London International Creative Competition is a vehicle for facilitating contact between uniquely talented visual artists and an international audience.

All innovative artwork should have the opportunity to be seen; regardless of experience, nationality, or connections. LICC aims to bridge the gap between uniquely talented artists and an international audience. The artwork is judged by a board of internationally esteemed artists, writers, curators, gallery owners and other luminaries of the arts.

Who Is Eligible?

The London International Creative Competition, LICC, is open to anyone 21 years of age or older, from any country. Professional artists will be judged against other professionals and non-professionals against other non-professionals.

All entries must include the appropriate entry fee payable to the London International Creative Competition (LICC).

Please Note: You may enter up to five images per category for one entry fee.


LICC invites passionate visual artists, regardless of experience or nationality, to submit their innovative artwork for inclusion in the 2007 competition. Chosen entries will be exhibited in a show in March of 2008 in London and published in the annual LICC book, which is distributed throughout the international professional arts community.

Textile Art Alliance’s 4th Annual Wearable Art Fashion Show and Boutique features limited edition clothing and accessories produced by local fiber artists.

All forms of wearable art are offered for sale, including jackets, vests, tops, coats, skirts, outfits, and accessories such as bags, jewelry, scarves, shawls, hats, gloves and other imaginative wearables.

Items are presented in both Table Top Boutiques and a Runway Fashion Show.

Every item displayed must be for sale.


OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPATION

Fiber Artists may rent a vendor boutique table and/or submit items for the runway fashion show. All featured wearable items must be fiber or contain a fiber construction technique.


BOUTIQUE TABLE
Space is 8’ x 8’. Table rentals include a table fee and a raffle donation.


TAA TABLE TAA will sponsor a table for TAA members who have a limited number
of items to sell. The “cost” of participation is volunteering for one shift at the TAA Table, the Checkout Table, or a general committee task.


RUNWAY FASHION SHOW

Up to 3 outfits may be submitted for the Runway Fashion Show. Since items must be easily visible from a distance, no small pieces of jewelry will be accepted. Due to the limited number of pieces that can be shown on the runway, TAA cannot ensure that every applicant’s work will be included in the show.

THEME

The 2007 theme seeks to inspire the creation and artistic development of contemporary Furniture, Lighting and Furnishings! That’s right, Fringe Furniture is broadening its scope in a material world.

Ideas for exhibits should ideally be drawn from the variety of example ideas below. Awards this year will focus on the best in show, best work addressing the theme, best use of sustainable materials and a few other categories yet to be devised…so think and materialise!

To help get your ideas flowing consider our take on what the theme Material\ism can be:

· Preoccupation with or emphasis on material objects, comforts, and considerations, with a disinterest in or rejection of spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values

· The philosophical theory that regards matter and its motions as constituting the universe, and all phenomena, including those of mind, as due to material agencies

· The substance or substances of which a thing is made or composed

· Anything that serves as crude or raw matter to be used or developed

· Any constituent element

· A textile fabric

· A group of ideas, facts, data, etc., that may provide the basis for or be incorporated into some integrated work

· Materials, the articles or apparatus needed to make or do something

· Formed or consisting of matter; physical; corporeal: the material world


SALE OF WORK

Melbourne Fringe takes no sales commission, and the buyer will have to contact you directly, via the catalogue. Melbourne Fringe and Melbourne Museum will identify sold works with a red dot after advisement by the artist to the Fringe Furniture Producer.

The theme of the competition this year is: Jewellery. We have taken up Jewellery as the theme six times since the competition started. With every competition held, the number of the applicants and their works of art has steadily increased and there has been a wider variety of the nationalities of the applicants, which has made us feel appreciative and proud; it seems that this tendency indicates our exhibition has been becoming known. Jewellery must focus on its wearer. Indeed jewellery design changes explicitly and implicitly with the times, but people love jewellery in any time and at any place and jewellery makes its wearers feel happy. In other words, the choice of jewellery is affected by the situation in which the wearers find themselves - even by the cultural backgrounds or by their physical and emotional conditions. We hope all the applicants will turn kind and friendly eyes on people who wear the works.

This is an open competition. Individuals or groups are equally welcome.

Maximum of Entries

There is no limitation of the maximum of entries. You can submit any number of works of art. Each piece is counted and judged as one work even if several pieces make up a set. The judges except the accessories or attachments for display from consideration. The Exhibition organizer decides whether to display the accessories or attachments together with your works.

