The CAC Annual Juried Show is the Contemporary Arts Center’s opportunity to expose artists working in contemporary visual arts to a wide audience. This exhibition is a prominent showcase in the Southern Nevada region and highlights the exceptional work of national and international emerging artists in all media.

ELIGIBILITY
National and international artists 16 years and older may submit a maximum of five works completed within the last two years and not exhibited in a previous CAC exhibition.

JUROR
Mat Gleason is a Los Angeles art critic, curator, commentator and writer for The Huffington Post, and publisher of Coagula Art Journal, which he founded in 1992.

AWARDS
Over $3,000 in awards money is available to the juror to present to artists.

ENTRY FEE
Members of the CAC may enter two pieces for $20, plus an additional $5 per piece, up to five pieces total. Non-members may enter two pieces for $30, plus an additional $10 per piece, up to five pieces total. Memberships start at $25 per year.

SALES
The Contemporary Arts Center receives a 30% commission from all works of art designated for sale. Clark County sales tax is 8.1%.

Artists are invited to submit proposals for solo or group exhibitions of their work for the 2012-2013 Season (Sept. 2012 - Aug. 2013) of the Ketchikan Area Arts & Humanities Council’s Main Street Gallery.

Curators are invited to submit proposals to curate a group exhibit based on unique themes or genres.

In evaluating proposals, the Gallery Review Panel shows preference for proposals by emerging and established local artists, group displays by students or community artists, and curators who propose exhibits that engage and challenge artists and viewers. Preference will be given to artists who have not shown in the gallery in the past two years. Artists and curators are encouraged to give a public demonstration, lecture or slideshow at the Main Street Gallery while their exhibit is on display.

Proposals are recommended by the Review Panel to the Gallery Committee and approved by the KAAHC Board of Directors. The Gallery season is September through August, excluding December, February, and August. If you have a particular exhibit month in mind, please indicate this in your cover letter and the Gallery Committee will try to accomodate you.

Exhibits open on the first Friday of each month and close on the last Friday of their month; KAAHC receives 25% of all sales.

Artists and curators selected to exhibit at the Main Street Gallery are required to be KAAHC members. Please be aware that the gallery is a multi-use space and is used for various community gatherings- your work may be moved to accommodate functions.

ELIGIBILITY: The exhibition is open to all 18 years old and over. The work must primarily incorporate textiles, techniques (quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, weaving, rope, twine, thread, dying, stamping, transfers, etc) and other mixed media materials. The design must be original. Two dimensional wall hanging works must not exceed 40” in any direction and be low relief (max 6 inches) and less than 30 lbs. in weight. Minimum size excluding the mat and frame is 9 square inches. Some suspended ceiling pieces (less than 7ft.) may be accepted. Completed work must be less than two years old.

CURATING FEE: $40.00 for the first four images. Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images submitted.

SALES: The sale price for each piece, which includes the commission fee, must be indicated on the entry form. The Dragonfly Gallery will retain a commission of 50% on all sales that occur during the exhibit or resulting from the exhibit.

Seeking examples of work in fiber-based media on the topic of motherhood for a paper to be delivered at the 2012 Textile Society Conference in Washington, D.C. Artist Kate Kretz will be delivering a lecture entitled The Final Art Taboo: Identity Politics of Motherhood.

Female artists have gained some ground in the art world over the past few decades, but there are still unspoken rules remaining: artists who happen to be mothers tend to keep it quiet lest they be written off, and heaven forbid they make art on the subject. While art historians have always studied and noted the influence of travel, friends, and milieux on the work of male artists, the most profound and life-altering experience of all has been ignored in these discussions of creative inspiration, because it is an exclusively female phenomenon. This paper will feature work done by cutting edge contemporary textile artists who have artistically “come out” as mothers, addressing the topic with humor, depth, and sometimes, shocking candor. Fiber, a medium that references protection, nurturing, and other motherly attributes, serves as the perfect vehicle for art evoking the complex nature ofcontemporary motherhood.

Bio:

Kate Kretz earned a certificate at The Sorbonne and a BFA at the State University of New York atBinghamton before receiving her MFA from University of Georgia.

Exhibitions include the Museum of Arts & Design, VanGijn Museum, Kunstraum Kreuzberg, Wignall Museum, Katonah Museum, Frost Museum, Fort Collins MOCA, Telfair Museum, Fort Lauderdale Museum, the Museo Medici, as well as Lyons Wier Ortt & 31 Grand Gallery in NY, Chelsea Galleria and Hardcore Art Contemporary Space in Miami, and Packer/Schopf in Chicago.

She has received the NC Arts Council Grant, The South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship, The Florida Visual Arts Fellowship, and a Millay Colony Residency. After working as an Associate Professor and BFA Director at Florida International University for ten years, she recently moved to the Washington, DC, area. Kretz currently works in her studio while giving workshops and lectures at various universities.

Maude Kerns Art Center is proud to accept submissions for its 2013-2014 Exhibit Schedule. Regional, national, and international artists (individuals and groups) working in 2- and 3- dimensional mediums, as well as installation art, are invited to submit their work for consideration. Solo, group, and/or themed shows will be curated based on the content, quality, and number of submissions. All artists, working in all mediums, are eligible.

ENTRIES: Images of up to (10) works of art may be submitted for consideration.

SUBMISSION FEE: $15 Submission Fee; Group exhibits: $5 per participating artist

GROUP SUBMISSIONS:
Group submissions will include digital images of 5 pieces created by each participating artist. Each artist will also provide an individual resumé and a completed application form. A statement describing the overall theme of the exhibit will be submitted. For ease of communication, one artist must be designated the “coordinator” of the exhibit. Entry fee is $5 per artist participating in the group exhibit.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Jurors will be accomplished artists and art professionals. Artists will be chosen based on quality and technical excellence. It is understood that the individual pieces of art submitted may not be available during the assigned exhibit period. Art Center staff will work closely with the artist to select work for the final exhibit.

2013/2014 Exhibition Season

A preliminary exhibition proposal must be submitted to the Executive Director-Curator before an exhibition idea can be considered. Proposals should be sent to the Executive Director-Curator at the Humboldt Arts Council, 636 F Street, Eureka, CA 95501. The initial proposal is intended to communicate your exhibition idea to the Museum Exhibitions Committee. The proposal should be clear and concise and should include the exhibition's thesis, educational intentions, intended audiences, and artwork you plan to include (with visual examples). Clarity in the articulation of your intentions for the exhibition will, in some ways, reflect its educational value for the public.

The Museum Exhibition Committee meets once a year to review all of the proposals that have been received. The committee will be reviewing proposals for the 2013/2014 exhibition calendar. All exhibition proposals must be postmarked or received at the museum by September 20, 2012.

We encourage a variety of exhibition types. All media will be considered. If you wish, you may compliment your show with a lecture and/or multimedia presentation. Exhibitor’s funding responsibilities must be secured before submitting the proposal. Individuals, group artists, and organizations may not exhibit within the Morris Graves Museum of Art more than once every three years. The Exhibition Committee reserves the right to cancel any exhibition for failure to comply with this requirement. Notification will be sent to artists regarding submitted proposals by the end February 2013.

The Committee may decide to exhibit your work with other complementary artists in a group show; however, this decision will be discussed with you prior to the scheduling of your show. Sales are encouraged, and a 40% commission will be charged on all sales. The HAC will pay the exhibitor for all sales of artwork within 30 days of the close of their exhibition.

The Port Moody Arts Centre is pleased to announce two Artist in Residence positions for emerging and established artists in the Lower Mainland. The Arts Centre will host a year-long residency in ceramics and a new 10-week residency in visual arts to provide opportunities for local artists to develop their work.

The Visual Artist in Residence will operate in a large gallery space to enable them to explore and create new work. This residency will start on August 23, 2012, and carrythrough until November 10, 2012. The recipient of this position will be provided with the unique opportunity to engage with the public in an ongoing dialogu eabout their work throughout the residency.

Fantastic Fibers is an international competitive exhibition that seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding works related to the fiber medium. In four years Fantastic Fibers has grown to a truly international competition/exhibition. Last year's Fantastic Fibers 2011 had over 400 entries submitted by 187 fiber artists from France, Canada, Japan, Qatar, and from 23 US states with 58 works by 47 fiber artists chosen for the exhibit.

The competition/exhibition is open to all professional artists 18 years and/or over working in the field of fiber art. Contemporary and innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium are welcome. All work submitted must be original, completed in the last three years and not previously exhibited in a Fantastic Fibers exhibition. There are no size restrictions. A non-refundable entry fee $10 is required for each entry submitted for consideration with a maximum of five entries per artist. Entries must be submitted online by February 4, 2012.

Juror Luanne Rimel is an artist, curator, and currently the Director of Education Programs at Craft Alliance Art Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She holds an MFA in Fibers from Southern Illinois University and has taught numerous workshops and classes around the country. Rimel will award a minimum of $1,750 in cash prizes for this year's exhibition.

Exhibit will be open to the public March 31- May 5, 2012, at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, KY. Paducah is the home of the National Quilt Museum. The American Quilter's Society Annual Show and Contest will be held in Paducah from April 25 to 28, 2012.

The Contemporary Artists Center has recently opened its newest residency program on the campus of the Woodside National Historic Register Site in Troy, NY. Two neo-gothic stone church buildings now house our artist program and welcome artists from all over the U.S. and abroad.

The CAC is located 2.5 hours north of NYC, and is currently accepting applications for the Spring season.

The CAC focuses on emerging and early career artists and accepts applicants who offer quality in their art and encourages diversity of style, medium (2-D, 3-D, 4-D) and concepts.

Our facility features high-ceiling, adaptable studio space open 24 hours a day with some specialized studio facilities, exhibition opportunities, weekly critiques, and free access to all CAC events. The living area includes lofted bedrooms, living room / library, dining room, and kitchen & bath.

In response to the theories and superstitions regarding the "End of Days" predictions by Mayan calendars and Nostradamus in 2012, this exhibition looks to the horizon of the new year and those to come. What if the end of the world is simply a new beginning?

2012 and Beyond: Charting the Future focuses on speculations for the future and exploring worlds, technologies & movements we have yet to create. It approaches science fiction through the lens of speculative fiction, observing technology and environments that evolved from dreams into reality.

How would a still life painting portray life in 2012 or 2022? What will our homes look like? Fashion? Animals? How will spacecrafts be designed? Will Aliens live amongst us? Will humans look the same? What about interspecies offspring?

