Platteforum Creative Residencies

Open to artists in all genres including the visual and performing arts, design arts, new media, installation, filmmaking, writing, book arts, and craft/folk arts. Artists can apply as individuals or in collaborative teams. Students may apply but are required to have a teacher or established artist as the lead artist on their project. Artists apply to use PlatteForum as a studio environment for 4 to 6 weeks, and have access to the studio 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Residency period from September 11 to May 25, 2007.

Each resident or collaborative team proposes a body of work that will be in part dedicated to creating unique art experiences with youth. Artists receive a modest stipend during their residency. Painting Space 122

Painting Space 122 is accepting applications for its one-year Project Studio Space Program for painters, sculptors and mixed media artists (There are no darkroom facilities).

Studios are available for a low monthly rent from October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007 to professional working artists with a NYC area residence. Philadelphia Open Studio Tours

Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST) is the largest open studio event in the region, with over 180 participating artists.

POST 2006 is scheduled for October 7-8 (studios West of Broad Street) and October 14-15 (studios east of Broad).

There are a couple of great exhibition opportunities for POST artists this year, including a show at the National Constitution Center that will open on First Friday, October 6th, and a show at the gallery of the Center For Emerging Visual Artists off Rittenhouse Square.

The Leeway Foundation's Art and Change Grants

The Leeway Foundation's grantmaking programs honor the transformative work of women and trans artists. The Art and Change Grants Awards fund women and trans people in the Delaware Valley region (Bucks, Camden, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties) who create art for social change.

Art and Change Grant
This is a project-based grants of up to $2,500 for women and trans people who have financial need to create their art and social change project or opportunity. The grant supports projects that have an impact on the artist and a larger group, audience, or community. All applicants must have a letter of support from a supporting or collaborating Change Partner.

The Leeway Foundation's Transformation Award

The Leeway Foundation's grantmaking programs honor the transformative work of women and trans artists. The Transformation Award fund women and trans people in the Delaware Valley region (Bucks, Camden, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties) who create art for social change.

Transformation Award

This is an annual, unrestricted (not project-based) award of $15,000 for women and trans artists in the Delaware Valley who create art for social change and have done so for at least five years, as well as demonstrating continued growth and commitment to this work.

2006 Transformation Award Deadlines: April 10 (Stage 1), August 18 [(Stage 2), by invitation only]

The Award application is a two-stage process.

Stage 1: Open to all eligible women artists. After a review of applications (basic eligibility and five questions about their art and change work), all applicants will receive notification and selected artists will receive invitations to apply to Stage 2, by mid July 2006.

Stage 2: By invitation. All invited applicants will receive a $150 application stipend to cover the costs of preparing work samples. Invited artists will receive notification and announcement of final awardees in December 2006.

The Marfa Moment Show

An Exhibition Opportunity
For Texas Artists

What is a "Marfa Moment"?
An open competition for any artist, groups of artists, arts organizations or curators to
propose an exhibition in Marfa , Texas during the "Chinati Open House" Weekend,
the second week of October 2006. All artwork must be done by Texas artists.

Where?
At the Marfa Studio of Arts "Waterstop Gallery" located in the heart of Marfa at 106 East
San Antonio St . Our gallery is a modest (800 square foot) exhibition space with 10 foot
white walls, gallery lighting and on the street visibility.

What will we offer?
Support to install your exhibition during this weekend when thousands of art interested
visitors flock to Marfa to tour the Donald Judd collection and to visit the established
exhibition spaces as well as the impromptu events.

� Press coverage to area papers and radio, including printed materials to announce exhibition.
� A manned gallery open to the public during the event and for the duration of the exhibition.
� Support to help defray costs of shipping or other art transportation based on available funding.
� Help in obtaining housing for exhibiting artists and participants, dependent on need.

Proposal requirements:
� A one page written explaining the premise of the exhibition.
� Names and resumes of all participants of the exhibition.
� Images of artists work on non-returnable CD-ROM or printed images from invitations,
brochures etc. Please do not send slides or any image materials that need to be returned.

Proposals must be received by July 1, 2006. Selection made by August 1, 2006

The Artist's Magazine 23rd Annual Art Competition

Entry Deadline: May 1, 2006

ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to artists anywhere in the world. Only original artwork, conceived and created by the entrant, will be considered. Work done in photography, including any use of photographs or photocopies other than as minor elements of a collage, will not be considered. Digital or computer-generated artwork will not be considered. Sculpture will not be considered. Employees of F+W Publications, Inc., and their immediate families, are not eligible.

JUDGING

Entries will be pre-judged and finalists will be chosen by a selection committee. Award winners and honorable mentions will be selected by the jurors named on the opposite page. All properly prepared entries will be viewed and judged.The decision of the jurors is final. The jurors reserve the right to re categorize entries.