Materials

You can freely choose any kind of material in your works of art. You can even compound a variety of materials in a work.

Requirements - price, weight etc.

Basic requirements: There are not any limitations as to the size or volume of each work, but your artwork is judged if and only if it meets the basic requirements below: It is not particularly fragile. It is not difficult to carry or display. The work has to be the complete, original, and unreleased work of the applicants. The maximum price for the set of works may not exceed \100,000. Additional requirements: If you are going to send your work from overseas, you should be careful about these additional requirements: Be sure to pack a set of your works in a box. Don't use any int'l shipment service like that of FedEx (TM), but be sure to send the package by postal service.

Meroogal women’s arts prize 2007

Meroogal Women's Arts Prize 200710th anniversary

The Meroogal Women's Arts Prize is a regional, non-acquisitive competition and exhibition across the fields of visual arts, crafts and design. It is open to a work using any media made by a woman 18 years or over whose principal residence is in the local government areas of Shoalhaven, Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Eurobodalla, Bega Valley, Wingecarribee or Wollondilly.

One entry allowed per person and entry is free.

Theme

Works submitted in 2007 shall respond creatively to the theme: Origins & identity at Meroogal.

Managed by the Historic Houses Trust (HHT), Meroogal is a house in Nowra with a rich collection of artefacts that offers a unique insight into the everyday life of four generations of women whose forebears emigrated from Scotland and settled in the Shoalhaven in the early 19th century.

This year's theme has been specially chosen to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Meroogal Women's Arts Prize by focusing on the shared experiences of all women in shaping identity, and on the values and traits they have inherited and passed along to their own families. Women artists are invited to explore Meroogal and its history and then creatively respond to the theme.

Diverse and original uses of media have become a signature of this annual exhibition, which encourages the practice of traditional women's arts and crafts in a contemporary context.

Conditions of entry

The entrant must be a woman, 18 years or over on the first day of the exhibition, ie 31 August 2007.

The entrant's principal residence must be in one of the eight local government areas listed.

One entry allowed per person and entry is free.

The work entered must have been completed in the 12 months before 31 August 2007.

The work must respond to the theme and an artist statement must be submitted with the entry form or with the work.

Either a digital image of the work shall be emailed to joannag@hht.net.au or two printed photos shall be attached to the entry form or the work.

Work must respond to the theme: Origins & identity at Meroogal.

Size and media restrictions

The competition is open to a work in any medium and all forms and styles are acceptable. Any materials can be used with the exception of anything sharp, dangerous, wet or perishable.

Meroogal's Curator and Manager reserve the right to decline to exhibit any work which, because of its construction (eg, bulk, weight, delicate or dangerous nature) cannot be exhibited safely.

Smaller works are encouraged so the majority of entries can be exhibited in Nowra. Very large works may not be displayed in full due to lack of space.

Works must be clearly labelled with the artist's name, contact details and title of work.

A selection of works will tour to other venues. Having first considered their artistic merit, works that can be readily and safely transported are more likely to be selected.

2D works

Size:

The surface area of the work (it can be any shape) including the frame must not be larger than 1.5 square metres in total in a fixed plane (eg, in a frame or stretcher), or must fold down to 1.5 square metres (eg, fabric or paper).

3D works

Size:

Work must completely fit or fold down into a box measuring a maximum of one cubic metre (1m x 1m x 1m).

Weight:

No heavier than 15kg – the work must be able to be picked up and carried by one person.

Display:

The work should be able to sit on a plinth or stand alone.

A panel of three judges comprising one HHT and one regional representative and one regional artist will decide the winners.

One Bundanon representative will select the winner of the Bundanon scholarship.

Sales of works

If requested by the entrant, works will be offered for sale. Details of prospective buyers will be kept by Meroogal's Curator and Manager and relayed to entrants.

ART-MAKING IDEAS & WORKSHOP

A special art-making and ideas workshop for intending entrants will be held at Meroogal on Saturday 5 May, running from 9.30am till 3.30pm. This will be a great opportunity to focus on the way certain objects act as memory triggers. Invited artist Helen Martin will inspire you to express your memories and ideas using a variety of evocative materials. Meroogal staff will also show objects from the collection that might inspire the development of your ideas related to the theme.