Qualified Artwork:

In defining the uncharted future, "tomorrow" is just that, 2012 and Beyond encourages artists of all mediums to let their imagination be the limit and chart humanity's future from 2012 onward. The exhibition asks artists to dream and merge current technology and astronomical knowledge of today with the genre of science fiction.

The Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program is designed to support selected artists by providing resources, space and equipment to assist in the creation and promotion of their work. In turn, artists provide technical and educational assistance to Minnesota Center for Book Arts. Residencies may be from two weeks to four months in duration.

Studios and equipment are available to facilitate work in papermaking, printing and bookbinding.

Participation in the program is based on the artistic merit of proposed projects as well as the degree to which artists further MCBA's artistic vision: to preserve the traditional crafts of fine printing, bookbinding and papermaking; champion book art as a vital contemporary art form; and demonstrate the critical role artists' books play in the advancement of cultural and visual literacy.

The Selection Process
Applications and supporting materials will be reviewed by MCBA staff and panelists from the book arts community. Criteria outlined below will direct the discussion. In the event that no viable candidates emerge, no residencies will be offered in the period.

Artist-in-Residence Benefits (truncated)

The Artist is encouraged to submit workshop or presentation proposals to MCBA, with applicability decided by the Adult Programs Manager. The Artist would be paid by contract for teaching workshops at a rate equal to other MCBA instructors.

From time to time, Artists-in-Residence execute special project work for MCBA or other associated individuals or groups. Under these conditions, Artists-in-Residence are compensated at a rate equal to similar MCBA contracts. Special project work is dependant on demand and is not ensured for all program participants.

If the Artist chooses to market his/her work produced at MCBA through MCBA's Studio Shop, MCBA may choose certain works for sale on a consignment basis. Joint promotion may be undertaken depending on the availability of funding for the project and whether such a project fits into MCBA's programming.

Artist-in-Residence Responsibilities (truncated)
The Artist will be responsible for keeping facilities and equipment clean for others' use and undertake regular maintenance and organizational tasks necessary for upkeep and communal studio use.

The Artist will provide his/her own supplies for works in progress.

With assistance from MCBA staff, the Artist will be responsible for assessment and selection of his/her studio interns. Initial contact generally requires a brief interview either by phone or personal meeting. The Artist, with the Artistic Director, will be responsible for task determination, scheduling, management and supervision.

Where possible, regular work hours should be established by the Artist-in-Residence.

A final project calendar should be submitted to MCBA at the beginning of the Artist-in-Residence's term.

Since MCBA operates under an open studio model, the Artist-in-Residence is expected to greet the public and give informal information sessions.

Eligible media: A variety of media is welcomed including fiber, metal, beadwork, leather, paper, wood, etc. All works that embrace the theme of “accessorizing the body” are eligible; this includes jewelry, combs, hair ornaments, belts, scarves, sashes, satchels, shoes, ties, hand bags, gloves, hats, handkerchiefs and more! Artwork must be functional and wearable. Garments and clothing are not eligible.

The Contest is open to entrants worldwide who are 18 or older at the time of entry.

Employees of Timeless Treasures, Janome, and all sponsors and their immediate family members (parent, child, spouse, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister) and members of the households of such persons (whether or not related) are not eligible to participate in the Challenge.

Project Size and Technique

Quilts
•Quilt entries must measure no less than 18" x 18" and no more than 40" x 40". The diameter of round quilts should not exceed 40".
•Quilt entries may be made using pieced, applique or mixed techniques, and may be hand or machine quilted. Quilts much have three quilted layers and a four-inch sleeve attached to the top of the quilt back

There must be a cloth label with the maker's name, address and title of the quilt attached to the bottom edge of the quilt back.

Lifestyle / Sewing
•Clothing may be of any size but should not include bulky winter items.
•Accessories may not be larger than 12" x 12" (base) and 24" (height).
•Dolls must be between 12" and 24" in total height, including stand.

A cloth label stating the maker's name, address and title of item must be attached to the project.

Project Submissions
Do not send your actual project! Photos or your quilt or sewing project must be sent by or before June 1, 2012 to Timeless Treasures Fabrics, Attn: Timeless Stitch Star Challenge, 483 Broadway, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10013.
•Photos must measure 8" x 10". Please send one photo showing your project in full and additional photos showing details. The back of photos should be marked with the entrant's name, address and telephone numbers (email optional). Please send no more than 3 photos.
•Submission photos may be accompanied by a 1-minute video uploaded to YouTube.com or an essay of up to 150-words discussing the creator's inspiration. Personality is encouraged! To submit a video, please upload it to YouTube and note the link on the back of your photos.
•15 semi-finalists from each category will be selected by our panel of three judges on June 15, 2012. Semi-finalists will be instructed where to send their entries along with a brief bio and artist's statement. Please note that these documents will be used in Timeless Treasures promotional materials. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from each category will be announced on July 20, 2012 by live webcast from New York City.

Art Fair on the Square is amongst the largest art fairs in the Midwest and is rated among the best fine art shows in North America by artists from across the country. Furthermore, Art Fair on the Square is the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s most important annual fundraiser, providing crucial support for exhibitions and education programming. For two days, the eight blocks that surround Wisconsin’s beautiful State Capitol are transformed as artists, entertainers, vendors, and nearly 200,000 visitors come together to celebrate the arts.

Art Fair on the Square is open to all artists 18 years of age or older.

All exhibited work must be original in concept and must have been created by the accepted applicant. No work made with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, stencils, or prefabricated forms may be exhibited. Offset reproductions of original art may be sold, but must not comprise more than 20% of exhibited work or occupy more than 20% of a booth space.

AWARDS
Best of Show Award – A Best of Show Award will be given in each of the 12 media categories. Winners will be invited to return to the 2013 Art Fair on the Square at no cost. Both jury and booth fees will be waived.

Invitational Artist Award – Between 50-75 Invitational Awards will be given to artists in all categories. Invitational artists will be invited back to Art Fair on the Square 2013 without the need to submit to the jury process. The jury fee is waived for these individuals.

If you wish to withdraw your application before the jury date you will still be responsible for this fee, and no refunds will be issued. All jury fees will be deposited by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art when received. WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING PAPER APPLICATIONS.

Late Jury Fee: $45
Late jury fees will be accepted for all online applications submitted between the dates of March 2 and March 12.

Booth Fee: $475
Upon invitation, the deadline for booth payment is April 11, 2012. Do not send a booth fee payment until you have been invited to the show.

Double Booth Fee: $950
Double booths are available on a first come, first serve basis.

December 2012 marks the conclusion of a b’ak’tun; a time period in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar which was used in Central America prior to the arrival of Europeans. The creation accounts of the Maya refer to cycles of creation or world ages. The previous world ages ended after 13 b’ak’tuns, or roughly 5,125 years. According to the Maya Long Count calendar, the fourth world, our world, will have reached the end of its thirteenth b’ak’tun on December 21, 2012.

The end of the fourth world age in 2012 might be accompanied by cataclysmic and transformative events. Will we witness doomsday scenarios in the form of natural disasters triggered by magnetic polar shifts?

As mortals we all face the inevitable end of ourselves in the world. As artists we have the power to create our own visions of what may lie ahead both for the

ELIGIBILITY
This exhibit is open to all Print Group members and all artists in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region. Artists must be able to hand deliver accepted work to PCA.

Work submitted must be original. Work should either be created specifically for this exhibition or suited to the theme. Work should have been produced within the last two years and not exhibited at the PCA or another venue within 150 miles of Pittsburgh.

A printmaking process – relief, intaglio, silkscreen, lithography, monotype – must be central to the execution of all entries. Photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium will not be considered; however, photographs and other digital images may be used as part of the final image but may not stand‐alone.

Two dimensional work must be exhibit ready, professionally presented and ready to hang. Work that differs from the digital image it represents will be rejected. PCA reserves the right to remove work that is deemed unfit to hang or stand.

Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) seeks art to be included in a juried exhibition of contemporary Japanese book and paper arts. The exhibition will be on display in MCBA's Star Tribune Foundation Gallery from May 19 through July 15, 2012. Eligible work may include, but is not limited to: sumi-e, calligraphy, origami, kirie (paper-cutting) moku hanga (Japanese watercolor woodcut prints,) handmade paper, hand bookbinding, or any paper-based work that upholds the traditions of Japanese book and paper arts.

There is no entry or participation fee. Selected artists will be responsible for all shipping costs. While on view at MCBA's gallery, all work will be fully insured.

EXHIBITION OVERVIEW
In the fall of 2012, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) will host CraftTexas 2012, the seventh in a series of juried exhibitions showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft. The exhibition will feature artists from all over the state who work in clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood and found/recycled materials.

The exhibition serves as a starting place for the general public to appreciate the depth and breadth of craft being made in our own communities and across the state. Additionally, this unique show provides Texas artists the opportunity to be considered for inclusion in major national museum and private collections.

CraftTexas 2012 will be juried by Jean W. McLaughlin, Executive Director of the Penland School of Crafts in Bakersville, NC; Rachelle Thiewes, internationally acclaimed metal and jewelry artist from El Paso, TX; and Jade Walker, Director of the Visual Arts Center and the Creative Research Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin.

ARTIST ELIGIBILITY
CraftTexas 2012 is open to all artists currently residing in Texas.
Works in craft media: clay, fiber, glass, metal and wood and in found/recycled materials will be accepted.
Each artist may submit up to three (3) original works completed within the last two (2) years.

AWARDS
Three (3) Award of Merit prizes of $1000 each will be selected by the jurors.
All selected artists will receive the CraftTexas 2012 catalogue.

SUBMISSION MATERIALS
Artist statement (maximum of 1000 characters)
Artists may enter up to three (3) pieces of work. Artists should submit only one (1) digital image per work, for a total of up to three (3) images. (Do not submit detail images.)
Non-refundable entry fee of $35 to be paid by credit card.

JURY PROCESS
Work submitted to CraftTexas 2012 will be juried via the CaFÉ TM system using high-resolution digital images. Images must be accurate representations of the work. Accepted work that differs significantly from the images may be rejected at the discretion of HCCC. No substitutions of accepted work will be allowed.

ACCEPTED WORK
Notification of acceptance will be on or before May 1, 2012.

The 13th Annual Easton Art Affair is one of Ohio’s premier Fine Art/Fine Craft shows.

ELIGIBILITY AND JURYING

Participation is open to artists in all Fine Art and Fine Craft media. All applications will be processed through http://www.zapplication.org/.

