Fiber Arts & Textiles Magazine
Fiber Art Now is a quarterly publication. The mission is to connect and inspire the fiber arts & textiles community with the most compelling work in basketry, felting, knitting, needle arts, paper/book arts, dyeing, mixed media, surface design, quilting, sculpture, wearable art, weaving, collage, encaustic, mixed media and more. We are a worldwide community in support of what we love.
Premier issue released in October, 2011.
SUBMISSIONS
Fiber Art Now is intended for anyone interested in fiber and textile arts; artists, enthusiasts, educators, learners and collectors. We are interested in articles that feature the latest happenings, news, techniques and ideas in the worldwide fiber arts community. Generally, we do not accept “how-to” articles.
We consider articles in the following areas: weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting, quilting, paper/book arts, mixed media, encaustic, collage, needle arts, knitting, wearable art and other fiber arts areas.
We also welcome notices of fiber events in your area. (Please keep in mind that we publish quarterly and may need 4-6 months’ notice.)
We have a technically accurate style that is characterized by a warm, personal voice; we seek to explore, learn, share our art and connect with each other. We are a fledgling publication and currently cannot remunerate writers, but have plans to begin paying for submissions in Spring of 2012.
Format
•Articles should be between 350-1200 words. If you intend to write a longer article, please contact an editor first.
•Images should be at least 300 dpi with the original color profiles embedded. All text and vector images should be CMYK.
•Note that Fiber Art Now is published quarterly. All submissions must be sent no less than 60 days before publishing.

All entrants must include a CD containing:
up to 3 digital images of the entered work.
a one page CV.
a short artist’s statement limited to 50 words.
CV and artists statements.
Applicants shall cover all the necessary expenses for subscription, and freight costs to Gallery East.
Sending work from outside Australia, declaration of value for Customs should be no more than Aus $900.00.
Quarantine clearances for the works are the responsibility of the artist.
Overseas artists should consider Australian Biosecurity requirements prior to despatching their work.

- Quilt Expo competition open to ALL quilt makers, amateur and professional.
- All quilts will be juried; then judged by NQA Certified Judges.
- Quilts must have been made in the last five years and must not have been exhibited previous years at Quilt Expo.
- Each person/group may enter one quilt per category; maximum of four quilts/entries.
- All quilts must be quilted through 3 layers by hand or machine or both. Quilts in hardwood frames are not accepted.
- Each entry requires a separate entry form and $5 entry fee.

- No more than 3 Pieces of work to be juried.
- Framed 2D artwork must be ready for hanging (no saw tooth hangers). Wire should be attached.
- Unframed “gallery wrapped” canvases are acceptable.
- Sculpture should be no larger than 6 feet. Artists may need to provide their own pedestals.
- All artwork for consideration MUST be submitted via JPEG/JPG image.

The Albury Art Prize is one of New South Wales' oldest municipal art awards. Over its 64 year old history, a substantial number of renowned artists such as Noel Counihan, Fred Cress, Robert Jacks, Louis Kahan, Deborah Klein, Daniel Moynihan and Imants Tiller have been awarded the prize.
This year the Albury Art Prize is offering $20,000 for an international residency, attracting visual artists from across Australia.
The shortlisted entrants are to exhibited at the Albury Art Gallery with the winner announced on Friday 27 January 2012.
Terms and Conditions (truncated)
Australian citizens or residents of Australia are invited to submit one entry in the 2012 Albury Art Prize.
Entries can be of any visual medium. Artists are responsible for all equipment, hanging and transport necessary for their works.
Eligible works in the proposal must have been executed within two years of 1st May 2012 and must be the original work of the artist.
The application must include:
• Up to 5 images of work for consideration by the selection jury (jpg format)
• The artists' curriculum vitae
• A detailed rationale, project plan and budget for the residency program the artist proposes to undertake
• Completed online entry form and payment of non-returnable fee of $60.00
• Electronic files are to be no larger than 2Mb
Entries close 12pm EST Tuesday 1 November 2011. Late entries will not be accepted.
The judging panel will consider the merits of the submitted artwork and residency proposal and develop a shortlist.
Artists will be notified 12th December 2011 by by email and/or mail if they have been short-listed.
The judge's decision will be final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into.
Payment of the $20,000 prize money will be made to the successful artist on return of the signed contract agreement and tax invoice. The prize money is exclusive of tax.
Finished work must be delivered to the Albury Art Gallery on or before 4pm Friday 16th January 2012.
Artists will be responsible for cost of freight each way and insurance whilst in transit. Work will be insured whilst in situ at the Albury Art Gallery.
Works may be for sale during the exhibition and a 30% commission will apply.
No commission will be charged on purchases made by AlburyCity.

