MEXICAN TEXTILES INSTRUCTIONAL ARTIST RESIDENCY
This is a unique production residency that includes 3 weeks of master instruction (classes of 9 hours per week) in creating Mexican textiles. Residents learn how to weave using the traditional back-strap loom, how to assemble it, and basic weaving techniques; or they learn Mexican embroidery techniques, for which we offer instruction in the following: cross stitching, chain stitching, shading, and pepenado hilván. Each technique is offered separately as a 3-week program. Artists wishing to do both weaving and embroidery courses may apply for two consecutive residencies totaling 6 weeks.
RESIDENCY GUIDELINES
⦁ Selection decisions are based on artistic work and proposed project. Candidates at all stages of their careers (emerging and established) must demonstrate a clear sense of potential.
⦁ Our pool of applicants and residents is diverse in all aspects.
⦁ Our residency programs are competitive opportunities for artists and researchers to pursue their own work, free of pressure (especially work that in their particular circumstances would normally be difficult to produce).

SUBMISSION- A $25.00 fee is charged for submitting five ORIGINAL works of paintings, mixed media, fabric art (wall hung), photography, drawings, pastels, relief works (wall hung), small free standing sculpture, encaustics, lightweight ceiling hanging art, digital works, and printmaking. Works must be less than 35 lbs. each, unless otherwise stated or with special permission.
SALE of ARTWORK- All accepted works must be for sale during the show and must remain on exhibit for the entire duration of the show. The only exception is when a gallery customer wants to buy a work and is sold. The artist is allowed to present another work of the same size for the remainder of the show. The Gallery is responsible for all sales, including collecting sales tax, and will retain a 35% commission from the sale of artwork. Artist payments will be made promptly after the closing of a show either by PayPal or by Gallery check.
Meridian Street Gallery, LLC features an eclectic mix of fine art including printmaking, paintings, mixed media, fabric art, photography, and installations created by artists nationally. Art is displayed on the beautiful marble walls in the lobby of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce Building and on the 8th floor gallery.

Several companies and organizations are partnering with event, including Beadaholique, Better Homes and Gardens, BlogHer, Chronicle Books, the Craft and Hobby Association, Creativebug, Deco Arts, FaveCrafts, The Felt Store, MakersKit, Red Heart Yarn, Snap Conference and the Society of Decorative Painters.
ELIGIBILITY: Creators must be U.S. based. If they are under 18, entrants must get permission from a parent to enter.
DETAILS: Crafters can enter their best projects online at TheCraftys.com and fans can nominate their favorite makers through October 25, 2015. Entry categories include fashion, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, home décor, jewelry-making and edible crafts. The exhibition will showcase UK creativity by artists facing barriers to the art world for reasons including health, disability or social circumstance, and who have submitted their work through the Outside In website. The works selected through this open call out will be displayed alongside pieces by historically renowned and invited contemporary outsider and self-taught artists. This major exhibition will launch at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, the home of Outside In, from 12 March - 12 June 2016, and will be followed by a national tour.
Twenty artists will be chosen by a selection panel which will include representatives from Outside In, Craftspace, an Outside In Award Winner, a craft maker, a representative from the Outsider Art sector and Laura Hamilton, co-curator of Outsider Craft.
Submissions for the open call out are invited from UK based artists whose work is three or two dimensional and centres around craft processes. The term ‘craft’ covers: ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery, leather, mechanical objects, metalwork, mixed media, textiles and forms of making linked to folk traditions. Materials used can include fabric, metal, clay, wood, paper, mixed media, found and recycled materials. Craft can be used to describe work that focus on materials, processes and the handmade; or perhaps work that unites technical skill and imagination resulting in a physical object. We would welcome submissions from anyone who considers their work to be a form of craft.
Please note that paintings, drawings, photographs and prints are not eligible for submission.

EXHIBITION CONCEPT
Natural wonders, scenic overlooks, roadside attractions, iron hand pumps that gush cold water, sweet-corn stands at the height of summer, fiberglass cows--Wisconsin waysides are more than just places of respite for weary travelers. Mixes of memory and regional identity, they are indicators that we are home, or almost there.
Based on the Wisconsin term for roadside rest stops familiar to travelers, WAYSIDES celebrates the history and natural landscape of our state and is meant to inspire works that contain feelings of nostalgia, personal memories, and cultural references.
This call invites all artists--professional or avocational--to submit an original, two- or three-dimensional work inspired, literally or metaphorically, by the idea of Wisconsin waysides. As part of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s upcoming series, ON WISCONSIN, this exhibition is open to all those who call Wisconsin “home.”
Total dimensions of the work may not exceed 12 x 12 x 12 inches.
ENTRY PROCESS
All entries must first be submitted to eschlemowitz@jmkac.org
Entries require a completed entry form, image of the work, and brief description of how the work meets the exhibition concept.
All entries submitted by the cutoff date will be juried.
Selected artists will be notified via email and asked to ship or deliver work to the Arts Center.