Exhibitor must provide the jury with 4 photos that are representative of their work.

Artists wishing to exhibit work produced in more than one category must submit an application, images and application fee for each category. Only one booth fee is paid. Jewelry, for example, cannot be exhibited with another medium without being accepted thru the jury process in the jewelry category.

All reproductions must be clearly and individually labeled.

MEDIA CATEGORIES

Digital Art: Original work for which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material was executed by the artist using a computer. Traditional photographs taken through a camera should apply as photography.

Drawing and Pastels: Original work created using dry media including chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax, crayon, etc. or from the fluid medium of inks and washes applied by pen or brush.

Fiber: All work crafted from fibers, including basketry, embroidery, weaving, tapestry and papermaking.

Glass: All handmade glass items.

Jewelry: All jewelry produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, paper, plastic, or other materials must be entered in this category. No commercial casts, molds or production studio worked is allowed.

Metalwork: Includes all non-sculptural, non-jewelry works crafted from metals.

Mixed Media: This category includes works, both 2D and 3D, which incorporate more than one type of physical material to produce. This includes non-sculptural work only.

Painting: Works created in oils, acrylics, watercolor, etc. are in this category.

Photography: The camera is the primary source of the imagery and ends with a 2-dimensional print. Photographers are required to disclose their creative and printing processes.

Printmaking & Graphics: Printed works for which the artist hand-manipulated the plates, stones, or screens.

Sculpture: Three-dimensional original work created in any medium.

Wearable Art: Handmade hats, belts, clothing of any kind apply in this category

Wood: Original works in wood that are hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved.

Other: Should be used for mediums that do not fit into the above categories. Artists in this category must provide a detailed description of their process and materials.

Gualala Arts offers a broad and diversified array of exhibitions to promote public interest and participation in the arts.

We accept and encourage non-solicited proposals for exhibitions. If you are interested in exhibiting your work or curating a show at the Gualala Arts Center, you will find most of the information you will need to develop your proposal online. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions after reviewing these materials.

We have two main spaces for exhibits at the Gualala Arts Center: the Burnett Gallery and the Jacob Foyer. In addition, Gualala Arts presents exhibits at the Dolphin Gallery, our associate gallery and gift shop in downtown Gualala, and at The Sea Ranch Lodge Front Gallery.

The Exhibit Committee welcomes new concepts and proposals. The documents listed below will help you understand how to write your proposal, know what you will be responsible for as a curator, and how and when the Exhibition Committee functions.

Proposals must be received by March 31 and artists will be notified by April 30 for exhibits in the following calendar year.

With our first Convention taking place from 27 to 29 July 2012, IQCAfrica will comprise an expo, a range of workshops by talented international and local teachers plus an international quilt exhibition.

Host all of these in a world-class venue, and IQCAfrica promises to be the most exciting event on the African quilting calendar.

The quilt challenge theme for 2012 is "Dreams".

After exhibition at IQCAfrica 2012, this quilt collection will be going touring abroad! First stop will be at the 18th European Patchwork Meeting in Saint-Marie-Aux-Mines in Alsace, France from 13 - 16 September 2012.

SUBMISSION RULES AND GUIDELINES:
The challenge is open to all quilters permanently residing on the African continent.

Each side of the finished quilt should be between 50 and 100 cm.

The quilt must be hand or machine quilted and bound.

The quilt must have three layers: top, backing and batting. Only high quality fabrics should be used for the main construction.

Embellishments and other surface design treatments are permitted.

The quilt must have a 4" wide sleeve on the back for hanging.

A cloth label with your name and telephone number MUST be sewn to the back of the quilt.

The quilt MUST depict the theme "Dreams".

Entries must be the entrant's own original design. Any source of inspiration MUST be declared.

Entrants must submit TWO photos of their entry by email for pre-selection. One flat full shot (including borders) and a close up of the detail. Each photo should be between 1 and 5 MB in size.

Each entry must include the title of the quilt, a description of it, the techniques used, as well as a declaration that the design is your own original work. Any source of inspiration must be declared.

Entries close on 1 May 2012.

The South African Quilters Guild appointed panel of judges will then invite successful entrants to send their quilts for final selection.
Successful entries will be displayed as a special collection at IQCAfrica 2012 and entrants will each receive a Certificate of Exhibition. Quilts will be returned to the entrants after the event.

This is NOT a competition and no prizes will be awarded. The purpose of this challenge is to showcase the best of Africa's quilting talent.

General Quilt Contest Rules (truncated)
1. The maker(s) of a cloth quilt can enter their completed work by submitting the completed and signed entry form, entry fee of $10 per quilt for AQS members or $30 per quilt for nonmembers, and CD of digital images.
2. There is a limit of three entries per contestant, one entry per category. The name(s) on the top line of the entry form should be that of the maker/contestant(s). Those listed as “other stitchers on this quilt” will not be considered contestants and may have their own three entries.
3. All quilts must be quilted by hand, machine, or both. Quilting is defined as a running stitch that passes through top, batting, and backing. Tied quilts are not eligible.
4. All quilts must fit the size requirements and definitions of the selected category. You must select one category for each quilt. For categories defined by quilting method:
a. Home Sewing Machine includes use of any sewing machine that is table-mounted/stationary, allowing the quilter to move the fabric rather than the machine.
b. Longarm/Midarm Machine includes any sewing machine mounted on a frame, allowing the quilter to move the machine head rather than the fabric.
5. 3 photos that must be submitted with the entry. Send only these three photos on CD.

All decisions of the jurors and judges are final. AQS reserves the right to reject any entry or to move a quilt into a different category. AQS juries quilts based on technique as well as appropriate subject matter.

Rules Specific for Grand Rapids, Michigan 2012
G1. All General Quilt Contest Rules apply.
G2. Quilts must have been finished between May 1, 2009 and the entry deadline.
G3. Quilts must be available for display from August 3, 2012 until one week after the show.
G4. Quilts must fit within the size requirements and definitions of the following categories:
A. Quilter’s Choice: any quilting technique or construction method. Width 60" to 110"; Length 60" or more.
B. Made By Machine: made entirely by machine. Width 60" to 110"; Length 60" or more.
C. Wall Quilts – Hand Quilted: quilted predominantly by hand. Width 30" to 60"; Length 30" or more.
D. Wall Quilts – Machine Quilted: quilted predominantly by machine. Width 30" to 60"; Length 30" or more.
E. The Ultimate Guild Challenge: This challenge honors the results of a quilt guild’s challenge to its members. The guild issues its own challenge to its members, choosing rules, fabrics, themes, whatever! The top 8 quilts from the guild are submitted as one entry to the Ultimate Guild Challenge.
• Each guild can submit only one challenge; each individual can stitch or quilt only one challenge quilt for one guild.
• Each of the 8 quilts must be between 30" and 60" in width and between 30" and 60" in length.
• Each guild submits:
* 1 entry form for the guild (include challenge description and rules, fabric samples if applicable, and contact information for the person coordinating the entry)
* 8 entry forms for the 8 quilts, each to be filled out and signed by the quilt’s maker
* A CD with full and detail images of each quilt (see rule 5 in the general contest rules on page 2)
* 1 entry fee ($10 if guild or contestants are AQS members, $30 if all non-members)

The 2012 theme is “Home Is Where the Quilt Is,” a broad theme that celebrates the form and the meaning of Home. All techniques and materials are encouraged. Entries must be 3 layers--top, filling and backing and must conform to our contest guidelines.

Who May Enter: Open to anyone who wishes to enter. The entries may be the work of more than one person as long as proper credit is given to all involved in the actual completion of the quilt. If a quilt made by multiple artists wins a prize, artists are responsible for distributing/sharing prizes.

Contest Format and Rules
Contest quilts become a donation to AAQ. All entries will be auctioned with 100% of the proceeds supporting the AAQ and its projects. This auction is one of our most successful annual fundraisers and a great way for quiltmakers to support our mission in a creative way.

Grand Prize will be awarded by a panel of 3 professional quilters/designers. Member’s Choice, Honorable Mention prizes and several specially awarded prizes will also be given.

Entry Fee Non-refundable. Alliance members pay $5 per quilt. Non AAQ members* pay $25 for the first quilt and $10/ea for subsequent quilts.

Limit of Entries: None. Enter many!

Exhibitions: The quilts will be exhibited on The Alliance's website as well as national venues including a debut exhibition at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Raleigh, N.C., June 21-23, 2012. After the national exhibition tour the quilts will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to The Alliance for American Quilts.

General Quilt Contest Rules (truncated)
1. The maker(s) of a cloth quilt can enter their completed work by submitting the completed and signed entry form, entry fee of $10 per quilt for AQS members or $30 per quilt for nonmembers, and CD of digital images.
2. There is a limit of three entries per contestant, one entry per category. The name(s) on the top line of the entry form should be that of the maker/contestant(s). Those listed as “other stitchers on this quilt” will not be considered contestants and may have their own three entries.
3. All quilts must be quilted by hand, machine, or both. Quilting is defined as a running stitch that passes through top, batting, and backing. Tied quilts are not eligible.
4. All quilts must fit the size requirements and definitions of the selected category. You must select one category for each quilt. For categories defined by quilting method:
a. Home Sewing Machine includes use of any sewing machine that is table-mounted/stationary, allowing the quilter to move the fabric rather than the machine.
b. Longarm/Midarm Machine includes any sewing machine mounted on a frame, allowing the quilter to move the machine head rather than the fabric.
5. 3 photos that must be submitted with the entry. Send only these three photos on CD.

All decisions of the jurors and judges are final. AQS reserves the right to reject any entry or to move a quilt into a different category. AQS juries quilts based on technique as well as appropriate subject matter.

D1. All General Quilt Contest Rules apply.
D2. Quilts must have been finished between June 1, 2009 and the entry deadline.
D3. Quilts must be available for display from September 14, 2012 until one week after the show.
D4. Quilts must fit within the size requirements and definitions of the following categories:
Bed Quilts: Width 60" to 110"; Length 80" or more. Quilts designed for use on a bed.
A. Bed Quilts – Hand Quilted: quilted predominantly by hand.
B. Bed Quilts – Machine Quilted: quilted predominantly by machine.
Wall Quilts: Width 40" to 80"; Length 40" or more. Quilts made for display on a wall.
C. Wall Quilts – Hand Quilted: quilted predominantly by hand.
D. Wall Quilts – Machine Quilted: quilted predominantly by machine.
Fabric Art: Width 24" to 50"; Length 24" or more.
E. Fabric Art: small quilts to be viewed as works of art, displaying innovative, contemporary design and materials, using fabric as the primary medium.

