You’re invited to be in the Los Angeles Makery’s exhibit “The Art of Costume Couture.” The Fantastical World of Costume Couture from the artists of Film and Cosplay.

This is a call for wearable art, dipping into the world of fantasy, costume design, and fashion ideas that merge and float between art, fashion, and craftsmanship. In this show we are highlighting the artists behind the scenes.

Artist needs to provide the method of display – dress form, body mannequin or stand with hanger.
There are no strict limits on the size of the artworks, but please contact us if the works are larger than 5' across.

No fee to submit, 30% commission on any sales.

- Artwork must be original to the maker. No copyright violations!
- No hardcore pornographic or uncensored explicit images, no blood, torture, violence, or cruelty depicted.

The 2024 Smithsonian Craft2Wear Show is an exhibition and sale of wearable contemporary American craft and design held annually in Washington DC at the National Building Museum. Unlike the juried Smithsonian Craft Show presented each Spring, Craft2Wear artists will be selected by members of the Smithsonian Women’s Committee (SWC), which produces the Craft2Wear show.

ELIGIBILITY
The Smithsonian Craft2Wear Show is committed to presenting thoughtful, original, and skilled wearable American craft and design. The Show is looking for artists who produce one-of-a-kind or limited edition items that have been conceived and perfected by the artist and created in the artist’s studio.  All work submitted to the Smithsonian Craft2Wear Show must be created and made in the United States.

The SWC is seeking a full range of wearables and accessories.

Wearable Art - Artwork that is predominately clothing made from any materials.
Wearable Accessories - Artwork which is predominately scarves, shawls, shoes, handbags, belts, socks, gloves and/or hats made from any materials.
Jewelry - Artwork, which is jewelry, tie tacks, and/or cufflinks made from any materials.

The Smithsonian Craft2Wear Show encourages artists to continue to grow and stretch the limits of their work.  We recognize that new technologies are increasingly helpful in this process, so it is acceptable to submit work in which CAD/CAM and other industrial techniques such as 3-D printing tools are used in the creative process.

The use of repurposed materials, including found objects and sustainable practices, should be included in the Artist’s Statement, if applicable.

Only U.S. residents who make their work in the U.S. are eligible to apply.

The MCBA Prize, presented by Minnesota Center for Book Arts, honors excellence in new work from across the dynamic spectrum of book art. The international competition will culminate in an exhibition in MCBA’s Main Gallery of 20–30 selected semi-finalists and a live virtual event revealing the winner.

Forms, processes, traditions and approaches are open. Work may include unique book objects, altered books, graphic novels, ‘zines, concrete poetry, conceptual, visual and literary works. Processes may include any printing or printmaking methods such as photo-mechanical, hand-worked, analog/digital, relief printmaking, letterpress, intaglio, and screen-printing, as well as hand-lettering. Works may be in edition or unique. The finished work can depart from a bound book format to engage metaphors of the book in sculpture or installation. Work can be created collaboratively, but ultimately must result from an artist or artists’ vision and active participation.

Only book projects completed between June 2022 and May 31, 2024 are eligible.

AWARDS: One winner will receive a $2,000 cash prize, four finalists will each receive a $500 cash prize, and all entries will be published here on our prize site.

APPLICATION FEE: $35. An artist may submit more than one application for different book projects, but each application is a separate $35 fee.

Hello Readers and Subscribers:

It is the middle of April already. Where does the time go?

This is just a quick message to assure everyone that the FACFE Deadlines calendar will be repopulated IN FULL soon. We are so grateful to everyone who reached out after the debacle. THEME
Abstract art is like breaking the rules of traditional art—it doesn't try to show things as they are in real life. This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work that has been selected for previous exhibits with Art Fluent will not be considered.

RULES
Open to ALL fine art mediums (oil, acrylic, water media, pastel, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, sculpture, fiber, wood, ceramics, film/ video, digital art). AI will not be accepted. Diptychs and triptychs should be uploaded as a single image.

Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible.

Through the state of Florida's Art in State Buildings program (ASB) Program, Florida State University (FSU) seeks proposals for existing or new 2D or 3D public art to be installed permanently inside or on the grounds of the Interdisciplinary Research and Commercialization Building (IRCB) currently under construction.

Project Overview: The IRCB is a $125 million facility that will serve as a collaborative space for researchers from a variety of fields focused on creating and advancing new materials. The IRCB will accommodate faculty research needs and collaborative groups working in the broader areas of biomedical, energy, material science, quantum science, engineering, and nanoscience.

Eligibility: The call is open to all professional 2D and 3D artists who are residents of the 50 States and the District of Columbia and working in any medium. Artists must meet at least two (2) of the following criteria to have their proposal presented to the Art Selection Committee.

