The Womencenter at Oakland Community College's Orchard Ridge Campus in Farmington Hills announces a call for entries for its nationwide juried women's art exhibit, From Our Perspective. Student submissions are encouraged. Deadline for applications is August 1, 2006. This show is open to all women artists living in the United States. The exhibit will be juried for cash prizes and is open to women artists nationwide. Prizes are as follows: Purchase Prize, up to $250, Best of Show - $300, three Honorable Mentions - $100 each, Presidents Award - $100. Transnational mobility, often compulsory, and continued drastic differences in standards of living have changed the thought of progress, at least in Europe, into a stop-and-go movement between security-oriented persistence and protectionism, and a simultaneous intensification of competition and demands for change. Call for submissions: The Festival of Regions is inviting project proposals from the areas of site-specific art and culture, art in public space, everyday culture, performance and participatory practices for the 2007 festival program.
Who can make a project proposal? Anyone with an idea on the theme: individual artists or artists collaborating in a team, individuals working in the area of culture and society, scientists, initiatives, associations, NGOs or working groups. The project proposal can be submitted in either English or German and should be a maximum of seven pages long. Submission: The project proposal can be sent by mail in 10 copies (Din A4) or by e-mail in the preferred format of a Word or a PDF file up to 2 MB. Additional materials cannot be taken into account.

Creative Residencies at PlatteForum
PlatteForum, a one-of-a-kind arts center in Lower Downtown Denver, is proud to announce the May 5, 2006 deadline for applications to its unique Creative Residency Program.
The program is open to artists in all genres including the visual and performing arts, design arts, new media, installation, filmmaking, writing, book arts and craft/folk arts. Artists can apply as individuals or in collaborative teams. Students may apply but are required to have a teacher or established artist as the lead artist on their project.
Artists apply to use PlatteForum as a studio environment from 4 to 6 weeks, and have access to the studio 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each resident or collaborative team proposes a body of work that will be in part dedicated to creating unique art experiences with youth. Artists receive a modest stipend during their residency.
The youth workshops, defined by the artist, will take place at PlatteFourm. The artist, facilitated by PlatteForum, will collaborate with a select group of underserved youth from DPS schools and/or partner mentoring organizations.
Open studio hours are held for the public to drop in and interact with the artists. An exhibition, performance or presentation will be held at the culmination of the residency, and will include the work of the artist as well as the students who have participated in the workshops.

Art Cloth Symposium
The Textile Center will present a major symposium about art cloth, an area of growing, vital interest in the field of fiber art, July 20-26, 2006. This symposium will explore both the artistic and technical aspects surface design. Renowned art cloth artist Jane Dunnewold will be featured as the keynote speaker, speaking about her philosophy of cloth as art as well as about innovations in art cloth design.Traditional and experimental techniques in surface design will be taught using the Textile Center's state-of-art dye lab, providing a unique hands-on component to this symposium. The majority of workshops will involve hands-on surface design activities in combination with slide presentations and lectures. Workshop presenters include Susan Monday, Ann Johnston, Els van Baarle, Holly Brackmann, as well as Jane Dunnewold. Additionally, many other local and regional artists will present seminars and lead round table discussions throughout the weekend. Presenters at the symposium have also been invited to participate in an "artist trunk show" Saturday evening.

Art Kudos: International Juried Art Competition & Exhibition
Deadline: All entries must be postmarked by May 31, 2006.
Eligibility: Open to all artists age 18 and older. Eligible media include: acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, drawings, printmaking, photography, digital art, sculpture, mixed media, glass, clay, and fiber (no clothing items). No video, film, jewelry, or crafts. All art submitted must be the original work of the applicant, completed without the aid of an instructor. Artwork may not be a copy of another artist's work or a copy of a photograph taken by someone else.

Awards: Exemplary works will be displayed in an online exhibition beginning August 15, 2006. The juror will select works for the following cash awards totaling $2,400: Best of Show - $800; Second Place - $550; Third Place - $350; Award of Distinction - $250; (3) Merit Awards - $150 each.

This exhibition will take place at the Costa Rican- North American Cultural Center in San José, Costa Rica. The objective will be to describe the symbiosis that occur during the working process of both male and female artists in the fields of contemporary textile art and design. The topic can be freely chosen, it is not about a discussion on genre but on the contrary, a visual exhibition about how men and women can benefit from working together, combining efforts within the creation process. In this mutual feedback process, at least one of the two artists should work with textile techniques while the other one can do it either applying textile techniques or selecting some other artistic discipline which adapts and complements the textile one. This means that the textile work can be enhanced by ceramists, jewelers, musicians (with previous coordination), painters and sculptors, etc.
Applications to participate in this Biennale can be submitted by any adult artist from any country in the world. Participation will be subject to acceptance which shall have to be granted by an International Jury which will meet in Miami to survey and check all applications and proposals.
The deadline for the receipt of applications in Miami will be April 28, 2006 and the application fee shall be US $25.00.
