April is an opportunity for venues, creation and the artists associated with the fiber and/or textiles, to make themselves known to the general public by creating a creative synergy.
We are in the call for projects for 2012 in four categories: contemporary art, craft, design and heritage.
Your gallery presents an exhibition fiber in April? You want to open your studio to the public textile space of a weekend?
The case will be evaluated by the founding members of ... In April: Diagonal, MATERIA, House of Crafts Quebec, Textile Printing and Design Centre of Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles in Montreal, Concordia University, International Biennial of flax Portland Museum of Costume and Textile of Quebec.
Cost of participation (if selected): $ 100 per organization / $ 50 per artist. This amount goes directly to the visibility of events.

The records must include:
1. The completed Activity Sheet (you must submit one form per activity) A description of your project and its relationship with fiber and textiles (maximum 250 words);
2. Visual documentation: up to 10 digital images per artist on CD (readable on Mac) format JPEG, 72 dpi. Images must be clearly identified and accompanied by a list accurate description (title of the work, medium, size and date);
3. A brief CV for each participant (maximum 2 pages). All text documents must be sent in digital form (on CD - readable on Mac), and must be in Word (.doc) or PDF for text, JPEG (.Jpg) for images.

Taiwan Art Quilt Society (TAQS) will organize an international art quilt exhibition possessed of artistic and educational quality. TIQE2012 will focus on global issues and highlight the creation of quilting is not only the interpretation of techniques but also the contemporary artistic merit of environmental care and the spirit of humanities.
Theme: Moving Water and River
Water and river are full of life and nutrient: novelty, freshness, and sustainability symbolize a source of vitality, expecting to convey an energetic, broad, and microcosmic angle of view, as well as each kind of life and existence that water and river embrace.
Curator: Lin Hsin-Chen
Lin Hsin-Chen is President of TAQS. Born and grown up in Taiwan, she is a fiber artist who has been devoting herself to creation, organizing exhibitions and teaching for 20 years. She often leads students or groups to work together on large-sized collective works. Global environmental issues are always her concerns so she puts her observation and reflection into her works. (Website: http://www.linhsinchen.idv.tw/). Fiber art is creations of integration encompassed a culture of life. She puts all her effort into expanding her horizons to achieve the goal for design and makes every detail well-connected to one another. To go beyond the limitation, sometimes she has to break the given standards to pursue the ultimate spirit.
Eligibility and Guidelines:

Entries must be a maximum of 200cm (79") per side. A label including artist name and the title of work securely attached on the back bottom corner. Accepted works should be ready for hanging with a 12cm( 5") wide sleeve attached to the back at the top.
Groups: Works must be based on water and river concept and created by group(s).

Catalog: A full-color catalog documenting the complete TIQE2012 collection will be published and sent to the exhibitors. Artists have to provide digital images of exhibition works. Artists have to grant TAQS with the right to use images of exhibition works for catalog publication without copyright fee or any other extra fees.
Sales: There are no sales of art works during the exhibition.

Then show us how creatively you can integrate elements of words into your work and let’s elevate the unsung hero of all our communication: the mighty alphabet!
Media: Any media including photography or video. Must be ready to hang or display. Video entries must include projection or playing equipment. All works should be labeled with artist’s name, telephone, medium, size, and price, if for sale.
By taking part in the show, artists agree to a 30% tax-deductible donation to the Center from all sales. Open to all artists aged 18 and over.
Hand-deliver (no slides or photos) up to three pieces of work to O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, 616 Throckmorton Avenue, Mill Valley, on Friday, September 2, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. or on Saturday, September 3, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. We will notify you (preferably by email) about whether your work has been accepted by Monday, September 5 at 5 p.m.
Gallery requirements are that insurance coverage is provided by the Artist and that accepted work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibition.