• the artist has completed other public commissions on a similar scale
• the artist has received awards, grants or fellowships
• the artist's works are included in private, public, corporate or museum collections
• the artist has participated in exhibitions at major museums or galleries

The Committee is interested in reviewing submissions of existing artworks available for purchase. They are also interested in viewing examples of an artist’s previous work, available or not, with a view toward commissioning site-specific work for one or more of these sites.

Artists interested in being considered for a commission should submit images of past work similar to what they might create for this facility along with a brief proposal describing a potential new work for this project along with estimated costs and timelines.

The Committee is open to any style, subject matter, or theme that is appropriate for this public space and commensurate with its intended use as outlined in this call.

Budget: The total budget available for this project is $100,000

Finalists will receive a $2,000 honorarium to create and submit a detailed, finalized proposal. The total amount for finalist honorariums will not exceed $10,000.

The remaining $90,000 will be divided among up to three selected artists whose proposals address any or all of the three identified artwork Sites.

Artists, designers and researchers mainly working in the medium of Paper and/or Textile art are invited to respond to the OPEN CALL for participation in the International Paper & Textile Biennial 2024. The Biennale offers artists a unique opportunity to present their recent work as well as an exceptional opportunity to reach and network with a new audience.

The IPTB2024 is supported by an integrated press and media campaign with a focus on attracting both domestic and foreign interest and participation. Kunststichting Perspektief vzw, together with the participating artists, is responsible for the high quality, presentation and promotion of these crafts.

The Cultural Community Center of Haacht ( 850 m² surface - 3 levels) it is the place in Belgium to discover contemporary crafts/art, offering collectors, gallery owners and the general public the opportunity to meet artists from different countries in an great architectural environment. Thanks to a rigorous selection procedure the Art Foundation ensured that only the best work is on show thus confirming its commitment to promote excellence art.          

PARTICIPATION
No registration fee.

All applicants must have reached the age of 18 - there are no country or nationality restrictions. Important: Participation in the International Biennale is only possible on an individual basis - participation by galleries or sales agents is excluded. The number of works present in the Biennial per artist will be determined at selection by the committee.

The works must be available for the entire exhibition period and may not be removed from the spaces. There are no restrictions on the shape or weight of the work. The work must have been made within 24 months prior to October 1st, 2024.

Print London invites Canadian-based professional artists to submit up to 4 miniature prints for a juried exhibition. The Jury will select prints to be exhibited and prize winners.

Franklin Furnace’s mission is to present, preserve, interpret, educate, and advocate on behalf of avant-garde art, especially forms that may be vulnerable due to institutional neglect, cultural bias, ephemerality, or politically unpopular content, the 2024 XENO Prize for Artists' Books, named in honor of xenophiles, people who appreciate all people and cultures.

The XENO PRIZE for Artists' Books will be selected from submissions to a Call for Proposals, to receive $5000 to publish one artist's book on the topic of book banning/burning in an edition of at least 100 copies.

Independent artist jurors will make the selections and the award will be announced in September 2024.

Fiberart International 2025 seeks to exhibit the best of contemporary art and invites submissions that reflect a wide range of works related to the fiber medium. The exhibition is recognized around the world as a benchmark that documents trends and innovations in the field. The goal of the exhibition is to include innovative work rooted in traditional fiber materials, structure, processes and history, as well as art that explores unexpected relationships between fiber and other creative disciplines. 

Fiberart International 2025 will feature works by established and emerging artists and will be open to the public, with artwork located at both Contemporary Craft and Brew House Arts.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to exceptionally talented artists who are in the early, mid or late stages of their career and reside in the United States or abroad.

  • Entries must be original work completed after July 1, 2023.
  • All work must be either fiber in content or executed in a fiber technique. Artists must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Work must be original in concept and design and not be the result of a class or workshop or in a degree granting institution.
  • Collaborative works will be considered as a single entry.
  • Artists submitting both collaborative and individual works must apply separately. The collaborative team will be considered as a single applicant.
  • Work must not exceed 12 feet in height or width.
  • Artists whose installation artwork is selected must either be available.


AWARD
Contemporary Craft will present a $5,000 cash award.

SALES
All works must be for sale. Contemporary Craft/Brew House Art receives a 50% commission on artworks sold. Commissions received through CC sales help support the free admission, education and community outreach programs of the nonprofit organization.

College of the Sequoias Gallery is now accepting applications for the Fall 2024 – Spring 2026 season. Open to International, National, and Regional Artists. Free to Apply. Accepting applications in all media with exception to video and performance.