How to Become an AQS Instructor
AQS continually seeks instructors who have traditional and innovative techniques and projects as faculty in the AQS School of Quiltmaking at the four AQS quilting events – Lancaster, Pennsylvania in March; Paducah, Kentucky in April; Grand Rapids, Michigan in August; and Des Moines, Iowa in October.

Each of the shows is held Wednesday through Saturday. Full-time instructors arrive on Tuesday and depart on Sunday.

Full-time instructors teach 3.5 days. For full-time instructors, AQS pays teaching fee, transportation, lodging (double occupancy), and $40 per day of teaching for meals. Full-time instructors teach one 6-hour class, and five 3-hour classes (one of these may be a lecture).

Part-time instructors teach any number of classes less than 3 days. Part-time instructors receive their teaching fee and $40 per day of teaching for meals. Transportation and lodging are the responsibility of the part-time instructor. This instructor may share a room with another instructor in the headquarters hotel and will be billed after the show by AQS.

Please provide the following information:
Complete an AQS Instructor Application Information Form for each of your workshops and lectures. Incomplete forms will delay consideration of your application. Make sure you have a good variety of workshops – hand (could be lecture/demo) and machine workshops, and lectures. Send a good variety of 3-hour classes.

Teaching fees: 3-hour workshop, 6-hour workshop, 1-hour lecture

Living Heritage Museum is pleased to announce the theme for its 30th annual quilt competition. In keeping with the museum's anniversary, “BEST OF THE BEST: QUILTING’S FINEST EXPRESSIONS” has been chosen as the 2012 theme for both the traditional and art quilt categories. All interpretations of the theme are welcomed. Cash prizes will be awarded.

For its 2012 show, the Museum is requesting quilts that exemplify true textile artistry, including but not limited to:
 The use of exquisite, unusual, or beautiful fabrics, both contemporary and historical reproductions.
 Expressive design and pattern elements, whether original or traditional.
 The quilter’s unique aesthetic voice, as expressed by color and composition.
 A specific message, story, or theme conveyed by the quilt.

The traditional category will be judged according to the use of time-honored techniques and designs. The art quilt category is open to those who wish to expand upon traditional quilting, and the use of multiple techniques and mediums is encouraged.

Eligibility: This exhibition is a national opportunity open to all quilt makers within the United States. All quilts must be original works executed by the artist. Quilts must have three (3) layers (top, batting, and backing). No commercial patterns or copies of previous works should be used. Quilts may be constructed by individuals, teams or groups. All persons involved in making the entry must be listed on the entry form. Entrants will be limited to one entry.

Guidelines for Entries: Each artist may enter one quilt to this exhibition.

The staff of Fiber Art Calls for Entry (FACFE) is very excited to expand the site with a few new facets. We've alluded to this expansion in previous years but we think this time around we'll finally bring everything to fruition.

TEXTUALITY
An International Exhibit Exploring Works Which Incorporate Text or Letter Forms

Not long after humanity began drawing, drawings evolved into writing. Pictures became symbols, abstraction blossomed, and language became visual. Two branches, sharing one root, carried forward people's ideas, feelings, and plans. The visual and the verbal arts shared the role of encapsulating civilization's data. And they continue to do so today, in so many wondrous and varied ways. TEXTUALITY is an exhibit that inquires into the overlap of these two branches, seeking examples of where the verbal is made visual, where language returns into image.

Manifest continues its eighth season with a project intended to feature and explore works which incorporate text or letter forms. These may be in ways that are quite straightforward, or which are abstract, fragmented, or in other ways surprising or significantly processed away from recognition. Manifest is eager to see just how artists make work of any media or genre (painting, drawing, collage, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, video, and non-traditional art, etc.) using text or letter forms as a significant element.

Eligibility: TEXTUALITY is open to everyone. Professionals as well as students are encouraged to enter.

Note that artists who previously exhibited at Manifest or had work included in our publication projects ARE perfectly eligible to submit. Our juries are always conducted blind, and we do not disqualify folks who have success in past juries.

Media: Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts genre and media, (including video, photography, sculpture, collage, design, sketching, illustration, etc.). The only limitation is that text or letter forms must be incorporated as a primary element in the realization of the work.

Entry Fee: Each work submitted must be accompanied by a $10 non-refundable entry fee. Number of entries is unlimited.

Catalog: Manifest will produce a full-color catalog documenting the work selected for exhibit. Each exhibiting artist will receive one free copy of the catalog.

This is an Open Call for proposals for an exhibition in the summer of 2012. This call is open to all artists from North America working in all visual media. Proposals for exhibitions by both individuals and groups will be considered.

Guidelines
All work must be for sale. A commission of 40% will be taken on all works sold as a result of this exhibition. Payment will be mailed to the artist within 30 days of the exhibition closing. Works are insured while in Target Gallery. Artists are required to sign a Loan Agreement and a Terms and Condition Agreement if accepted. The Target Gallery will keep the CD of accepted works and reserves the right to reproduce the images for all media and publicity purposes.

Entry Fee
A non-refundable fee of $40.00 must accompany each entry form.

Awards
The individual or group associated with the chosen proposal will receive a solo exhibition at the Target Gallery from August 4 - September 2, 2012. The artist/s will also receive a stipend and an exhibition catalog.

Jurors

Jack Rasmussen is the Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center in Washington, DC. In addition he has also taught painting, curatorial practice, and arts programming, and worked as the university’s associate director of development from 1983 to 1987.

Catriona Fraser is an international award winning photographer and the Director of the Fraser Gallery. The Fraser Gallery exhibit the work of local, national and international artists with an emphasis on contemporary realism and photography.

David Page is an award winning, South African born, Baltimore based sculptor. His work is included in The Teaching Collection at St. Mary’s College, the permanent collection at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the collection of Nelson Mandela. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally including The Touch Gallery at the National Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa, Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts and The Baltimore Museum of Art. He currently teaches at The Corcoran College of Art and Design and is represented by Jordan Faye Contemporary since 2006.

The Department of Art and University Galleries at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi are pleased to announce the inaugural Oso Bay North American Printmaking Exhibition, a competitive juried competition held in conjunction with the 2012 Oso Bay Biennial. This month-long festival has proudly served fine art and culture to the South Texas Region for over 30 years. This year's events focus on the expansive realm of Printmaking.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to professional artists living in the U.S. and Canada who are 18 and older. Entries must be original fine art prints including traditional, digital or experimental print media. Artists’ books are included, no photographs. Works must be original, not exceed 60 inches in any direction and have been completed in the last 3 years.

ENTRY GUIDELINES: Work will be juried from jpegs submitted on CD ROM.

ENTRY FEE: $30 for 3 entries, $5 for each additional artwork. Maximum of 5 entries.

JURORS: Bill Fick & Tom Huck

Bill Fick is the director of Cockeyed Press which specializes in the production of linocut prints and small books and co-authored with Beth Grabowski: Printmaking: A Complete Guide to Materials and Process, published by Prentice Hall.

Tom Huck is a visual artist best known for his large-scale satirical woodcuts. Huck's woodcut prints are included in numerous public and private collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Spencer Museum of Art, Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Saint Louis Art Museum, Milwaukee Art Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Fogg Art Museum, and the New York Public Library.

AWARDS: Merit, Purchase and Materials Awards totaling over $2500 will be announced by the jurors during the closing reception on Thursday, April 26th 2012. A Materials Award from generous sponsors will be given in each category: Lithography, Intaglio, Relief and Screenprint.

SALES & COPYRIGHTS: Sales are encouraged. A 30% commission will be retained by the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) University Galleries. Your entry grants permission to photograph and use your images for promotional or educational purposes only.

In celebration of VA Commission for the Arts Minds Wide Open Celebration of Children and the Arts, the gallery will host an exhibition that focuses on interactive, kinetic, toy inspired art. This is an all media show that examines the art of the toy, open to all artists nationally and internationally.

Prescott Trudeau is the full-time Curator of Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA), a non-profit museum located in Lower Manhattan. Description: The Target Gallery and the March of Dimes are teaming up to raise money for both organizations with the appropriate title, “March Madness.” This exhibit is open to all artists with the requirement that the work is created on 10x10 inch wood panels provided by the Target Gallery. The $15 entry fee guarantees entry into the exhibit, one wood panel, a chance for jurors’ awards, and free entry with one drink ticket to the Art Party on March 16th. There is a limit of 3 entries per artist.

Entry Dates: Pick up your panel between January 2 - February 17, 2012

Upon receipt of the $15 entry fee, the gallery will provide the artist with a blank, 10” square, wood panel. The artist will need to pick the panel up at the gallery between 10am to 6pm. Completed artwork must be brought back to the gallery between February 20 - 26th, from 10am to 6pm, to be included in the exhibit. All artwork must be created on the panels provided by the gallery.

Judges’ Awards & Best of the Rest: Four awards will be given at the Art Party on March 16. Three judges will each choose their favorite piece. The gallery will award prizes to the winners. The audience at the Art Party will have an opportunity to select their favorite piece to receive a Best of the Rest Award.

Directions for Entry
1. There is a non-refundable fee of $15.00 per entry (limit 3 entries per artist).

2. Upon receipt of the entry fee, the gallery will provide the artist with a blank wood panel, 10 x10 inches. The artist will need to pick the panel up at the gallery between 10am to 6pm.

3. A completed panel must be returned to the gallery between February 20th - 26th, from 10am to 6pm. All entries must have been concieved and created by the artist submitting the work. All work must by finished, dry, and ready for exhibit.

Guidelines
All work will be sold for $150 ($100 during the Art Party) and all proceeds from sales will benefit the Target Gallery’s 2012 outreach programming and the March of Dimes. The artist will not receive a commission for the work sold. The Target Gallery reserves the right to reproduce images for all media and publicity purposes.

The Detroit Artists Market is pleased to announce this CALL FOR ENTRY to artists to submit work for consideration for the Biannual All Media Exhibition, held at the DAM. Entries are due delivered or postmarked by March 1, 2012. Opening on April 20, 2012, this show will feature a wide array of work by area artists. Our guest Juror this year is Leon Johnson, a convergent media artist and experienced teacher, whose intermedia communications and events include performances and interactive spectacles in traditional and non-traditional sites.

Eligibility
This all-media exhibition is open to all Michigan and Ontario residents 18 and older. Artists may submit a maximum of two entries in any media created within the last two years. Works submitted must not have been previously shown at the Detroit Artists Market. All work submitted must be available for sale.

