Deadline: September 8, 2006 at 6:00 p.m.
The Dayton Visual Arts Center gallery exhibits artwork of all kinds, and serves artists of all stripes - from emerging to established - working in all media. http://daytonvisualarts.org/showingatDVAC.html
The majority of our exhibitions are scheduled from a biennial Call for Entries. An outside jury of three art professionals review and score submitted proposals and images. The resulting recommendations are reviewed by an Exhibition and Programming Committee. These board members and community volunteers plan two seasons of shows from the most competitive entries. The schedule is then approved by DVAC's Board of Trustees.
We plan our main exhibition schedule about 2-1/2 years in advance. The gallery is currently booked through August 2007. Our next Call for Entries will take place in the autumn of 2006. The prospectus is available here: http://daytonvisualarts.org/documents/DVACcallforentries2006.pdf
You do not have to be a member to submit a proposal, though members may submit one proposal free of charge.
The DVAC gallery maintains professional standards in installation and presentation, but also serves as a multipurpose space for community events, lectures, and receptions. Due to the nature of how this space is used, there may be some limitations on 3-D work. Artwork may need to be moved at times for events.
Sale of work exhibited in the gallery is encouraged.
All entries received by 6 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2006 will be reviewed. Notification of jury time and date, which is open to the public, will be sent by Sept. 29.
The application fee for each proposal is $30; this fee is waived for the first application from any current DVAC member.