The College of the Sequoias gallery schedules exhibitions in a two-year cycle, ranging in solo and group exhibitions, as well as an annual student show each spring. The COS Art Gallery now has two exhibition spaces, the COS ART GALLERY and LRC GALLERY, one in the art department building (one-month exhibitions) and one in our library (four-month exhibitions). As a non-profit gallery, it is supervised by faculty/staff and trained student docents. The gallery provides insurance coverage for artwork while on our campus, publicity and a reception for the artist. However our budget does not allow for shipping expenses of artwork or storage of works between exhibitions. We have limited funds available to offer artists a modest stipend to travel to our campus to attend the reception and/or conduct an artist talk and/or demonstrations during their time at our campus or via Zoom. While the gallery is primarily educational in focus, we are happy to make sales for the artist, with 20% from the sale to be donated to the COS Art Gallery.

Open and free to the public, COS Art Gallery seeks to inspire and heighten community awareness and appreciation for the arts and plays a critical role in the mission of the college.

College of the Sequoias Gallery is now accepting applications for the Fall 2024 – Spring 2026 season. Open to Community Projects. Free to Apply. Accepting applications in all media with exception to video and performance.

The College of the Sequoias gallery schedules exhibitions in a two-year cycle, ranging in solo and group exhibitions, as well as an annual student show each spring. The COS Art Gallery now has two exhibition spaces, the COS ART GALLERY and LRC GALLERY, one in the art department building (one-month exhibitions) and one in our library (four-month exhibitions). As a non-profit gallery, it is supervised by faculty/staff and trained student docents. The gallery provides insurance coverage for artwork while on our campus, publicity and a reception for the artist. However our budget does not allow for shipping expenses of artwork or storage of works between exhibitions. We have limited funds available to offer artists a modest stipend to travel to our campus to attend the reception and/or conduct an artist talk and/or demonstrations during their time at our campus or via Zoom. While the gallery is primarily educational in focus, we are happy to make sales for the artist, with 20% from the sale to be donated to the COS Art Gallery.

Open and free to the public, COS Art Gallery seeks to inspire and heighten community awareness and appreciation for the arts and plays a critical role in the mission of the college.

Craft Ontario is currently seeking proposals for solo and two-person exhibitions to take place in the Craft Ontario Gallery, 1106 Queen St West, Toronto, in the 2025 calendar year.

Craft Ontario is devoted to the support, advocacy and promotion of Ontario craft and craft artists. Our services and programs provide support for craft artists at all levels of their careers from emerging to established, while raising awareness of, providing access to, and growing appreciation for their work.

Craft Ontario welcomes submissions in all craft media by artists at any stage of their career (emerging, mid or established). Submissions of both existing work and projects that have not yet been realized will be considered.

Craft Ontario provides curatorial support, installation assistance, insurance, and pays artist fees in line with CARFAC (Canadian Artists’ Representation / Le Front des artistes canadiens) guidelines.

CONDITIONS
You no longer need a Craft Professional Membership to apply for an exhibition at Craft Ontario. Non-members will need to pay a $10 Admin Fee to apply and, if your exhibition application is successful, you (and your co applicant, if applicable) will be required to purchase a Maker Membership prior to your exhibition.

EXHIBITION INFORMATION
The Exhibitor will be responsible for shipping or delivering the work to the Gallery and for insuring the work while in transit.
Craft Ontario will insure all items for theft and damage while on the Gallery premises.
Any work included in the exhibition that is available for sale (at the artist’s discretion) will be sold at Craft Ontario’s usual consignment split of 50%.
Selected artists will receive an artist fee in line with CARFAC (Canadian Artists’ Representation / Le Front des artistes canadiens) guidelines.

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen mission is to create opportunities for traditional and contemporary artisans, craft enthusiasts, and collectors through education, advocacy and community. The Fine Craft Fair is open to artists from across the country working in both Fine Art and Fine Craft. The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center is a new venue for the PA Guild. PGC’s Fall Fine Craft Fair features full & half booth spaces for up to 90 artists, many of whom do not exhibit at outdoor venues. Membership in the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen is not required to exhibit or to apply. The variety of quality fine art & craft mediums will entice shoppers who are looking for cutting edge, contemporary and upscale home furnishings, jewelry and accoutrements.

Master Artisans of the PGC are eligible for consideration by the Floor Jury for monetary Benchmark Awards.

Eligibility:
Submissions representing the finest quality original FINE ART AND FINE CRAFT are welcome.

You are not required to be a Pennsylvania resident to participate in PGC Fine Craft Fairs.

Membership in the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen is not required to exhibit or to apply, but non-members will pay an additional $50 for their booth.
You may purchase or renew membership while paying for your application.

Each Fine Craft Fair is juried to offer our collectors a broad array of media, best quality fine craft, and variety of styles and voices.