Entry Procedure
· Artists may submit up to two entries.
· Entries will be juried by digital images in JPEG or TIF format submitted on a disc.
· One image for each 2-dimensional artwork and up to three images for each 3-dimensional artwork may be submitted.
· All images must be of professional quality.

Digital Format
· Digital images are to be submitted on a Windows capable CD. JPEG format files are preferred.

Entry Fee
A non-refundable entry fee entitles each artist to submit two artworks. The fee is $25 for nonmembers and $10 for members. Entry with Artists membership is $40.

Eligibility: Artists must live or work within the USA. All structures of artists’ books, unique or limited edition are eligible. Due to case size and exhibition space, work may not exceed 30 inches in any one dimension, and the sum of all three dimensions may not exceed 48 inches.

Submission Requirements: Submission must include completed online entry form, images, and fee. Each artist may submit up to 3 works. When you've completed and submitted this online entry from, you will be taken to a page with instructions on paying the fee, either online with a credit card or by mailing a check.

Awards: Cash prizes totalling $1000 will be awarded at the opening reception.

The Delaware Art Museum is celebrating 100 years of supporting the visual arts in its community through its collections, exhibitions, and programs. To commemorate the Museum’s past annual exhibitions of painting and crafts—combined to form the Biennial in 1989 — a juried exhibition will be on view from October 20, 2012 through January 13, 2013. The exhibition will feature a variety of media—drawing, painting, sculpture, performance, video, and installation—and include artists living either within the State of Delaware or within 100 miles of the Museum. Guest-juried by John B. Ravenal, this centennial exhibition anticipates the next 100 years of contemporary art in Delaware.

Eligibility
The Centennial Juried Exhibition (“Exhibition”) is open to artists ages 18 and over currently residing either within the State of Delaware of within 100 miles of the Delaware Art Museum (“Museum”).

Media
Artists are invited to submit up to three works of art created within the last ten years. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional work—including installations—in any medium that can be viewed by digital image is eligible. Performance, sound, and video art, and practices that engage technology are also eligible and must be submitted as MP3, MP4, or Flash files and YouTube and Vimeo embed codes. Work submitted must be available for exhibition.

Selected works of art will be displayed both within the Museum and outside in the Copeland Sculpture Garden. The artist is responsible for all material, production, and display costs related to the selected work(s) of art including matting, mounting, framing, hanging hardware, and any temporary platforms required for outdoor sculpture.

EXHIBIT PROPOSALS: Solo, Two-person, Group and Concept Submissions

Seasons begin late September. Selections are made and season planned by end of July.

One-third of Manifest's exhibits are dedicated to solo exhibits. Solo exhibitors have included local, regional, and national artists. It is important that each of our seasons of free public exhibits consist of a balanced mix of solo and group thematic projects. The group shows provide diversity of approach, media, style, and geographic origin, while the solo exhibits provide a deeper insight into one artist's vision.

Manifest is eager to receive proposals of various types. And accepts these on an ongoing basis, reviewing them starting in early June in consideration for the upcoming season. With a mission to stand for quality in the visual arts, we set our own bar high, and generally exceed the expectations of both the exhibiting artists and our patrons with what we do.

The museum-quality gallery currently comprises roughly 1000 square feet divided between three distinct exhibit spaces of varying proportions and sizes. Total gallery running wall length is 160 feet, with all walls being 11.5' in height. All exhibit spaces are appropriately track-lit. The Main Gallery (the largest of the three) has street-facing windows nearly floor to ceiling providing excellent public exposure for the artwork 24/7. Exhibits are open to the public five hours a day, five days a week for a total of four weeks on view.

Eligibility: Anyone can submit a proposal. Artists should bear in mind the need for a consistent and very strong body of work when submitting.

Media/Genre, etc: Open to all traditional and non-traditional genre and media. Manifest sets out to survey, locate, exhibit, and document excellent quality amongst all types of art. Our record of showing a broad mix speaks for itself. If it's good, we want to see it, and if possible show it.

Jury and Curator: Manifest's main selection process involves a complex two-part system. Most exhibits are juried by an anonymous 9-12 member panel of professional and academic advisors with a broad range of expertise. The jury then passes along their recommendations to the exhibit curator who will make the final selections from the jury-approved pool. Solo proposals are handled in a similar but smaller scale way. While artists may provide a specific goal for an exhibit, the final selection and layout of works will be determined by a Manifest curator in consultation with the artist.

Catalog: Manifest will produce a full-color catalog documenting the work selected for exhibit. Each exhibiting SOLO artist will receive five free copies of the catalog.

Insurance: Works will be insured while on gallery premises.

Submission Fee: Each proposal must be accompanied by a $30 non-refundable submission fee. Number of works is not limited.

• Selection of quilts:
- All techniques are accepted, as long as they match the fundamental structural characteristics of a quilt (3 layers).
- Compulsory dimension: 100 x 100 cm. (40" x 40")
- The quilt must be original or must give credit to the source of inspiration.
- The quilt must have been made in 2011/2012 – and must not have been exhibited in any major exhibition, published in a catalogue, a book or a magazine prior to entering the competition.
- The quilt must have an 8 cm (3"1/4) deep casing sewn securely to the upper edge of the back. It should begin and end approximately 3,5 cm (1"1/4) from the side edges. The quilt must have a fabric label with the maker’s name, address, phone, title and dimensions sewn to the lower right corner on the back of ther work.
- As the selected works will be travelling for a whole year (2012-2013), they need to be easily transportable; please avoid too fragile embellishments or material.
- There is a possibility to enter 2 works, knowing that only one will be selected. Please fill one entry form per quilt.

• All selected quilts will be published in the 18th edition of the “Catalogue Prestige”

• Jury:
- The selection will be made by an international jury, designated by the organizers.

Criteria: Stitch Through celebrates the art quilt. The focus of this exhibit is color, composition, creativity and craftsmanship. Honoring the tradition, all works must consist of at least three layers that have been stitched through by hand or by machine. There is no theme, however nudes no matter how tastefully done are not accepted in this venue.

General Information: This juried exhibit of art quilts is open to all US residents, 18 years of age or older. Submitted works must have been created since January 2010. All works entered for consideration must measure at least 36 inches in width and no wider than 40 inches. Minimum length 24 inches. Maximum length 72 inches. All work must come with a hanging sleeve and the rod/slat with drilled holes or screw eyes for installing. If you elect another method for displaying your work other than the standard rod-sleeve, you must send the required hardware and clearly written instruction for the exhibit installers to follow.

Entry Fee: The minimum entry fee is $20.00. You are allowed to enter two quilts for this fee. You may enter up to 3 additional quilts for $5.00 each to a maximum total of 5 quilts or $35.00.

The exhibit site is on the campus of Bethune Cookman University at the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center & Visual Arts Gallery, 698 West International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.

Exhibition proposals are judged primarily by the quality of the work, but also by a narrative in which artists explain what it is they are trying to learn or what they are trying to explore in the body of work they will prepare for the exhibition.

SURTEX provides a valuable and exciting opportunity for artists, designers, agents and licensors to meet art buyers and licensees from around the world. Since 1986, SURTEX has hosted an annual International Student Design Competition honoring outstanding art & design students for their exceptional surface design work. The Challenge
This year we challenge students to create a collection (minimum of 6, maximum of 9) of original surface designs to be used in an outdoor celebrations setting in the year 2020. We encourage students to think ahead, think future trends -- 10 years down the road – to develop designs that will be used on outdoor furnishings, fabrics, invitations, table linens, tabletop, decorative accessories, wall coverings, floor covering and lighting of their choice within the outdoor setting.

We encourage students to be creative, inventive and dramatic as they develop their overall concept / theme and related surface designs. A successful entry will also demonstrate potential for viability in the marketplace, as well as excellent presentation skills.

Eligibility
There is no cost to enter the SURTEX designext competition! However, all entrants must be students in their 3rd or 4th year (junior or senior level) in a college/university, and be enrolled in a surface design-related curriculum. Submissions must adhere to the competition requirements in order to be considered.

Winning students must be able to travel to New York City to participate in SURTEX 2012.

Jury / Criteria
The jury will review entries based on the following criteria:

■ Surface design development (i.e. hand-drawn and/or computer-generated)

■ Creativity, style and use of color and pattern

The 16th annual Art In The Pearl Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will be held Labor Day weekend in the beautiful and historic North Park Blocks of Portland, Oregon. Considered one of the nation's premier art festivals, Art In The Pearl features the jury-selected work of 130 artists from across the USA and Canada. Developed and produced by artists with the goal of creating a quality venue for artists to present their work to the public in an annual celebration, this festival features exceptional artists, a live World Music stage, artist demonstrations, a children's art area and a variety of culinary arts.

The 2012 show will take place from September 1st to September 3rd, 2012. The application deadline for the 2012 Art In The Pearl® Festival is February 15th, 2012. Applicants will be notified around April 1st, 2011.

HOW TO APPLY

GENERAL RULES (truncated)

* All exhibited work must be original to and handcrafted by the accepted Artist. Artist guarantees the accuracy of the description of the work presented to the jury and the authenticity of the work as the creation of their own hands.

* Artists must be at least 18 years old.

* Only those Artists accepted in the Jewelry category may exhibit or sell jewelry. All jewelry, regardless of the materials used, must be entered in
the Jewelry category.

* No more than two artists may collaborate on work. Both Artists must be included on the application. Artist collaborators that produce a single product may qualify as a single exhibitor but each artist must equally and creatively contribute to each piece.

MEDIA CATEGORIES
Media categories are used by Art In The Pearl as a tool for organizing Artistsʼ images into logical, related groups for the juryʼs review. The following are the media categories currently accepted for the juryʼs review: 2-D Mixed Media, 3-D Mixed Media, Computer Generated Work, Drawing, Emerging Artist, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Metalwork, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Wood

FEES
A nonrefundable jury fee (to cover jury expenses and administrative overhead) of $35.00 is required for each entry form in every category submitted.
Upon receipt of an acceptance letter, the selected artist is required to reserve and pay for their booth space. (See Rules of Participation for booth fees).

AWARDS
A total of three Best of Show awards are given to Artists for outstanding work. Award winners are invited to return in their awarded category the following year. An image of that Artistʼs work selected by Art in the Pearl will be on the promotional posters or post cards, web site, and in paid advertising for the show and other media promotions for the show.

