A Fine Art Exhibit

Eligibility:
  • Open to all artists 18 and over residing in the state of Colorado.
  • Any 2 or 3 dimensional fine art pieces that are created from clay, wood, or fibers. All art work must be original to the artist.
  • Maximum size for fiber pieces is 72 inches in either length or width.
  • The Aar River Gallery reserves the right to refuse any art work that does not comply with requirements stated in this prospectus.
  • In case of question, the juror’s decision will be final.
  • All work displayed must remain for the duration of the exhibit.


Entry Fees: Up to 4 entries $35 (non-refundable)

What is black, white and red all over? A zebra with sunburn! A newspaper. A vampire having a midnight snack.

Some Things Looming fall 2012 challenge invites you to solve this visual and verbal conundrum in your own unique but fiber oriented way. Whether this powerful group of hues takes your mind to emotions, animals, interior design, or fashion, etc., they regularly produce a bold visual reaction. So embrace the black-white-red challenge, person, or idea in your life and let fiber arts be the language through which we read it.

RULES for ENTRY (truncated)

 All work must be original, one-of-a-kind, made by the artist submitting the entry.
 Artists may submit up to a maximum of three works, completed within the last three years, to be in the exhibition. Due to space restrictions, 2-D work must be 40"x 40" or less, 3-D work on pedestals no larger than 18" x18"x 18". Freestanding works will be accepted. No large installations can be considered. Yardage is acceptable.
 Entry Fee of $25  You may submit up to 3 images per works submitted. (Max 3 works x 3 images = max 9 total images)
 Submit general artist Statement and a 100 word (or less) write up for each work submitted (for catalog and promo).

SELECTION OF ARTWORK

Entries will be selected by some things looming based on their quality and relevance to the goal/theme of the exhibit. Unusual, experimental, and tradi-tional fiber work is all good. Please be certain that it is quality-prepared for exhibit, completed within the last three years, and have relevance to the theme.

Selected artists are responsible for costs of shipping their work to and from the gallery. Notifications will be sent out August 11, 2012.

The Escondido Arts Partnership will present their third juried Fiber & Book Art exhibition. Fiber & Book Artists working in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington are encouraged to submit work to the show. Fiber work can include paper, felt, fabric, yarn, cloth, plant or other organic materials. 75% of the piece should be fiber. The Escondido Municipal Gallery is located in the beautiful downtown Escondido historic district. September is Arts Month in San Diego region.

AWARDS
Cash awards will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

ELIGIBILITY
You may enter Fiber & Book Art if: You are submitting your original handmade fiber work.

ENTRY FEE
The entry fee is $30.00 ($20.00 for EAP members) for one or $40.00
($30.00 for EAP members) for two pieces and is non-refundable. Up to two (2) pieces may be accepted into the exhibition.

*Please mail a CD with jpg images of the 1 or 2 pieces you would like to submit for the show to the gallery to be received by July 21st, 2012. CD should include an image of the entire piece as well as a close-up. CD’s will not be returned. Clearly label each image with the artist’s name and the titles of the pieces. Do not send in the actual piece.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK
Accepted artwork must be delivered in person or be received by mail (w/return address, postage, and box) by the receiving dates.

RECEIVING DATE FOR ENTRIES ON CD: Saturday, July 21, 2012

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE/NON-ACCEPTANCE
Artists will not be notified by mail or email regarding the acceptance/non-acceptance of their work, including notification of awards. A list of accepted work will be posted on our website, www.escondidoarts.org/exhibition.htm by Aug. 1st.
All decisions by the juror will be final.

COMMISSION
Sales of exhibited works are strongly encouraged. There will be a 40% commission on any works sold out of the exhibition.
