable. This image should be suitable for print (300 dpi) and may be used in press releases, online venues, and/or other
publications.