Each applicant is required to submit five quality jpg images representative of work to be exhibited in one of the following categories: Ceramics, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Metal, Leather, 2-D Mixed Media, 3-D Mixed Media, Painting, Paper, Photography, Sculpture, Wood, Graphics/Printmaking, Digital, or Drawing/Pastels. A sixth jpg image must show display booth with work visibly representative of the quality in the five images of your work. The booth image should also represent your professional presentation.

All work must be original, designed and executed by the accepted artist. Work created in production studios is not eligible. Only artists displaying their own original work may participate. No stand-in or proxy exhibitors will be allowed to represent the artist/s. If two artists collaborate, it is regarded as a joint (one) entry.

JURORS: The work of each applicant will be reviewed by a four-member panel of art professionals. (TBA)
The work will be juried based on originality; execution of design, technique, and craftsmanship; creative use of materials, and aesthetic qualities. Each artist’s images will be viewed simultaneously and must accurately represent work to be exhibited.

The Four Rivers Craft Show is highly acclaimed among artists for incredible organization, quality of exhibition, artist hospitality, sales promotion, and community support. The Festival has earned a stellar reputation as an award winning and well juried visual arts venue.

THE FESTIVAL MISSION: To celebrate the arts and this community through a festival accessible to anyone – physically, psychologically, and economically.

Requirements (truncated)
Each applicant is required to submit five quality jpg images representative of current work to be exhibited at the Festival. A sixth jpg image must show display booth with work visibly representative of the quality in the five images of your work. The booth image should also represent your professional presentation.

The Prize is open to any student who is in full or part time education on or after the 31st of March 2010, from any country in the world. Please note that research, and graduate students are also eligible to enter. There is a £23.00 (GBP) fee to enter.

The Prize
This prestigious international prize has attracted students of embroidery, design, arts, surface textiles, costume, fibres, interiors, fashion and textiles throughout the world. This year the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery returns to being a STUDENT ONLY PRIZE.

The aim of this prize is to promote the use of hand embroidered surface embellishment within fashion, costume and soft furnishing. All in the hope that contemporary design and other fresh approaches will be inspired to embrace hand embroidery, to acknowledge and value its quality and expertise.

The Brief
The prize brief encourages a diverse range of work.
It seeks original and creative ideas, innovative design and use of materials.

8 Points of the Brief
Entrants are required to:
1. Base all work entered on the following brief, entitled ‘CELEBRATION’
2. Present embroidered samples of hand embroidery for clothing, accessories, costume or soft furnishing
3. Use HAND EMBROIDERY including Cornely or Irish work if appropriate. Machine embroidery can be used (it will not however be judged), but must be hand embellished
4. Demonstrate how the embroidery can be applied / used, by providing one or more of the following – finished items / garments / mock-ups /illustrations / computer graphics
5. Provide supporting research and sketch/idea books/sheets, with notes that explain the thinking and ideas behind the concept
6. Show the design development from initial concept through to realised design
7. Ensure that the finished product is both practical and commercially viable
8. Provide at least 1 finished piece

First stage

Deadline for submission of photographic images of your work: Tuesday 30th June 2012 DO NOT SEND ACTUAL FINISHED PIECES OF WORK AT THIS STAGE

Second stage

Description

In 2012/2013, Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain will host the next edition of project room @ aquarium, an artist-in-residency programme based in the so-called “Aquarium”, a 175 sqm steel and glass pavilion. This international residency programme, while welcoming proposals taking full advantage of the place’s very specific architecture, is encouraging applications aiming to stimulate exchange and debate in relation with the local context and socio-cultural issues in Luxembourg. project room @ aquarium forms an integral part of the Casino Luxembourg’s agenda of exhibitions and events. Furthermore to the work that the participants are asked to realise during their stay in Luxembourg, they are expected to participate in the activities of Casino Luxembourg on specific occasions to be defined with the Casino team. Their project will be exhibited over a period of two months at the end of the residency and documented in a publication.

Eligibility

The residency is open to all individuals or artists collectives wishing to develop their practice in a professional context by creating new work. Applicants are free to choose their means of artistic expression but must give documented proof of at least a three-year work and exhibition practice. Applicants should not be older than 40 years. In order to facilitate communication with the local scene, participants should be fluent in either English, French or German. All applicants must hold a valid visa for the duration of the residency.

Budget

Casino Luxembourg will provide financial and technical support and will be in charge of implementing the artist’s project to a maximum cost of EUR 10,000. Participants will be accommodated in a centrally located, self-sufficient flat in Luxembourg city. Casino Luxembourg will take over the artist’s travel costs to and from Luxembourg and will provide a bulk sum of EUR 2,000 toward general expenses, to be paid in four instalments, the first of which will be made upon arrival. At the end of the residency, participants will receive an artist fee of EUR 1,500.

Candidates are asked to respect the criteria as described on the first page. The closing date for applications is 3 January 2012 at midnight. All the below mentioned documents are to be sent to Casino Luxembourg per e-mail to the attention of Christine Walentiny in a single printable PDF file.

5) Letter of intent (350 words maximum)
Including a brief description of your motivation and of what you will be working on contentwise during your residency in Luxembourg. No final project for the space is required at this stage, but an outline of your intentions has to be clearly stated in your letter.

Further there are international guest collections, challenging workshops by quilting experts and a rich blend of fabrics, haberdashery and everything you may need to quilt.

With as centre point the most diverse quilt contest of Europe. High quality artwork will compete for the prestigious prizes and trophies. Each year we are proud to welcome beautiful craftwork and we are delighted to see the quality and craftsmanship grow over the years. RULES FOR COMPETITORS ELIGIBILITY

Any garment, quilt or wall hanging in patchwork, quilting or appliqué completed since 30 April 2011.
An entry must consist of three layers which are sewn together. The main material of the entry must be textile.
Also kit-quilts and tied quilts are excluded from the contest.
Garments are possible too. One entry per category. No more entries than two per person. Please use a separate form for each entry.
Entries entered in the novice category must be patched and quilted by the maker him or herself.
If you have won a prize in the novice or intermediate category you are obliged to enter your work this year in the subsequent category.
The jurors have the right to assign an entry to a different category if deemed more appropriate.

DESCRIPTION
This award provides fellowships to outstanding professional artists who live and work in Tennessee. No matching funds are required and no specific project has to be carried out with the funds. The Commission anticipates that each fellowship in FY 2013 will be $5,000. In the coming year, the Tennessee Arts Commission may award up to two (2) fellowships each in Craft, Design, Media, Visual Art, Dance, Music, and Theater, as well as three (3) in the Literary category.

ELIGIBILITY
Fellowship applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be legal residents of Tennessee at the time of application with a Tennessee mailing address.

Individuals may apply in only one fellowship category each fiscal year. Those artists who have received full or partial (“Honorable Mention”) fellowships in the past may not reapply for a fellowship.

This award is designed to recognize professional artists, i.e. those individuals who either by education, experience, or natural talent engage in a particular art form or discipline. To qualify, an artist must be financially compensated for his or her work, and this compensation must be a significant source of support for their livelihood.

The Sixth Helen Warren DeGolyer Triennial Exhibition and Competition for American Bookbinding

Eligibility
Open to all bookbinders who are American citizens living either in the U.S. or abroad.

Guidelines
Each entry should include 1) a sample binding, 2) a design proposal for binding Libri quatuor De imitatione Christi, and 3) the Artist Statement/Design Intent form

1) Your sample binding should:
•reflect your current level of craftsmanship and preferably use some of the techniques you have proposed in your design
•be sent within an enclosure such as a phase-box, slipcase, or drop-spine box

2) Your proposal should:
•be mounted on 4-ply matboard, 32" x 20"
•depict the full outside opening of the book and any endpaper designs. Your depiction may be smaller than the actual book but reduced no more than 50%
•use accurate colors
•include swatches of the materials you intend to use. Adhere all samples to the matboard
•include your name on the back of the design board only

3) Your Artist Statement/Design Intent form may accompany your binding and design proposal or you may submit online.

The book selected for this competition is: Thomas à Kempis, Libri quatuor De imitatione Christi. Paris: Ex Typographia Fratris Regis natu proximi (Pierre-François Didot), 1788.

The Imitation of Christ is the most widely read Christian text after the Bible. Consisting of four Books, the first two offer counsel on the spiritual life, the third teaches on the inward consolation of the soul and the fourth extols the virtues of the Eucharist. The Latin text was written around 1418 by Augustinian canon Thomas à Kempis (ca. 1380–1471).The Imitation of Christ has appeared in hundreds of translations and has been printed in some ten thousand editions. Its spirit of personal devotion patterned on the life of Christ has been embraced by Catholics and Protestants alike and has profoundly influenced the spiritual reflections of readers from its first appearance through the present day.

Winners will be announced at the opening of the Helen Warren DeGolyer Exhibition for American Bookbinding on June 8, 2012.

Summerfair 2012

Established more than 40 years ago, Summerfair is a combination of more than 300 fine artists and craftspeople from across the country exhibiting and selling works ranging from ceramics and sculptures to painting and photography; 4 stages of local and regional entertainers; a Youth arts entertainment area and a variety of gourmet arts. The annual fine arts fair is Summerfair Cincinnati’s primary fundraiser and consistently ranks among the top 100 art shows nationally.

The deadline to apply is February 1, 2012. Acceptance notifications will be emailed (through ZAPP) to artists on March 9, 2012.

All applicants’ work will be reviewed by a panel of judges, comprised of artists and art educators with backgrounds in the categories offered at Summerfair. In order to be considered, works submitted must be original art produced by the applicant.

The Fine Arts Work Center offers a unique residency for writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Residencies run from October 1 through May 1. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. A historic fishing port, Provincetown is situated at the tip of Cape Cod in an area of spectacular natural beauty, surrounded by miles of dunes and National Seashore beaches.

Eligibility

The Fellowship is open to all emerging visual artists creating two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and time-based media work. Applicants are judged on the quality of their work and not on previous exhibition experience, resumes, recommendations or the like. The jury disqualifies applicants it deems to be already emerged—e.g., those who have had high-profile solo exhibitions, or have been in significant group exhibitions such as biennials.

Collaborative teams may apply under one application. If selected they will only be awarded one Fellowship. Please note that visual arts Fellows are provided with furnished living accommodations with one full-sized bed.

The Fine Arts Work Center actively seeks applicants from all backgrounds, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, marital status, ancestry, disability, HIV status or veteran status.

In honor of National Poetry Month in April, Crossings at Carnegie (Zumbrota, MN) invites poets and artists to submit their work to the eleventh Poet-Artist Collaboration, an annual exhibit in which artists create work inspired by poetry.

