Fabricated: An Exhibition of Wearable Art

Deadline: December 3, 2012 by 6:00 pm (ONLINE), (RECEIVE) or (HAND DELIVERY)

Fabricated: An Exhibition of Wearable Art
Target Gallery
Torpedo Factory Art Center

Alexandria, VA
February 2, 2013 to March 3, 2013

Fabricated is an all-media exhibition featuring “wearable art," which refers to individually designed pieces of handmade clothing or jewelry created as fine or expressive art. While the making of any article of clothing or other wearable object typically involves aesthetic considerations, the term wearable art implies that the work is intended to be accepted as a serious and unique artistic creation or statement. It is open to all artists nationally and internationally.

A non-refundable $35 entry fee includes submission for 3 pieces of artwork - each work may include one image along with only one detail image per work. $10 for each additional entry over the initial three.

Limitations
Work should be less than 15 feet overall (height + width + length), with no one dimension measuring more than 7 feet. Final measurements must be inclusive of frame, if applicable. Weight may not exceed 150 pounds. All entries must have been conceived and created by the artist submitting the work and must have been created within the last 5 years. All work selected must be ready for exhibit: 2D work must be framed with secure hanging devices; 3D work must be suitably prepared with instructions for installation. The gallery reserves the right to reject work that differs from submitted images.

Juror: Rachel Timmins

OHIO©ENTRIC: All-Ohio Juried Exhibition

Deadline: December 3, 2011 (RECEIVE)

OHIO©ENTRIC: All-Ohio Juried Exhibition
City Center Gallery

Columbus, Ohio
February 18, 2012 - March 24, 2012

In honor of the Columbus Bicentennial, City Center Gallery hosts its first juried exhibition: OHIO©ENTRIC. From February 18 to March 24, 2012, City Center will transform into a showcase of artists from all over Ohio, past and present.

Any current or former Ohio resident may submit his/her artwork by Saturday, December 3, 2011. There is no entrance fee, and up to three works may be submitted. All forms of artwork are accepted.

While City Center typically focuses on the Columbus community, we are excited to include artists from all over Ohio in celebration of the capital city's 200th anniversary. Please note that OHIO©ENTRIC is not a Columbus-themed exhibition. We encourage artists to submit works that represent their own individual interests; in collaboration, participating artists' works will create a momentary composite of Ohio's unique, collective reflection.

While no grants will be given to accepted artists for the juried exhibition, a guest juror will select the final prizewinners for awards of:

First prize: $350
Second prize: $100
Third prize: $50

Cape Craft and Design Institute: 2011 Handmade Collection

Deadline: 3 December 2010 at 3:30 p.m. (ONLINE)

2011 Handmade Collection
Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI)

East City, Cape Town
South Africa

The Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) has called for entries for its prestigious 2011 Handmade Collection, which will showcase the top 100 handmade products in the Western Cape.

The exhibition will launch at the iconic Design Indaba Expo in February 2011. Thereafter it will show at conferences, exhibitions and creative venues, in agreement with the CCDI, for a year. The exhibition is professionally styled and complemented by a glossy full colour catalogue.

Craft producers work in a variety of media such as ceramics, beads, metal, leather, wood, wax and more. Last year’s collection, for example, included consistently beautiful and interesting items ranging from a copper wire lamp incorporating negative film strips, to a wire truck modelled on international long-haul vehicles, and a tiered floral chandelier made from recycled milk bottles.

The CCDI Handmade Collection is not a competition-- there is no prize money involved and there are no winners. It is a selection of the very best of Western Cape Handmade objects (craft) into a COLLECTION.

Craft producers may choose their own media, which could include ceramics, beads, metal, leather, wood, wax and more. There’s plenty of scope to test your creative limits, whatever your favourite materials and techniques may be.

Final selection will be made by a curator panel representing various arts, culture and media institutions.

Entry forms for the 2011 Handmade Collection may be collected from the CCDI or downloaded from its website. An object may not exceed 1×1x1m and the final choice will be made by a selection panel representing various arts, culture and media institutions.

The deadline for entry of display items by photograph is Friday 3 December 2010 at 15:30.