For the ninth year, the Carnegie Center for Art & History invites artists to submit entries for Form, Not Function: Quilt Art at the Carnegie, an exhibition exploring the world of contemporary art quilts. This annual, juried exhibit draws works of art by artists across the United States and celebrates innovation and creative thought in the increasingly popular medium of art quilts.
Eligibility: Form, Not Function is open to artists living in the United States. All works must be quilted (two or more distinct layers held together with stitches); other techniques and mediums may be incorporated. Works must be ready to hang on the wall, including the hanging rod. Works must be original and completed since January 1, 2008. There is no minimum or maximum size. (Gallery walls are 12 feet high. Works cannot be suspended from the ceiling.) Three-dimensional works (including those mounted on stretchers) are eligible, but must be ready to exhibit on the floor, on a pedestal or include mounting hardware for wall display.
The Carnegie Center is pleased to have Kate Lenkowsky, Marti Plager, and Jennifer Sargent as jurors for the 2012 Form, Not Function exhibition. In addition to selecting the works for the exhibit, they will also select some of the exhibition awards on the opening day of the exhibition.
Cash Awards: $1,000 Best of Show, $300 Award of Excellence presented by River City Fiber Artists, $200 Award of Excellence presented by the Louisville Area Fiber and Textile Artists, $100 Award for Political and Social Commentary, $100 Award to the quilt that best interprets and was inspired by nature, and $50 Visitors’Choice Award, plus additional cash Awards of Merit.

Selected items from the designed binding collections, including work by Margaret Armstrong, Olive Grover and the studio artists of Decorative Designers, are emphasized in this call. The artistic foundation and spirit of community that make Snow Farm a unique learning experience is at the center of life at Snow Farm.
Snow Farm is located in Williamsburg, Massachusetts in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. We are in the heart of the "Pioneer Valley" which is home to a large number of the country's most prominent master craftspeople and very close to the five-college community of Northampton and Amherst. Our extensive and professionally equipped studios and our living space are a blend of a 1700s farm and contemporary, architect-designed structures set amidst 50 acres of New England hills and pastures. Snow Farm's four living modules are designed as a series of double rooms each of which opens out onto a large outdoor deck. The kitchen is a focal point of Snow Farm with great, wholesome food made from fresh ingredients. Each meal reflects the same intimacy and caring found throughout the program and the formal and informal participation in the kitchen creates a real sense of community.
We are currently scheduling our weeklong and intensive (2-4 day classes) for April through October 2012. The artistic foundation and spirit of community that make Snow Farm a unique learning experience is at the center of life at Snow Farm.
Snow Farm is located in Williamsburg, Massachusetts in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. We are in the heart of the "Pioneer Valley" which is home to a large number of the country's most prominent master craftspeople and very close to the five-college community of Northampton and Amherst. Our extensive and professionally equipped studios and our living space are a blend of a 1700s farm and contemporary, architect-designed structures set amidst 50 acres of New England hills and pastures. Snow Farm's four living modules are designed as a series of double rooms each of which opens out onto a large outdoor deck. The kitchen is a focal point of Snow Farm with great, wholesome food made from fresh ingredients. Each meal reflects the same intimacy and caring found throughout the program and the formal and informal participation in the kitchen creates a real sense of community.
We are currently scheduling our weeklong and intensive (2-4 day classes) for April through October 2012. 2012 Exhibitions
The Smithers Art Gallery is looking for submissions for art in all mediums, and we will also be taking submissions for several group shows this year:
First Nations Group Show: Next year we will be exhibiting a celebration of First Nations Talent! There are no restrictions on the medium, anything from photography to carving will be happily considered.
"Man Art": a group show showcasing the unexpected talents of men. This show is looking for participants who may not consider themselves traditional artists and are interested in exploring and expressing themselves artistically.
"Craft as Art”: a show that will be presenting the many talented artisans whose functional creations also convey artistic expression. This could include musical instruments, furniture, pottery, textiles, etc.
We will also be looking for submissions for "Christmas in the Gallery", a month-long gift show that will be presented in the Gallery for the holiday season.
The Smithers Art Gallery is a non-profit gallery which is operated by the Smithers Gallery Association. The mission of the Smithers Gallery Association is to foster the development, understanding and celebration of art in our community through the operation, development, and growth of an exhibition gallery, and cultural and educational centre for the visual arts.
The Smithers Art Gallery welcomes exhibition proposals from artists, curators, and community members. All curators or art directors must be current Gallery Members (memberships run May 1 to April 30). The Gallery is usually booked 12 months in advance, with exhibitions changing approximately every 4 weeks.
As a whole, the gallery can accommodate approximately 25-30 pieces of wall art, depending on size. There is a smaller section within the main gallery referred to as the “mini gallery”. This connected space can hold 5-10 wall pieces and may be suitable for those with smaller works or portfolios. See floor plan at the end of this application.