Guidelines for Poets (truncated)
• Poets may submit no more than three poems, each typed (12 point font) on an 8½-inch x 11-inch sheet of plain white paper.
• Each poem is to be limited to no more than two pages of 12 point Times New Roman, single-spaced.
• Entries should be accompanied by a registration form.
• Poems will be juried, and those selected to be part of the collaboration will be chosen or assigned to an artist who will create an original piece of art inspired by the poem.

Guidelines for Artists (truncated)
• Artists who would like to create an art piece from one of the juried poems should send a registration form.
• Entries should be accompanied by a $15 entry fee
• Entries should be accompanied by a copy or photo (no originals) of an example of their work. Website links are also acceptable.

This international contemporary art event, with the textile element as a main reference in creativity, research and concern in all forms of artistic expression. It takes the format of triennial due to the need of continuity of the project, that will in the future motivate artists to pursue an experimental and cutting edge approach, and maintain the audiences interest in Textile Art. CONTEXTILE 2012 intents to create dynamics between local, regional and international organizations aiming to expand the quality of its cultural program...

CONTEXTILE 2012 will take place in the Portuguese city of Guimarães from the 1st of September to 14th of October, 2012. It takes part of the program of GUIMARÃES 2012 –European Capital of Culture.

The triennial program will include a Textile Art Competition and a Acquisition Prize (3000€) will be awarded to the winner. This competition is open to all national and international artists.

Artists may apply until the 15th of February 2012 with artwork projects from 2009 to 2012, and all forms of visual arts will be accepted, based on 3 fundamental criteria:

1- All works have to include the TEXTILE element, either by construction, and material used, or by chosen theme or concept.
2- Dimensions cannot exceed 2mt in all directions and have a maximum weight of 20 kg.
3- All works have to respond equally to creativity, originality and technical skill.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY (truncated)
1. CONTEXTILE 2012 - ACQUISITION PRIZE is centered in the textile element, either by construction, and material used, or by chosen theme or concept.
2. This competition is open to Portuguese and international artists, that have completed 18 years of age by the entry deadline date of 15th of February, 2012.
3. Entries of all areas of visual art mediums will be accepted. Are excluded all forms of applied arts and craft works.
4. The competition is of individual artwork and collective projects are not accepted.
5. The CONTEXTILE ACQUISITION PRIZE of 3000€ will be individually. attributed. It will be announced at the Opening of the Exhibition. The winner will also be informed
by e-mail.
6. The artworks will be judged and selected by a panel of six judges, including the director of CONTEXTILE 2012, the director of Kaunas Textile Biennial, and established and practicing artists and art critics. The jury may decide not to attribute the Prize if the art works do not match the required standards of creativity, originality and technical skill.
7. There will be two rounds of judging. The first is a pre-selection over viewing portfolios and proposed art projects. The deadline date for art proposal and/or projects and also portfolios is 15th of February 2012. Artists will be notified by e-mail until 30th of March 2012, and may consult official listings in Contextile2012 internet site.

ELIGIBILITY
• All designs must be new, original and not available for sale and must not have won any previous contests.
• All submitted quilts designs must incorporate SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, no other cut crystals than SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS are allowed.
• Participants must create and complete the finished quilt on their own, without outside professional assistance.
• Participants are encouraged to use various techniques, such as sewing, quilting, ironing, knitting, crocheting, beading, machine embroidery, etc.
• The quilt must be inspired by the theme “Music”.
• Participants are required to submit two digital photographs of each design by June 1st, 2012. Included with the photograph, must be a complete list of
SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS used to create the quilt, as well as the title of the design and any short story about the design (no more than two hundred words, if applicable).
• Submissions are not to exceed 47 inches wide in dimension.
• Legal residents of the United States, 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter, except employees of Swarovski North America Limited, PFAFF, VSM Sewing, SVP Worldwide, their dealers and affiliates, and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion and/or their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and members of their immediate families or persons residing at the same address.

PROCESS FOR ENTRY
You may submit as many entries as you wish for contest. Completed application, two digital photographs (jpg or gif and not to exceed 2 Mbytes) of the design and a complete list of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS used must be submitted by registration deadline of June 1st, 2012. Do not send finished pieces.

FINISHED PIECES
The top 10 finalists’ finished pieces will be held in reserve by Swarovski for a period of two years. All designs may be photographed for a professional book, be displayed nationally and internationally, shown as examples at various events and trade fairs, and utilized in cross-promotions by Swarovski and PFAFF, throughout the two years.

WINNERS
The winners will be announced during the International Quilt Festival in Houston,Texas. More details of the location, date and time will be provided to each of the finalists.

A bridge is a symbol of union between peoples. For centuries bridges have been built to span rivers, estuaries, valleys. They were built to provide communication. Bridges have been built of stone, wood, metal or even rope. Some bridges have been danced upon, some have been painted and some have even been the subject of songs.

With this theme we invite you to create a bridge in lace, either in two or three dimensions, in white or in colour, in any material, in bobbin lace, needle lace or mixed lace.

There will be three categories:

Individual
Young lacemakers (aged 8 to 16 years)
Work of a group of lacemakers

Competition rules

The competition is open to all lacemakers, except members of the Executive Committee and the organising committee of the 2012 congress.
The lace must be designed and worked by the participants.
The lace will remain the property of the maker.
The lace must be original and may not have previously been published or submitted in competition.
The design must be worked in bobbin or needle lace or a combination of both.
More than one piece of lace may be submitted.
The total dimension of the lace may not exceed 1m x 0.50m x 0.50m.
The lace may be framed but must be without glass.
Participation in the competition gives OIDFA the right to publish the design.
The lace will be judged by an impartial jury who will give consideration to the originality, design and workmanship.
The judges’ decision is final.

Prizes will be awarded:

Having garnered numerous awards internationally, nationally and locally, the Festival remains one of the premiere events that kick off the summer in Utah each June. More than 80,000 patrons enjoy four days of award-winning fine arts in the Artist Marketplace, live performances on five stages, street theater, a fine arts exhibition, a film program, children's art and culinary arts.

There is a $35 fee to apply to the show and artists who are juried in will pay a $500 booth fee ($600 for corner booths) for the 4-day festival.

The exhibition will start at the Festival of Quilts, Birmingham, UK, August 2012, and will then travel throughout Europe. The works will be returned to the artists at the latest end 2013.

Entries
Artists living in Europe may apply for participation. Place of residence on 15 March 2012 will determine the country with which the artist will be associated. Each artist may submit a maximum of two works. The work must have been completed after 2010, and may not have been exhibited, or published about, before. The size of the work should be minimally 80 x 80 cm (or min. perimeter 320 cm) and maximally 180 x 180 cm (or max. perimeter 720 cm), and be provided, on the back, with a sleeve for hanging the work. There are no restrictions regarding the use of materials. It is, however, important that it is a construction of layers. The quilt must have a personal identity and may not be a translation or a copy of another work of art.

Sample of work
An sample of work is needed for each work. It must be a small (max. A4 ) sample of a piece of the quilt and is a resembling part of the work, not a collection of materials. The sample will be returned.

Fee
- 25 Euros entry fee, non-refundable, for up to two works to be paid by Cash or Bank transfer
NOTE : there will be an extra fee of 20 Euros when the work is accepted !!!!

Judging
The quilts will be judged on originality, personal expression and artistic quality.
The first judging will be based on the digital, unedited photos and the sample. Final decisions will be made on seeing the real work. Primarily selected work must be up to the standard of the EAQF for final selection. Only one work per artist will be selected. Aim is to have entries selected from as many different European countries as possible. The judges’ decisions are final and not open to discussion.

“Home is Where the Needle Marks,” at Pop Tart Gallery in Los Angeles, will explore the concept of home and all that the word connotes, highlighting the contrast of contemporary artists using stitch vs. preconceived notions of “home sweet home.”

We ask artists to submit works that deal with the idea of home. Feel free to interpret this theme widely. All types of stitched work are welcome for submission: knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch, needlepoint, quilting, applique... if it’s stitched, please submit.

Please note, we are looking for contemporary interpretations of theme and medium.

The column seeks to showcase fiber art groups from around the globe. Its goal is to highlight the strong sense of community in the fiber art world in the form of artist gatherings. It doesn't matter if you meet in person or online, if you are in the U.S. or international, if you have a hundred members or ten - I want to hear about you!

OBJECTIVE
The Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA) and East Carolina University's School of Art and Design have joined forces to organize, promote, and host a juried student exhibition of trends and creative works in fiber art. This first triennial exhibition will honor Edward S. Lambert, MFA (1940-2011) renowned educator, artist, mentor to graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Georgia, and advisor to SEFAA. A solo exhibition of Lambert's work will be shown in Gray Gallery in
conjunction with “Spotlight on Student Fiber Trends."

Lambert's outstanding contributions in the field of education and textile design place him among the most respected and innovative artists in his field. This student exhibition is due, in part, to his encouragement and inspirational leadership and we are thrilled to present some of his creative work and to honor his legacy.

ELIGIBILITY
Any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a fiber/textile program or independently pursuing a study of fibers/textiles in the Southeast (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee) is eligible to apply.

Honorable Mentions - awarded at the discretion of the juror.

ENTRIES
Each student may submit up to three entries. Submitted work must be original in design and must have been completed since January 1, 2010. Entries must utilize fiber techniques (interlaced, felted, stitched, dyed, coiled, knotted, printed, spun, woven, etc.) and can be of any material. Only individual work will be considered; no group projects will be accepted.

Accepted work must be received ready to display and must include all display hardware with clear hanging instructions. Students who propose an installation work must be prepared to personally install the work at ECU and to remove it after the exhibition closes.

Create a 12 inch fabric square in any textile technique and any material and submit it for our display wall. No theme and no restrictions other than a finished size of 12" x 12." Let your imagination soar and let's show how wonderfully diverse, unique and creative the fiber arts are!

Show attendees will vote for their three favorite squares and the top 12 vote-getters will be photographed for inclusion in SEFAA's 2013 calendar. Also, a silent auction will run the duration of the show, so artists are encouraged to offer their submission(s) for sale. The portion of the sale proceeds donated to SEFAA (20% minimum to 100% maximum) is up to each individual artist.