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen focus is on work made by hand by individual craftspeople. Works created using commercial production methods, technological advancements, or automation used solely for high volume are not permissible at our Fine Craft Fairs.

Wild about Art at the Toledo Zoo! is a uniquely wild, two-day art fair taking place on our beautiful Zoo grounds, features local and regional artists with various mediums on display for thousands of visitors. We are seeking creative artists and skilled makers to take part in Wild about Art. This event will include entertainment, hands-on activities and of course animals.


GENERAL INFORMATION

Mediums permitted: Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Glass, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Metal Working, Photography, Printmaking/Graphics, Sculpture, Textiles and Wood. Work does not have to be animal related.

The Zoo is a family-friendly environment and certain subject matters, including but not limited to nudity and offensive language and symbols, will not be accepted. The Zoo reserves the right to exclude and/or remove pieces at their sole discretion.

We won't even try to sugarcoat this so here it is.....

We were in the process of completing some changes to the FACFE DEADLINES Calendar but accidentally DELETED it. Yes, it is GONE!! Imagine our horror! Years and years of work just vanished and we can't get it back. However, we can re-do the year 2023 and everything posted so far in 2024.

Alberta Craft is excited to announce our call for entry for the upcoming Feature Gallery Exhibition Contemporary Weaving.

The traditions of weaving run deep and encompass many different materials and forms. Cultures from around the globe have incorporated woven objects into daily life as functional and expressive objects such as baskets, screens, cloth, and carpets. We are seeking contemporary examples of this ancient method of making. Your submission may draw on traditional inspiration or be experimental in technique or material. Submissions are not limited to traditional fibre media; we encourage artists working across all craft disciplines to apply.

Please note: Alberta Craft does not exhibit 2D works such as photographs, paintings, prints, illustration, or drawings.

Artists who are current Alberta residents, and Canadian residents outside of Alberta who hold an Alberta Craft membership are eligible to apply.  

All works must be for sale. Current general, professional, emeritus and student member artists receive 60% artist commission, non-members will receive 50% commission.

The Taoyuan International Art Award aims to cultivate talent in contemporary art and create a strong foundation for the research and creation of contemporary art, as well as to expand global perspectives, strengthen international exchanges, and encourage the diversified development of art practices.

Eligibility:
A. Artists may participate as an individual or a group. There are no limits on nationality. Simultaneous registrations in both the individual and group categories are prohibited. However, this restriction does not apply to those participating as working members of other teams.
B. Works must be new pieces presented to the public for the first time and have never entered government-organized competitions in Taiwan.

Entries:
1. Submitted entries are not limited in material, category, or size.
The space for an individual exhibit is in principle no larger than 600x600x250cm. Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts (TMoFA) will provide the finalized dimensions upon the announcement of the selected artists. The TMoFA reserves the right to adjust the display space according to the exhibition space planning.
2. Each individual/group is limited to registering one piece (or set) of work. Once registration is confirmed, changes are not allowed.
3. Works that pass the preliminary review must be displayed during the secondary review according to the exhibition plan submitted at registration.

Awards:
  • Grand Prize *1: A prize of NT$600,000, one trophy, one award certificate, and five albums.
  • Honorable Mention *3: A prize of NT$200,000, one trophy, one award certificate, and five albums.
  • Sojourn Award *1: A subsidy of NT$350,000 for a tour abroad is offered to a Taiwanese participant, one trophy, one award certificate, and three albums. The awardee is obliged to complete his/her sojourn within 2 years after the end of the exhibition. After returning to Taiwan, the awardee shall present a written report (the electronic copy will be published online) and certificates of flight ticket issuance.
  • Selected Award: One award certificate and three albums.
*Taxes are included in the aforementioned amounts pursuant to the relevant regulations governing taxes in Taiwan.
*Please be advised that the actual amounts of the prizes are subject to the budget approved by Taoyuan City Council.

The Pacific States Biennial North American printmaking exhibition is open to all artists 18 years or older presently residing anywhere on the North American continent, its islands, and outlying US territories. Entries from Mexico and Canada are welcome.

This premier Hawaiʻi biennial exhibition is hosted in conjunction with the Campus Center Gallery with support from the Student Activities Council. The PSBN will provide a color exhibition catalog for participating artists and online at: hilo.hawaii.edu/depts/art/gallery

Specifications
Original work in all printmaking media and digital/traditional hybrid prints are eligible. No photography or digital reproductions of original works will be accepted. Works must be completed within the last 2 years. UH Hilo will mat and frame the works selected for the exhibition. The paper size dimension for submitted work must not exceed 30" x 40" or it cannot be framed/exhibited.

Awards
First place: Artist residency at the University of Hawaii at Hilo to cover travel, lodging, per diem, and honorarium.
Additional purchase awards will be selected from the exhibition.