By creating a greater presence in the city center, most notably with the building of the UNC Charlotte Center City Building and the NC Dance Theater building next to the Center, both UNC Charlotte and the Center will generate and present ambitious, forward-thinking endeavors that invest in the cultural education of the communities they serve. These future programs will focus on: raising the intellectual and aesthetic interest in contemporary art on the campus and throughout Charlotte, maintaining a vital presence in the community through arts programming, workshops, lectures, and exhibitions and forging new connections with other disciplines on the UNC Charlotte campus.
Each year, in partnership with University of North Carolina at Charlotte College of Arts and Architecture 1 artist is selected by both institutions with the shared goal of more sustained interactions with UNC Charlotte students through interdisciplinary collaborative projects, art exhibitions, and innovative educational programming.

The world has become keenly aware of the way our bloated consumer culture produces tremendous volumes of trash which daily feed the ever growing mountainous landfills.
This exhibit encourages artists working in fiber to become infatuated with the idea of exploring the possibilities of this disposable and disregarded stuff as the basis for this submission. Our challenge for fiber artists everywhere is to take the most ordinary, non-precious and every day materials and to create the most extraordinary. The reuse of every conceivable material is already imbedded in the psyches of many working artists today.
This exhibit will require the use of materials which are not durable and are normally considered ephemeral and short lived.
Rules of Entry (truncated)
Entry Fee: $35.00
Juror: Warren Seelig
Warren Seelig lives and works in Rockland, Maine. He holds the rank of distinguished visiting professor in the Fibers/Mixed Media program at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia where he teaches, curates and writes on various subjects related to textile, fiber and material studies.
Awards: Best in show award: $250.00 and a solo show during 2012-2013 exhibit season.

- All work must be original, one-of-a-kind, made by the artist submitting the entry.
- Artists may submit up to a maximum of three images, completed within the last three years, to be in the exhibition. Due to space restrictions, 2-D work must be 40"x 40" or less, 3-D work on pedestals no larger than 18" x 18" x 18". Freestanding works will be accepted. No large installations can be considered. Yardage is acceptable.
- Selected artists are responsible for costs of shipping their work to and from the gallery.

FLORIDA IN FABRIC is presented by the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts to promote an appreciation of quilt making as an art form and to provide Florida quilters with an opportunity to display their quilts in the premier textile arts center of the state. Art accepted for this exhibition will exemplify innovation in quilting and surface design techniques as well as excellence in artistic composition and craftsmanship.
Acceptance Rules
Florida artists may submit up to two (2) entries of high quality contemporary art quilts for a juried exhibition. Entries must have been completed after July 1, 2011.
An entry is considered to be a quilt if it is composed of at least three layers that are stitched or fastened together.
Quilts must be 40” x 60.”
Each quilt must have at least a 3” sleeve securely attached to the back of the quilt. Quilts 60 inches wide must have a center opening in the sleeve to allow for proper hanging.
Entries must be received by March 16, 2012.
Quilts must be available from April 20 through August 18. Images of quilts selected will be retained by the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts for publicity and promotional purposes. Acknowledgement of the artist will be made in all such uses. The artist shall retain copyright of the work at all times.
Fees: $20 entry fee for each submission. LIMIT TWO ENTRIES per artist.