LAL welcomes proposals for two of its galleries: LAL @ Loudoun House and LAL Project Space. Both artists and curators are encouraged to submit proposals. Exhibitions are scheduled on a six to eight week rotation. All media will be considered, including installation and new media work. Work may be paired with that of one or more artists in a group exhibition. The proposing artist and/or curator in consultation with the Exhibitions and Programs Director of the LAL will determine the final number of objects.

Gallery Missions
LAL @ the Loudoun House: The mission is to challenge and stimulate the public through presentation of excellence in art. Exhibits will include artists from across the country (and beyond) that represent the best of the theme or genre intended by the exhibit.

The Loudoun House is an 1850’s Gothic Revival Mansion located in Castlewood Park in Lexington, KY. There are six gallery rooms, each made of concrete walls overlaid with plaster.

LAL Project Space: The mission is to exhibit installation and new media work that is engaging, challenging, and experimental in both concept and execution.

Eligibility
• Faces and Places is a juried exhibit of contemporary fiber art open to artists over 18 years old living in the US.
• Works must be original. Work derivative of other textile artists or work created in an undergraduate program or workshop, with the aid of an instructor, is not acceptable.
• Maximum size is 240 inches, total of all four sides. For example, a 24” X 60” work would be 168” (24+24+60+60=168).
• There are no restrictions on the completion date of the work.
• All works must be ready to hang on a wall, and include all applicable hanging apparatus (e.g., hanging wires, hanging rods, etc.) Works cannot be suspended from the ceiling. Three-dimensional works are eligible but must be ready to exhibit on the floor, pedestal, shelf, or must include mounting hardware for wall display.
• All works must be offered for sale. A 30% commission will be charged by the Fiber Artists Network and the Butterfield Too Gallery on any item sold during the exhibit.

Entry fee: $30.00 for three works. $10.00 for each additional work. Entry fee for FAN members is $25.00 for three works and $10.00 for each additional work.

The Morris and Sally Justein Heritage Museum at Baycrest invites eligible artists to submit applications of an original kippah (yarmulke) to Cover Thy Head a juried exhibition. Special Editions Residency Program is a competitive national residency program for emerging artists to create new work through exploration of printmaking. The Lower East Side Printshop offers an opportunity to complete an important new body of work in collaboration with one of our two experienced master printers, fully sponsored by the Printshop.

Artists, with or without printmaking skills, are provided with technical assistance, financial support, time and studio space to explore printmaking and complete a new body of work. Experimentation and exploration of new materials and processes are welcome.

The Printshop documents the artwork digitally, in printed materials including the annual catalogue, and on the Internet. The Printshop also provides exposure opportunities through on- and off-site exhibitions and studio visits. Awarded artists work alongside other emerging and mid-career artists in the Printshop's Collaborations Studio.

Residency includes:
• 12 day-long collaboration sessions with a master printer during a period of three to six months, plus, production/editioning service; independent studio access during the residency;
• All materials, full access to tools and equipment;
• up to $4,000 stipend;
• Catalogue;
• Printed and internet publicity and free slide documentation;
• Limited travel and accommodation stipends for artists who live outside of New York City.

Residencies will take place for a period of three to six months, including production time, scheduled between February 2012 and February 2013. Projects must be well under way and ready for production by October 1, 2012.

Selection:
• All applications will be evaluated for their artistic excellence by the selection panel consisting of five artists and art professionals.
• Selection will be completed in February 2012. All applicants will be informed of the panel's decision by email.

From December 29, 2011 - March 18, 2012, CoCA will present its 22nd annual juried exhibition seeking work from emerging as well as established artists in a wide variety of visual media. While there is no theme this year as such, we're hunting for work that experiments and explores in general, crossing disciplinary boundaries, challenging established notions of time and space, cultural production, and the objet d'art itself.

CoCA has presented the Annual since 1989, each time inviting an independent juror to select the work from among the entries received. For this year's 22nd anniversary of the show, CoCA is proud to have Gary Hill as juror.

Artists in any region and any country are welcome to submit. Two-dimensional, three-dimensional and multi-media work will be considered. A $500 first prize and a $250 second prize will be awarded by the juror, as well as up to two "honorable mentions" featured on CoCA's website. A catalog of the show will feature artists' statements, biographies, and images, as well as an introductory essay by Gary Hill. In addition to having all participating artists archived on CoCA's website, there will also be an opportunity to place work in CoCA's new online store.

NEXUS 2012 showcases regional and national artists working in the field of contemporary sculpture. Small sculpture encompassing all styles and genres from emerging and established artists will be selected by a nationally recognized juror for exhibition at the U. T. Downtown Gallery located at 106 South Gay Street, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Eligibility:

NEXUS: 2012 is open to all artists 18 years and older. Submit only work completed in the last two years. 3-D sculpture of all media, including freestanding floor and pedestal-based pieces. Wall based sculpture must be suitably wired for hanging. Wall bolts are not acceptable. No sculptures may exceed 100 pounds in total weight. Dimensions of each sculpture must not exceed 72 inches in any direction – no large installations (larger than a 6’ x6’ footprint). Kinetic sculpture is acceptable, but gallery cannot safely accommodate digital electronics including audio and video.

All work must be sturdy, stable, or otherwise secured to a base or wall. Free-standing floor based work must be easily moved and installed by gallery staff. The juror reserves the right to disqualify any work not suitably presented or not appearing to correspond to the entry image.

Awards: Best of Show $1,000; 2nd Place $500; and two $250 Merit Awards

The non-refundable entry fee is $30.00 per application (may submit up to three works per application). Two images may be submitted for each piece submitted on the application.

The Common Thread International exhibitions are the flagship shows of the World of Threads Festival. The intention is to bring international contemporary fibre art to Oakville and the Toronto area and highlight the strength of our local artists.

Artists from around the world are invited to submit to this Call for Submission for a “Fibre Inspired” Exhibition.

Festival Curator, Gareth Bate, has observed a trend in international fibre art towards work that engages fibre techniques or the history of fibre arts, yet is made of non-fibre materials such as paint, plastics and found objects, etc.

He will be curating an exhibition that specifically features work that is NOT made of fibre materials but instead uses other media. Work can be made of anything (including performance and video) but is should be evident how it relates to the theme of “Fibre Inspired”. This could involve an engagement with sewing or tapestry techniques, or the overall effect could resemble fibre arts in some way. We are open-minded.

This is an opportunity to provide exposure for emerging, mid career or established artists to showcase their work in this unique Canadian fibre arts festival.

For the first time, we have secured an external venue for outside multiple environmental exhibitions. This venue is at Appleby College campus in Oakville, Ontario.
Artists from around the world are invited to submit installations for this exhibition.
•Fibre materials or fibre techniques are acceptable.
•The Festival Curators, Dawne Rudman and Gareth Bate, will draw from submissions to determine an exhibition at this site.
•It must be possible for the artwork to withstand November weather (rain, wind, cold, even freezing rain, snow and the weight of snow).
•We are open to the idea of the piece changing over time. But it must still look good.
•The World of Threads Festival will not be responsible for deterioration of the works.
•The works may be freestanding/self-supporting, or have some ground steaks.
•There are trees in the area, both evergreen and deciduous, which may be used for attachment.

Kunstwerk Carlshütte, a non-profit initiative of the ACO Group, and the towns of Büdelsdorf and Rendsburg, organises the NordArt, an annual international exhibition of visual arts from June to the beginning of October. The art exhibited at NordArt is selected by a jury and features all visual art media. The exhibition in summer 2011 displayed the work of 250 artists from 55 countries, selected from 1200 applications from 72 countries. Curator of NordArt: Wolfgang Gramm.

Exhibition area:
The old foundry building in the Carlshütte (22,000 sqm), ACO Wagenremise (400 sqm), a 80,000 square metre sculpture park, as well as public spaces in the town.

The visitors of the NordArt can vote for their favourite artist. The 1st Award is worth 1000 Euros. The three winners are invited to participate again in next years NordArt.

The Rockford Midwestern is a biennial juried exhibition that originated as an annual showcase for local artists. The year 2012 marks the 72nd presentation of this regional show that draws the best works from artists from a nine-state region. Artists residing in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin participate. With this exhibition, Rockford Art Museum shows its commitment to presenting the breadth and depth of contemporary art in the Midwest.

Juried by Lisa Stone, curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the 2012 Midwestern will be on view May 18–Sept. 23 at RAM. Applications must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1, 2012; notification packets will be sent after jurying.

ELIGIBILITY

APPLICANT must be a current resident of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, or Wisconsin. ORIGINAL ARTWORK—paintings, sculpture (including kinetic or intermedia), prints, drawings, photographs—executed by the applicant within the last two years are eligible. No dimension may exceed 96 inches (8 feet); no weight may exceed 150 pounds.

Maud Morgan Arts and the Chandler Gallery are pleased to announce the 2012 Small Works Salon 2D Exhibition to take place in the spring of 2012 and juried by Victoria Munroe of Victoria Munroe Fine Arts.

This exhibition is open to all Boston area artists and proceeds will benefit an endowment for scholarships at Maud Morgan Arts.

All artwork for this show must measure exactly 12" x 12" outside dimensions. The work will be displayed in a dense grid to maximize the impact and number of works in the small space.

• Open to artists in the greater Boston area.
• 2D entries accepted in painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, photography, and mixed media.

2013 Exhibition Season

Place des Arts offers gallery and gift shop display space where local emerging artists and art groups may exhibit and sell their works. Artists living in British Columbia who are not represented by a professional gallery are considered local, emerging artists.

Place des Arts welcomes submissions in 2D and 3D media and techniques including fibre arts, sculpture, painting, photography, prints and drawings; we are not able to accommodate multimedia work at this time.

Guidelines and Selection Criteria:
The Place des Arts Exhibition Committee will review proposals and recommend selected artists based on the following criteria:
• Artworks must be original and recent (created within the past two years).
• Artists must not have exhibited at Place des Arts within the previous three years.
• Artworks must not have previously been exhibited at Place des Arts.
• Quality of artworks (materials, technique, style).
• Originality and creativity (subject matter/media/technique).
• Successful candidates must be able to present work ready to hang (properly framed or stretched with finished sidesand properly wired for hanging).

Community Art Group Exhibitions
Two exhibitions per year are reserved for local community arts groups*. The same submission standards and selection criteria apply with consideration to the following:
-meets the definition of community art group
-cohesive and organized proposal
-art groups have the opportunity to apply to exhibit every two years.

*A community art group provides opportunities for communities and individuals to develop skills as artists, as well as opportunities for artists to explore ways of transferring those skills. Place des Arts will reserve, but not be limited to, programming two exhibitions per year.
