Visual Overture Magazine is seeking submissions for the Spring 2010 edition. International emerging artists of any field are encouraged to apply. Juror selects 7 artists for feature in publication. Selected artists are presented on two pages of magazine and receive 3 complimentary copies of issue in which they are featured. This is an excellent opportunity for under-represented artists to connect with galleries, curators, and collectors!
Emerging professional artists working in any media 18 years and older may submit to the Visual Overture Magazine juried competition. An emerging professional artist is defined as a person who is not currently enrolled in any undergraduate courses, and is consistently working to establish a career in the visual arts field.
Accepted Genres: Sculpture, Metals, Textiles, Photography, Mixed media, Painting, Drawing, Video art, Digital art, Printmaking, and Installations

Description: Visual Overture Magazine is seeking entries from international emerging artists for publication in the Spring 2010 issue. This is a juried competition in which 7 artists will be selected for feature in the magazine.
What to Submit: 3-6 images/videos per artist
Fees: entry fee of $17 per artist
Seven emerging artists will be selected for publication. Each selected artist will be presented on a two-page spread with images of their work, interview questions, brief artist statement, and contact details.

Wood is one of the earliest known materials used to make dolls because it was easy to carve, sturdy and unbreakable. Most were symbolic and ceremonial figures, often of a religious nature. According to the doll category guidelines set by United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC), the type of doll is determined by the content of the doll's head. Thus, a wood doll
always has a wooden head regardless of the types of materials used in the body construction. With that in mind, we challenge you to create wood dolls and send us your submissions.

The second edition of Botkyrka konsthall’s international artist’s book exhibition Labyrint will open on November 7th in Sweden. The title of the exhibition, Writings and Observations, refers to the artistic practice of writing as a way of seeing, a way of altering the world.
This year’s edition will focus not only on artist’s books, but also text art, and the aspects of writing in contemporary art. A research into writing as a way of thinking will be carried out – how are ideas brought forth through text, and how can the way we read an older work or history per se be changed through text? Labyrint Press will cover shipping costs of returned works. We will not cover insurance of art works.

The second edition of Botkyrka konsthall’s international artist’s book exhibition Labyrint will open on November 7th in Sweden. The title of the exhibition, Writings and Observations, refers to the artistic practice of writing as a way of seeing, a way of altering the world.
This year’s edition will focus not only on artist’s books, but also text art, and the aspects of writing in contemporary art. A research into writing as a way of thinking will be carried out – how are ideas brought forth through text, and how can the way we read an older work or history per se be changed through text? Labyrint will also focus on works with performative aspects such as film manuscripts of artists, and art in relation to text, music and sound.

PUNCH Gallery presents an international juried exhibition taking place December 2009. Located in the Pioneer Square area of downtown Seattle, PUNCH provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure within the Northwest regional art scene.
Artists from any country may submit work in any medium. There is no limit to the number of entries. In addition to traditional 2-D and 3-D works, artists are encouraged to submit work in new media, video, sound, or installation. Complicated installation procedures may require the artist to assist with installation. Members of PUNCH are not eligible to enter.
The juror, Marisa C. Sánchez, will create an exhibition which presents a diverse range of media and concepts from around the world.

Awards
Cash award(s) determined by number of entries will be distributed at the juror’s discretion. Our previous juried exhibition presented cash awards totaling $1,300. Several entrants were also offered additional exhibiton opportunities curated by PUNCH members.

Fees are nonrefundable. Entries must be submitted using the online CaFÉ entry system.
Sales
PUNCH will retain a 30% commission on all artwork sales.
Size Limitation
Work must be able to fit through our front door (81”x40”).