EXHIBITION CONCEPT
Natural wonders, scenic overlooks, roadside attractions, iron hand pumps that gush cold water, sweet-corn stands at the height of summer, fiberglass cows--Wisconsin waysides are more than just places of respite for weary travelers. Mixes of memory and regional identity, they are indicators that we are home, or almost there.
Based on the Wisconsin term for roadside rest stops familiar to travelers, WAYSIDES celebrates the history and natural landscape of our state and is meant to inspire works that contain feelings of nostalgia, personal memories, and cultural references.
This call invites all artists--professional or avocational--to submit an original, two- or three-dimensional work inspired, literally or metaphorically, by the idea of Wisconsin waysides. As part of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s upcoming series, ON WISCONSIN, this exhibition is open to all those who call Wisconsin “home.”
Total dimensions of the work may not exceed 12 x 12 x 12 inches.
ENTRY PROCESS
All entries must first be submitted to eschlemowitz@jmkac.org
Entries require a completed entry form, image of the work, and brief description of how the work meets the exhibition concept.
All entries submitted by the cutoff date will be juried.
Selected artists will be notified via email and asked to ship or deliver work to the Arts Center.

The theme for this exhibition welcomes artists who delve into subjects, themes, and motifs that have to do with our planet. Contemporary original 2D and 3D work in any media, including paintings, prints, drawings, photography, sculpture, and fine craft produced within the last two years is appropriate. 2D work should not exceed 36 inches in the longest dimension. 3D work is limited to 24 inches in the longest dimension and not more than 60 pounds for the whole piece. The exhibition is open to artists living in the United States over the age of 18.

The Beisinghoff Printmaking Residency is a four-week opportunity that allows artists to work in a beautiful printmaking studio in Diemelstadt-Rhoden, Germany. Two artists will be chosen to work at Atelierhaus Beisinghoff, less than an hour away from Kassel, Germany.
This opportunity affords artists more than just studio time. Images, thoughts, and words from diverse viewpoints come together when artists from different continents converge at Atelierhaus. Barbara Beisinghoff also invites local press for an artists’ presentation during the residency.
Accommodation is free of charge and provides artists with an apartment, shared bath, library, kitchen, living room, garden, and sewing/ironing room. The resident pays for travel costs, food, and materials. Artists prepare lunch together.
Atelierhaus Beisinghoff offers access to:
•Letterpress studio with Korrex flatbed press, Garamond, Helvetica, Futura, Wallau, and some Bodoni Antiqua typefaces

Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century is an international juried competition hosted annually by the Art Center of Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon, with a focus on the time-honored tradition of the nude human figure, an art form that continues to inspire and challenge many artists today as one of the most potentially rewarding subjects to explore.
Eligibility: Au Naturel is an international juried competition open to all artists working in any two dimensional drawing, painting, and printmaking media with a focus on the nude human figure as subject matter in any form ranging from representational to abstract, and in which the handmade mark is employed as the primary means of image-making.
Due to the special focus of this exhibit, photography is not eligible.
Entrants must be 18 years or older. Submitted artwork must have been executed in the last three years and must be available for the duration of the exhibit. Any artwork reproduced by photo mechanical processes (including giclée prints) will not be accepted.

Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century is an international juried competition hosted annually by the Art Center of Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon, with a focus on the time-honored tradition of the nude human figure, an art form that continues to inspire and challenge many artists today as one of the most potentially rewarding subjects to explore.
Eligibility: Au Naturel is an international juried competition open to all artists working in any two dimensional drawing, painting, and printmaking media with a focus on the nude human figure as subject matter in any form ranging from representational to abstract, and in which the handmade mark is employed as the primary means of image-making.
Due to the special focus of this exhibit, photography is not eligible.
Entrants must be 18 years or older. Submitted artwork must have been executed in the last three years and must be available for the duration of the exhibit. Any artwork reproduced by photo mechanical processes (including giclée prints) will not be accepted.

Art Omi invites artists from every continent, representing a wide diversity of artistic styles and practices, to gather in rural New York State to experiment, collaborate and share ideas. During four weeks each June - July, concentrated time for creative work is balanced with the stimulation of cultural exchange and critical appraisal. Artists whose work is interdisciplinary should read the descriptions of each of our residency programs to decide which one fits their practice.
Artists are provided with a private studio, shared living quarters, and meals at no cost, but are responsible for their travel and material expenses. Each session, a distinguished critic/curator is invited to participate as Critic-in-Residence, who leads discussions and makes individual studio visits. The Critic in Residence is on campus for the entire duration of the program. In addition, a former Critic in Residence is invited to be Critic Emeritus for the first week of residency.
The first week of the residency, artists have the opportunity to work with a master printmaker to produce an edition of monotypes. High quality material is provided.
Our Visitors Program enables residents to have conversations with many visiting art critics, gallery owners and prominent artists. Direct engagement with the New York City art world is unmatched by similar residency programs.
The residency culminates with Open Studio Day, during which hundreds of professionals, art lovers, neighbors and friends view work, ask questions and engage with the artists.

We accept applications, however, from PhD students or from professional artists, with at least 3 years of professional experience, currently enrolled in a master degree other than in the Arts. - Entry is open to all textile artists. International entries are welcome. Non-Australian artists must provide completed paperwork and payment (if any) to satisfy customs requirements.
- Artworks must address the title theme – a matter of time.
- Entries may be any kind of stitched textile or fibre art but each work must be sturdy enough to travel without special requirements. Works that have significant 3 dimensional features, require special hanging apparatus, or are delicate or require special handling will not be selected.
- Entries must measure 100x40cm finished (LxW, vertical banner format). A 1cm variation in any direction is permitted.
- Entries must include both a hanging sleeve and velcro strips in accordance with the curator’s directions.
- Only one textile work will be selected per entrant, although artists may enter more than one work.
- The work must be an original design in which no other person holds copyright. All work must be the result of independent effort and must not be the product of an instructional setting in which another artist has provided guidance or assistance.
- Artwork that differs from the submitted images will not be accepted.
